Wikipedia: "Ranging up to 200 centimetres in length, cornetfishes are as thin and elongate as many eels, but are distinguished by a very long snout". "They feed on small fishes, crustaceans and other invertebrates". They nave a narrow, tube-shaped mouth. So, they are predators but only for that small fishes, crustaceans and other small invertebrates. Nothing to see with other predators with elongated body, sometimes dangerous even for men: Sphyraena species or "barracudas".
Are these fish harmful to humans at all? I was snorkelling around a well known beech in Cyprus yesterday and there was a coral nearby and I seen a few of these things as I was swimming around the coral. But as I didn't know anything about them, I kept my distance incase they were harmful.
