    Tutorial
Joshua D. Drake is a PostgreSQL Consultant and has been consulting on PostgreSQL since Postgres95. He is the founder and lead consultant of Command Prompt, Inc., the oldest of the Postgres companies. Throughout his PostgreSQL career he has performed a variety of functions within the community including releasing an O'Reilly book on PostgreSQL, being part of the sysadmins and advocacy teams. He is a former Director for SPI (the non-profit for PostgreSQL.org), a Founder of United States PostgreSQL, Co-Chair for PostgresConf and President of the International Consultants Committee for the Chinese Postgres Promotion Union.
When you are optimizing Postgres it is usually maintenance that goes by the wayside. How do we fix autovacuum? Where did all of this bloat come from? Why am I getting IO spikes? How do I get RDS to behave?! Why are commits so slow on replication? The answer to all of these questions is understanding the relationship between proper Postgres maintenance and performance. Join us for a 3 hour jaunt through the wily world of making Postgres Go!
