  • This video introduces and explains terminal velocity for A Level Physics.
    When an object falls and is subject to a drag force then it will end up falling at a constant velocity. The terminal velocity of a human is around 55 m/s. However, terminal velocity isn't just for falling things. Here I explore this subject in more detail.
    Thanks for watching,

    Thanks a lot for these videos, really helpful. The textbook we received is outdated and is horrible at explaining, but now it all makes sense.

    I finally understood how/why something gets to terminal velocity! 🤗

    If the earth were made of gas all the way to the center, would we accelerate as we approach the core?

    what would happen if one object is heavier than the other

    • @PhysicsOnline
      @PhysicsOnline  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Samie Mohammed Without any air resistance they would fall at the same rate. With air resistance it depends on the surface area and the mass and that combination determines how fast they fall.

    Just to clarify, is the velocity of an object free-falling increasing or decreasing as it gets to the ground?

    • @djskaghead3810
      @djskaghead3810 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Taylor Shill I believe it is increasing, until it reaches terminal velocity where it can’t go any faster. This is due to air resistance and weight being equal at terminal velocity.

      patrick thomas I teach OCR Spec A so I making videos for these first, but I am also covering the content for next years specification as well and eventually all the material for AQA, Edexcel, WJEC etc.
