I like to give special ornaments to family/friends each year, and now, making them will be even more special! Trying to think how to incorporate a cardinal as a memorial to my Dad for this year's ornament.

A great place to get a gauge of prices for hand painted ornaments is Etsy. Search for these types of ornaments and you'll find a variety of ornaments and prices. That's my best advice. Prices are so variable based on the selling venue and location.
