Acrylic inks added to the paper with pigment and paste already applied really amplifies the pigment when used in same colors. Doesn’t take much ink, but gives a punch of color!
Thanks to Sketchbook revival, i found you….loved your tuteral….and now here I am on You Tube to watch you whenever I need you.i will try to make paste paper….Thank you….from North Bay Ontario, Canada
I adore your excitement throughout the video! It is invigorating and makes me want to run to the store for wheat paste to give this a try. Thanks so much for this video!
I caught the last few minutes of the live, so I'm watching the replay. I love this format, Ali, it's so much better than the lives on FB. I'm looking forward to seeing more! I can't wait to give this a try.
The number of times I needed to hear her say, you don't need to go buy paint, you have paint.😂😂...there goes my excuse to buy more paints. Get out of my stash😂😂😂
Wondering if it might work if you first coat the canvas with matte medium or just use the painted side to apply the paste to. Seems like that would allow the paste to float a bit! Gonna try it!! ❤
@@VintagePageDesignsI thought of that because I have collected so much of it in the last few weeks as my wedding approaches and the Amazon lady keeps putting lovely things in my delivery box!
Being wheat based will it attract vermin? Is it archival safe? I will be trying this for my journal covers, it looks like fuN and the effects are amazing
yes wheat paste does attract pests but if you have that problem (we live in the northeast and battle mice all winter), they will go for easier targets first. Wheat paste is archival ie it won't yellow over time. Have fun!
During the live session someon in the chat box asked if you could let your paste paper dry and then add another layer of paste over it. I don't believe that question was answered except by someone else on the chat. I'm wondering if doing that would make the paper too thick or cause other issues.
Do you have to heat it to stop bacteria growing as we do won't the pastels just get too thick zand how long must we heat paste for without it boiling please
What on earth is craftex? Does it have another name? It doesn't exist according to Google - nor is it available on Ebay. It must be a very localized American name. Any ideas?

Super fun process! I haven't heard of this technique, but I'm inspired to give it a go! I love your enthusiasm and energy, thank you for sharing!
I just wanted to thank you. I had a wonderful time. I am excited to experiment. I have been inspired!!

Wonderful ideas. Love the creativity in your designs. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent 3D circles. Great tutorial. Thank you.
Thankyou so much for teaching us. Love them
Fabulous, Ali! Thank you! ❤
Another tutorial, I am exited about this I’ve been making jj for years and never heard of this. Thank you, great teaching 😮
You’ll get addicted.
I agree it is so much easier to add the powder to the water slowly. We learn this in nursing to mix up meds. I doubt you would even have to filter it.

Thanks Julie!!
Ali, that was an awesome lesson. Something new to do. I think the credit card was my favorite. Thanks so much❣️
Glad you liked it :)
Fascinating, thanks!

Let me know how it works.
Hi, when making the paste, recommend putting the water in first then slowly adding the powder, enjoying the tutorial. :D
Great tip - thank you!!
Can’t wait to try this!
Very pretty
Which is the video youshowed what you did with these papers? They are gorgeous!
Very interesting. Thank you.
I ordered Elmer's powdered glueafter watching a show. What I received was pure rice starch. Can I use it
I’ve never heard of this method and I think it’s phenomenal, I love it, I will try it, but do you have a list of materials? I can’t find them
Hello from Iowa
Would sifting the 301 help prior to mixing with water to eliminate lumps?
👋 hi from Georgia in the states.
Can u use card stock?
wonder if you could color white gesso with similar results?
As long as you worked really quickly before the gesso dries. You would get more texture on the paper too but it would be a lovey effect.
Have you ever used brown paper that comes from shipping boxes?
@@hartmanartsource no but that’s a brilliant idea!!!
@@VintagePageDesignsI thought of that because I have collected so much of it in the last few weeks as my wedding approaches and the Amazon lady keeps putting lovely things in my delivery box!
Thank you!
??? Have you used an ink for the reverse to rid the white back??
Mica powder!! How?
Good idea to add something to back. I would sprinkle mica onto the wet paste paper using a paint brush.
Thank you ❤
I'm asking good from Nrew Braunfels, Tx.

Thank you. I’m in Australia, but I’ll keep that in mind as most of our pests are the same
Can I dry with heat tool?
Great question! I’ve never tried but it shouldn’t be a problem.

This is a very common practice when doing paste papers.
Definitely, You can build up layers. Just let it dry in between.
I was thinking this might work for cloth. Paint a thin layer, let it dry, then use it as you would the paper. Might work.
Do you have to heat it to stop bacteria growing as we do won't the pastels just get too thick zand how long must we heat paste for without it boiling please
Can you use a blender?
Yes. It’s a good idea if you’re making large batches.

Canada
Silly me I wasn't spelling Craftex right - was I !!!!!! Yes - I found it and it's not cheap, so I won't be trying that.

Please consider obliterating the numbers on your credit cards.
Would fabric work if primed with gesso?
