I almost gave up on buying/installing a battery isolator until I watched this video. Ty for doing such a great job of explaining and demonstrating the why’s, how’s and what parameters to consider when choosing and installing a battery isolator. Sub’d. Peace out..:)
I just purchased the 500 amp smart isolator, hoping it will help electrical issues I’ve had trying to get a bmw to be happy with 12000 watts of lithium using 390amp alternator. My main problem turned out to be bad crank sensor but these foreign cars are sensitive to electrical changes so I’d prefer the car have its independent stock lead battery, it will absolutely leave me stranded if it can’t charge the lithium without isolation for some hair-brained reason. I really hope there isn’t a voltage drop to second lithium battery due to isolator.
Now I'm just saying, you shouldn't compare a true isolator to a solenoid type batt isolator. Not the same function at all. Both do have their place. For the people that are new to this 12v. A diode type true batt isolator with heatsink, much larger and more money will always keep main and auxiliary battery separate no matter what. Makes a big difference in some applications.
How does this actually work im looking at the 80 amp model but im wondering if the microprocessor in the product has a cut on cut off voltage i have a lithium battery im trying to put in my trunk and leave my stock battery in the oem location for electrical purposes I just don't want to irritate the car and im told its a 50/50 of whether it will act up with a battery delete the battery i bought charge's at 14.0 volts max and my car stays between 13.7-14.1 which is where I need it to be but im told lithium doesn't like it when it is constantly held at max voltage and i need something that will stop charging at 14.0 when the battery is full and kick back on around 13.5 will this work for my needs
Great video love the content I have a question if I'm using the 500 smart battery isolator then what size circuit breaker should I use? should I use (2) 500 amp circuit breakers? I'm running at 390 amp alternator in my Jeep Wrangler also running Optima HD 6 battery in the front and a XS power 3400 D battery in the rear. Also what would you recommend I do with the little battery that is used to start the car? Again I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL with a 2.0 turbo motor
Awesome video, so would the regular nvx 500A isolator work jus as good with the acc turn on instead of the smart isolator? Jus wanna separate my front agm with my d4s LTO 6.0 lithium.
I have the nvx 500 amp smart isolator and I noticed it's hot to the touch, doesn't burn my hand but almost to that point. Is this normal? It's hot even when the car has been off for hours.
Be great if you sold a solution for your really flawed manual override switch… instead of saying send it back and charging us anyways if it’s not broken… Like. It’s just a super flimsy push button that doesn’t hardly push. The connection is even worse. And then to end it all using a 3.5mm headphone jack??? No one does that. There is no other replacement option. Terrible design in that sense.
Ditch that isolater with that module and get a regular isolator and just run an ignition wire to connect both batteries only when the car is running. Your going to kill your front battery like that ..11-10v👎👎

glad it helped !

Got a BIR500 isolator. Just using it for a 24/7 dash cam. What size fuse do i use on the battery cables to the isolator?
The first amp on your right side was a 4ch for the inside speakers the left one for the subwoofer 👍
Thank you thank you Chuck!! I am looking for this to run a dual battery in my truck to run a cooler and off grid solar charger. Nice car BTW
Well those isolators are different kinds so of course one is bigger.

How long is the cable for the override switch?

yes it should
I got a similar set up did it work?
@drjoe2323 decided to go with a xs titan 8 s5 so that's what ima run parallel with my underhood battery
Thanks!
No problem.
How long is the manual switch cable, will it reach the dashboard?
about 6ft long

I would like to know this as well.
Hey! We love this video! Please send us a message we would love to work together again!

The small one looks like somebody modified my mower starter solenoid .
lol
Does your isolator red light stays on after car turns off?
Did you ever get an answer to this?
@@ElevatedHome2 yes I did thank you for asking

Why would it kill the front battery?
I’m looking to not draw power from my rear battery when cranking the engine.
