Roshi's Birthday Celebration 2017 Upaya Zen Center

On July 29th, 2017, students, teachers, faculty, and friends of Roshi Joan Halifax gathered in the Circle of the Way Temple to celebrate her 75th birthday and the 25th anniversary of the founding of Upaya Zen Center.
Hosted by Sensei Joshin Byrnes, the evening included music by Ottmar Liebert, large-scale calligraphy by Sensei Kaz Tanahashi, and a reuniting of old friends Roshi Bernie Glassman and Ram Dass by Skype. People gathered from our near and dear local Santa Fe Sangha and as far away as Japan to thank Roshi Joan and wish her the very best on her Continuation Day.
