That moment when the commenters try to ask him questions. Like: Digi!!! When are you going to analyze the FMA:b series?! Compare and Contrast it to FMA:2003?!
that's because although there is something very great and moving within the kernel of the idea of TMNT, practically no one who works with the property understands it or works with it. Max got it.
it's kinda lame that the MEN(male turtles) are named after artists and the STRONG FEMALE turtle would be named after art. there are suitable artists too, Galazia or Fontana are ones I can think of where the last name of the artist still kinda sounds like a girls name.
RADubs Yeah, not even a Frieda or nothing'. I think it's because those are all cartoon/show only characters. The creators of the comics might have gone and made that extra effort, but a bunch of writers making 20 minute toy commercials just threw up any female art thing they could recall from high school art and history class.
I have enormous respect for Landis. I'm shaking that pitch was so good. Not only is it a great sequel pitch but holy crap that's the best movie ending I've ever heard. He beautifully blended one of my favorite songs with a great franchise, oh my gosh where is this movie already?
I love your passion. The discomfort it creates is only proof of your passion. The fact that you can make a TMNT ending so good only proves it. It is what we look for in cinema. Escape to a story about people as they are. Thanks for the story. Made my day. Michael Bay can definitely learn a thing or two from this, so can a lot of people. Thanks again, definitely a fan.
I don't think it could work now a days. The whole resurrection/savior plot has been done to death now, and besides, I think everyone's burnt out on zombie movies.
Mustavo Gaia That's true. The main character of the first half, God, is nearly a completely different character than in the second half. He's a lot more layered and deep. I imagine a story dealing with the complexity of his own conflicted morality might work.
God isn't just nearly completley different, I think it might not even be the same god. Which begs the question, what the fuck happened to the other one. That's the story right there.
You know, I'm not even that familiar with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but this pitch made me fall in love with them and simultaneously feel like I've been a fan for years. Fucking bravo, man.
That sounded like a genius and almost perfect vision of how a new Ninja Turtle movie should be. Only thing I'd change is that in the very last shot the camera should go close up to Michelangelo's face and he should look at everyone around him then into the camera (or just off camera) and passionately say the last line "I just love being a Turtle!"
As a fairly casual fan of the Ninja Turtles I've got to say I'm blown away by this. Seeing this sort of passion for an story coupled with the fact it's an amazingly, well crafted idea is genuinely outstanding. Thanks for making this Max. I hope we somehow get to see it on screen someday :')
You know what. The best part about great story telling is you don't need the visuals. what he described was enough for me to feel like I saw the movie. I saw every scene. it's sad that, that 17mins was better than so many movies that come out year after year.
It's weird how someone who is seemingly an emotionally detached weirdo abusive boyfriend can also be such an emotionally resonant and genuinely ingenius storyteller.
Hey I just followed a link someone posted in the TMNT Reddit to here and this was brilliant. Just wanted to thank you for sharing such a beautifully thought out story for them. I hope the right people hear this some day and you’re able to see it made!
I was skeptical when you said it, but this IS the dorkiest thing on your youtube channel. That last line right before credits was a perfect cherry on top
I loved every single second of this. I love hearing your pitches because they are so vivid I get some sense of actually watching the film you want to make. It is great. Thank you so much for sharing this, i love hearing your ideas!
Anna Kendrick is too absurdly hot. I mean, that would be great and all, but when I think of April, I think of a much more "average" looking woman. She should be pretty, but just "local news anchor pretty"
This was more entertaining and emotionally moving than most flicks I've seen lately. Thank you very very very very very much for sharing your vision and yes, the music completely sold the concept :)
Time and time again you manage to create those vivid pictures and pitches for us to enjoy, and every time it manages to inspire me to be a better writer and dream big with my ideas. Thank you Max for this pitch. It really got me in ways I didn't expect and now I just wanna see this in the theaters, so it can be as real as I picture it in my head right now. Keep on the good work!
My god, I had a constant chill during your ending. Not 'chills' because that emplys a down beat in my feeling. This was one big chill! I was hooked from the opening. I wish I could see THIS movie. Thanks man.
Max! You *HAVE* to make more videos in this style (pitching alongside the music) it's great. I never thought I could be so moved by a Ninja Turtles sequel ending pitch, I don't even like them! btw Fall Out Boy rocks
I really enjoyed the ninja turtles sequel but by God this is the emotional resolution that it deserved. I can see it so clearly. These characters mean so much to people and what you've done here max is not just push the same development that they have been stuck in for years but evolve it to a point where they become more then parodies of other heroes but become heroes themselves. I'm sad that I might never see my childhood heroes like this but in a way I just did. thank you for that. COWABUNGA DUDE!!!!!!!! (please respond, I think that you are an amazing writer)
I love this. This highlights to me more than anything the lack of JOY in these modern movies. Yours has this heartwarming , well thought out montage. Bay's has... creepy faces and jock antics
In an internal debate between Warner Brothers, Fox, and Sony, they all determined that Movies must be gritty, realistic, and fun was disallowed. They also determined that architecture was important, but that ultimately it must be destroyed for... reasons and stuff.
yeah, this part would have to be polished in pre-production, along with a few other minor things (someone should sit Max down with a collection of the most important original Mirage comics, but yeah this video is awesome)
Kappa have been used to warn children of the dangers lurking in rivers and lakes, as kappa have been often said to try to lure people into water and pull them under.
The veneration of kappa came in the late 17 th century when they supposedly saved a temple from arson by sacrificing their water from the bowl in their head.
It's been... I don't know how many years. But I always come back here to get the insprition I need, whenever I feel down or stuck. I don't know you, at all, but I know and can empathise with your passion at ALL times. Thank you for this, and all that you have done. I might judge you wrong, I might get this all wrong, maybe, and maybe for sure when it all comes down to the whole of your story. But what I know is the end of this video. The part when you get emotional. It's the same emotion when I'm talking to my dad when I say to him "I'm proud of you. I cannot thank you enough for raising me this way." ---------- It's Donatello... feeling happy and giddy that all the scientists acknowledging and inviting him in in the end. I don't know if you'll ever read this... But what I truly and sincerely wish is that you don't ever, EVER lose this childish, innocent part of yourself. I believe in you, man. I always did. Keep this train going. I don't know why or how, but I know I have a kindred spirit in you when it comes to creation. Much much love to you. I hope you read this the day you MOST need it. I love you, Max. Just for the way I know we think the same. Keep this going. Keep yourself alive.
Videos and ideas like this are why I follow you on Twitter and snapchat and why I watch your videos on TH-cam! Your unrelenting passion is something I really appreciate and is something that I want to be more prevalent in my own life. Dude, thank you for making this video and for pitching movies to us. Your work is truly inspiring and I am excited to see what else you are going to accomplish in the future. Also I'm probably going to be listening to this song now like nonstop for the next two weeks!
This was the most predictable, Shrek/Pixar/Heel-Face turn/whatever story ending I have ever heard in my life, and yet it is so perfect lol. You could see it coming from a mile away from when Max was explaining the climax of the movie, and yet it's so much of what we would want in a dumb summer blockbuster. The best part of the pitch is the setup at the beginning. To paint the 4 heroes as alone despite having each other as brothers is a nice twist to Turtles franchise. It's meshed well with their personalities and the motivations are believable. It's just so much fun and I had a giant grin on my face. Thanks for sharing :D
I've seen all of the pitches that you've chosen to share via video with your audience. They're always mesmerizing. This one is different though, because for the first time, while watching it, I felt like I was YOU, coming up with the idea and hearing the music in my head. I teared up, not necessarily because of the specific picture you were painting (which WAS tearjerking), but because I could empathize so deeply with the way your brain works as a paintbrush and a pen. I don't know where I'm really going with this, so I guess just thank you for your brain. Don't stop using it.
What's amazing in this telling is right at the end. You try to end the song before it goes into "Where did the Party Go," but it actually works. The song flows right into the end credits seamlessly. What a fantastic use of the song, and keep up the great work!
You are a very talented storyteller with a great understanding of how to craft something that could be best told in a cinematic medium. I hope if/when they reboot TMNT that they let you pitch them this idea!
As an acting trainer and acting coach, I wish half of the actors I worked with put as much passion into their storytelling as you do. Here's hoping one day I am lucky enough to work on a script of yours and show that same passion. Thanks for another inspirational video!
I absolutely love this. I got really emotional and Ninja turtles wasn't even a huge part of my childhood. Like I was a big fan but TMNT was not my main thing. This was fantastic and beautiful and the song with the end of the pitch was fantastic. I started laughing hysterically when they key change happened and it wasn't because it was stupid, it's because laughing like a lunatic is how I respond to things that are just so amazing I cant express myself in any other way. Everything paid off consistently and believable. 10/10
Idk who you are, not really. I've seen and heard you on some things...and Idk why your not more prevalent in today's pop culture society...but this was amazing. This passion, this commitment to self idea, this changed me. Thank you.
Wow. Honestly this is cool .... I thank you for what you do. Especially telling you about how to write history. Wait for your next video. Continue to keep doing what you do thank you.
I haven't many times physically applauded at the end of a youtube video, but god damn man... god damn!
That moment you see a TH-camr on a different video
That moment when the commenters try to ask him questions.
Like: Digi!!! When are you going to analyze the FMA:b series?! Compare and Contrast it to FMA:2003?!
anime is a japanese
I was just getting ready to applaud this guy in the comments and then I saw your remark, Digi.
Right there with you
Max you always make realize stuff I subconsciously wanted but never said
This ending is great.
Max is crying! I'm not crying, HE'S crying!
Think this is the first time I've really cared for the Ninja Turtles lol
that's because although there is something very great and moving within the kernel of the idea of TMNT, practically no one who works with the property understands it or works with it. Max got it.
+TheSchmuck2 Better than making them *ALIENS*. :3
And the credits reveal Anna Kendrick is Venus de Milo. BOOK IT.
I'm hoping that's sarcasm, and not that you don't know Venus.
Whoops, shows how much I know. =[
She's back in the new Nickelodeon cartoon as a space newt, so it makes sense although in Max's take she would be a turtle.
it's kinda lame that the MEN(male turtles) are named after artists and the STRONG FEMALE turtle would be named after art. there are suitable artists too, Galazia or Fontana are ones I can think of where the last name of the artist still kinda sounds like a girls name.
i mentioned 2 in my post you dork
why am i crying, i don't even like turtles
I know right
"I like twordles"
Only you could make a TMNT ending so cheesy and still make it sound so beautiful and powerful.
The sync between the song and your description is incredible. Perfectly timed. This whole pitch is so hyper-cheesy, but damn it if if I'm not sold.
I hanged on to every word. That was great.
Extra Points
Had that chick been Mona Lisa.
it's Venus de Milo
hahajaxsontv
I know.
Lost me instantly when he promoted those pseudoscience liars, neil tyson and bill nye
So all of the turtles are named after artists except her?
RADubs Yeah, not even a Frieda or nothing'. I think it's because those are all cartoon/show only characters. The creators of the comics might have gone and made that extra effort, but a bunch of writers making 20 minute toy commercials just threw up any female art thing they could recall from high school art and history class.
Now I don't want to see the one in theaters now because it's just not going to compare.
i saw it and it really doesnt even come close to Maxs version
I was kinda okay with the new one until I watched this. Now i'm just disappointed.
Literal tears, Max. And I mean that in the best way possible. "Cool, dude!"
I saw Raphael's ending the moment you said she injected the serum, Max. Brilliant song choice. Great story.
I have enormous respect for Landis. I'm shaking that pitch was so good. Not only is it a great sequel pitch but holy crap that's the best movie ending I've ever heard. He beautifully blended one of my favorite songs with a great franchise, oh my gosh where is this movie already?
I have literally never fanboyed harder than I did at this video! This was absolutely beautiful Max! 😃
I literally fucking squeed when you said "She's a fucking turtle" XD
I have the biggest dumbest smile on my face right now...
This is way to smart for a Michael Bay movie.
Hey, Max, what are your ideas for a Bible reboot?
LMAO
I don't think it could work now a days. The whole resurrection/savior plot has been done to death now, and besides, I think everyone's burnt out on zombie movies.
Esteraur But the first installments of the franchise were full of science fiction, world creation, plus battles far beyond GoT.
Shrek and Fiona...
GET OUT OF MAI SWAHMP
+EntertainmentBreeze Homie what is your profile pic its creepin me tha fuck out
It's from JonTron - Bootleg Disney Games
jaysteelsun Dude I love Jontron how the fuck did I not recognize that?
Not a Turtles fan, not a Fall Out Boy fan, and this gripped me from beginning to end.
You are an incredible storyteller, Max.
I'm not crying. You're crying. Shut up. Somebody's cutting onions!
To be perfectly honest I'd rather sit at home and listen to Max pitch movies than actually go out and WATCH most movies these days.
Listening to you describe it I felt like I just saw it and it was amazing. Max you have a beautiful mind bro.
Guy with a horse mask: Turns around, thumbs up, says 'I love it'
Great ending, the emotion really connected to me and I could see the scenes in my mind too. Thank you for that experience, keep rolling :D
Damn why can't I see this fucking movie
You know what. The best part about great story telling is you don't need the visuals. what he described was enough for me to feel like I saw the movie. I saw every scene. it's sad that, that 17mins was better than so many movies that come out year after year.
Dude! How did this get me all teary!? Loving all the feels you put into a turtles ending. Thank you for the amazing imagery. That was such a delight.
The worst part of the real sequel was when Splinter said "well why are you wasting time talking to an old rat?" when Leonardo asked him for guidance.
This was incredible! The setup, emotion and delivery paint an amazing picture. Damn.
It's weird how someone who is seemingly an emotionally detached weirdo abusive boyfriend can also be such an emotionally resonant and genuinely ingenius storyteller.
Maybe there's more to the stories. Maybe he's not.
This was amazing! You're such a great storyteller
Ya know what, seemed like corny fanfiction at first, but ya got me "cool, dude"
Hey I just followed a link someone posted in the TMNT Reddit to here and this was brilliant. Just wanted to thank you for sharing such a beautifully thought out story for them. I hope the right people hear this some day and you’re able to see it made!
I feel like I just watched a TMNT movie in seventeen minutes.
I was skeptical when you said it, but this IS the dorkiest thing on your youtube channel. That last line right before credits was a perfect cherry on top
How the fuck did I only hear half of this movie and still cry after hearing this ending?
I loved every single second of this. I love hearing your pitches because they are so vivid I get some sense of actually watching the film you want to make. It is great. Thank you so much for sharing this, i love hearing your ideas!
Got damn shame. Not a turtle fan, but i might have been if they made this movie.
"...and Splinter's left alone, with a cold pizza" lmfao best part
Give this man the keys to Hollywood, he is the Jesus of movies.
more like the judas
Holy hell, Max! You're one of the best, dude! F🙊ck! Also, your GlassPlanet sessions are incredible! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Anna Kendrick wouldve been a perfect April O'neil
She has self-respect though, whereas Megan obv does not, continuing to work on Michael Bay films after their own falling out
Jeremy Jahns had the perfect choice he said the girl from Dredd
Anna Kendrick is too absurdly hot. I mean, that would be great and all, but when I think of April, I think of a much more "average" looking woman. She should be pretty, but just "local news anchor pretty"
+DrSmokeTrees Anna Kendrick is more of "girl next door gorgeous"
Irma
Ha! That was great.
I totally welled up at your ending there, and Willow is the only movie that gets me teary-eyed.
Yo this story is fucking awesome
Dude, I'd listen to you talk about the entire script for hours. I really dig this.
That would've been a great way to introduce a female turtle. Also, the "cool dude" ending fits so well with the TMNT movies.
This was more entertaining and emotionally moving than most flicks I've seen lately. Thank you very very very very very much for sharing your vision and yes, the music completely sold the concept :)
I don't even give half a shit about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but this was dooope!
Also, now I want to hear the full pitch.
Couldn't help but smile and tear up at the ending bit, the song and your description was so perfect.
Wow. Just wow. Holy shit this is amazing. I need to see this movie made.

This would be amazing. I teared up
WHY CAN'T WE HAVE THIS MOVIE??? *tears....perfection*
Max if you move fast enough this could be the ending for the third movie.
I love this. This highlights to me more than anything the lack of JOY in these modern movies. Yours has this heartwarming , well thought out montage. Bay's has... creepy faces and jock antics
How would Leo get from NY to Japan and back in two weeks without taking a plane?
Gilbert Rojas watch the CGI TMNT from 2007.
I listened to this a year ago and again today and it still chokes me up
WTF happened to happy endings anyway? Where did they all go?
In an internal debate between Warner Brothers, Fox, and Sony, they all determined that Movies must be gritty, realistic, and fun was disallowed. They also determined that architecture was important, but that ultimately it must be destroyed for... reasons and stuff.
You actually made me tear up over the ninja turtles! You are one evil genius, Max. I hope you never stop coming up with amazing stories!
saw it coming but satisfying as fuck
Dude, you've just made me cry about a ninja turtle movie that doesn't even exist. It's incredible how talented you are at storytelling.
A proper shrek ending haha I loved it. Why can't you write all the cool movies?
Love your pitches, no matter how dorky they may get. This one's no different. Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing!
What are you talking about! kappas are the most honor bound spirits!
And they are very polite
I pretty sure he's just referencing TMNT3 plot about the Turtles being called Kappas (which probably isn't very accurate either)..
yeah, this part would have to be polished in pre-production, along with a few other minor things (someone should sit Max down with a collection of the most important original Mirage comics, but yeah this video is awesome)
Kappa have been used to warn children of the dangers lurking in rivers and lakes, as kappa have been often said to try to lure people into water and pull them under.
The veneration of kappa came in the late 17 th century when they supposedly saved a temple from arson by sacrificing their water from the bowl in their head.
One of my favourite video on TH-cam.
Been subscribing since you were on GameOverGreggy. Excellent pitch Max
So is Anna Kendrick's character Mona Lisa?
No, Fiona from Shrek!
+Gyorkland Holy shit, that's awesome!
This is one of my favorite videos of yours and the music part at the end is NUTS! Thanks
Max gets emotional beats very well, but his structure and reason are lacking.
I loved this so much, I wish we could have seen this on the big screen. I love how you stalled to keep it in beat with the music.
Amazing story telling. Especially matching it to the music. I could see it beat for beat in my head. Well done sir.. Well done!
It's been... I don't know how many years. But I always come back here to get the insprition I need, whenever I feel down or stuck. I don't know you, at all, but I know and can empathise with your passion at ALL times. Thank you for this, and all that you have done. But what I know is the end of this video. The part when you get emotional. It's the same emotion when I'm talking to my dad when I say to him "I'm proud of you. I cannot thank you enough for raising me this way." ----------
It's Donatello... feeling happy and giddy that all the scientists acknowledging and inviting him in in the end.
I don't even like the turtles but I could envision this so clearly it may as well have been a real movie
This has to be my favourite video you've ever made, and I'm not even a turtles fan.
Videos and ideas like this are why I follow you on Twitter and snapchat and why I watch your videos on TH-cam! Your unrelenting passion is something I really appreciate and is something that I want to be more prevalent in my own life. Dude, thank you for making this video and for pitching movies to us. It's just so much fun and I had a giant grin on my face. Thanks for sharing :D
Thank you so much, you have no idea how much I wanted to hear your TMNT pitch.
Great ending, thinking of storyboarding this.
YO I'M NOT A NINJA TURTLES FAN BUT YOUR PITCH IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE NOW
I've seen all of the pitches that you've chosen to share via video with your audience.
This brought me to bubbling man tears. Absolutely beautiful, thank you!
My only regret is that I have one Like to click!

Made me tear up. Excuse me, gonna paint my hair rainbow.
PS: Loved how he timed the music perfectly.
I revisited this following your recent Ghostbusters 3 pitch, I want more people to be aware of this one too.
I cried too. Thank you. Keep doing what you're doing.
That was awesome! I'm preparing to pitch a film, and this has been IMMENSELY helpful! Thank you for sharing this!!!
Got teary-eyed, I always love your pitches.
Loved it Max. Great pitch. I think you really captured the turtle tone!
Max, you are a dork.
But I love ya.
Thanks for being on RedLetterMedia so I could find you, buddy.
I look forward to many more dorky videos :)
your pitches are better than most movies. You're a great storyteller
