I got Violet as a 5 star and I have seen how OP she can be :D
Jokes aside, I think the reason why she doesn't fit in any of the towers' categories is because of how busted she could be potentially but at the same time in a sense kinda balanced. She is actually really really good even at 3 star because :
1. She grants temporary force field/overheal in a sense which basically blocks projectiles for the most part (nullifying most rangers and supports) and its HP is 50% of Violet's defense + whatever level your signature ability is. Mine is level 17, so the force field's HP is actually 74.32% of her defense, but 50% of her defense is still amazing.
2. She has a chance to grant defense buff which does stack with other character's permanent and temporary defense buff when generating shield for some tanks (For instance Mr. Incredible's shield on ult along with super tough, determined, advanced super suit and show time talents also stack with Violet's temporary buff which means Mr. Incredible actually gains MORE shield from using his ult)
3. Incredible Defense talent is busted and is a requirement for her from how busted it is. It basically makes enemies that are close to your allies get dealt knockback. That means you can literally cancel the enemy's ult by having your damage dealer be close to whoever the enemy's ult is charging, giving you a back up ult cancellation in case your damage dealer's ult either doesn't deal knockback or the ult is off cooldown. And also whilst force field is up, other tank and melee guardians deal less damage to your character, making her a literal counter to everything pretty much almost when force field is up.
4. She grants her own allies shield (not force field) on ult based on THIER defense, not hers. Though sure it could be bad if say your character's defense is low but since I play tanks as my damage dealer, I get a lot of HP on my shield from it. But usually it would be 10% of the others' HP which is still good even at 3 stars. I have my Violet at 5 stars so she actually doubles that, so 20% of their HP usually without any defense buff on my Sulley and Mr. Incredible, the two supports I switch back and forth to use depending on situation because of her signature by default.
Her downsides are very clear however, and the right team can destroy whatever she can do. Her downsides include:
1. Enemy characters that have "shield down attacks" where they will wipe your entire shield bar even if the actual damage of the attack is a mosquito bite. I dunno if these exist but from my experience, if you get hit with Eve's heavy attack you will lose all your shield no matter what even if she is like level 20.
2. Enemy characters that deals damage straight to the HP, so characters that deal wound, shock or poison.
3. She is not really a healer unlike most support. May I repeat. SHE IS NOT A HEALER. If anything, she doesn't heal at all. So make point 1 and 2 even worse because of it unless you have another powerful healer on your team. The meta is 2 support 1 DPS currently so I think this can be circumvented in a sense, but you gotta address this
