    store bought buttermilk.

    I can't say if I have ever bought Ranch dressing in a bottle, but I have tasted it and don't care for it at all, too slimy and not very flavorful. When I first started making it many years ago, I used the original Ranch dressing powder. Over the years, the taste of it changed, while also getting more expensive. Then I found a recipe for homemade dry mix powder, which I would use with mayo and buttermilk. But I started making kefir last year, and now I don't have to buy buttermilk!
    Thanks for the video and link to the fermented lemons. I will be doing that.

      I make it all the time with homemade kefir. It's great!
      Kefir Ranch Dressing
      Ingredients:
      • 1/2 c. plain homemade milk kefir
      • 1/2 c. mayonnaise
      • 1/2 t. dried parsley
      • 1/2 t. dried dill weed
      • 1/2 t. dried chives
      • 1/2 t. garlic powder
      • 1/2 t. onion powder
      • 1/2 t. salt (I use a little less and add more later, if needed
      • 1/4 t. ground black pepper (optional-I don’t use)
      Instructions:
      Combine all ingredients in a bowl until evenly mixed. Cover and let flavors blend in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.

      Mine isn't real thick but it isn't runny either. I use kombucha after first ferment for the culture and avocado oil. I'm not sure if either will make a difference in thickness. I used the culture mayo to make homemade ranch dressing and it was awesome. I used cultured buttermilk from the store but will be making my own for the next batch.

    Try to buy organic on these products because of what the cows eat too so putting that out there. I love pepper in my ranch dressing too so can add that as well. I buy the store brand here in Texas that doesn't include MSG and it has added peppercorn. Pretty much all canola/soy is GMO in the US...canola is a horrible oil to use for anything. Also it's not good mixing citrus with dairy, it curdles in your stomach and gives you tummy issues, this is per Edgar Cayce if you have read his info.

    • @MelissaKNorris
      @MelissaKNorris  ปีที่แล้ว

    All of those oils like canola, soybean and sunflower are super inflammatory. The way they are processed are horrible for you. The good oils I look for are avocado, coconut and olive. Which most companies won’t use because of cost.

  • @Minnehaha64
    @Minnehaha64 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They also do not ever tell you what "natural flavors" are. And in these days, I am afraid to ask! And isn’t canola something that negatively affects the brain?

    ?? It starts out not so bad? Ahhhhhhhh Vegtable oil is the worst possible thing to put in your body..! That's at the top of the list of reasons to make your own. And because store bought mayo, has vasty has gabage in it also.. I use home make Mayo.. egg and olive oil only.
