Thank you Luis. You know I remember the very first time I had ice cream cake. I was 10 and we went to this place on 5th ave in Brooklyn. My birthday being on Christmas Eve it was kind o radical to eat ice cream cake in the winter no less forego the regular cake. Glad my mom was a rebel too. It wasn't the prettiest cake; a full on Christmas Tree for 15 to 20 but it was vanilla and chocolate and had carob chips. Since that year it was mostly ice cream cakes for me.
There's a famous story with Kerry. Once at the dinner table with me and her family one of her relatives was talking about watching their diet. Kerry was doing a crossword and not paying attention and yelled out "Carob Chip" when she solved one of the answers. Silence ensued from all around the table as Kerry looked up and said "What".
I have very fond memories of the Carvel in Bay Ridge that use to be on 94th street and 4th Avenue , when I a small child on Sunday mornings and my family and I would go to church service at St. Patrick's on 95th street and 4th Avenue , afterwards we'd all walk to Carvel a block away , I would usually get either a Brown Bonnet , or a Vanilla Malted , in fact after church let out there was a long line at the window to place a order,,,,, as I got older, 14 , 15 , 16 , there was a bunch of us neighborhood kids who would gather at that same Carvel almost nightly and plan our evening activities , there were plenty of good memories of that Carvel . Since that time the Carvel has been torn down and a new car dealership has been built in its place , ive been fortunate enough to have found a photo of that Carvel, and every now and then I bring it up and reminisce about better times . Thanks so much for posting this video , Godbless
I agree Roman. I used to love their flying saucers and the commercials that Frank Carvel did. You don't see as many founders doing their own commercials anymore.
Cake is great, but ice cream cake? Like a dream! Very cool video, getting an inside look at the making of one of Carvel’s masterpieces.

There’s and ingredient you don’t see often enough, carob chips. Used to love those in cookies.

I hope this is fake. This looks incredibly sloppily. I also don't believe they use soft serve and use real ice cream in the cake
