  • The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 120
Woke Marxism is an invasive, subversive force that seeks to usurp the authority of the society it infects and transform it into something under its own control. This tells us quite a bit about it and offers us an unlikely glimpse at a comprehensive strategy to fighting it. In this off-beat episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay describes a broad, comprehensive strategy for fighting Woke Marxism by analyzing it from the perspective of traditional five-element theory. Join him to get a ton of ideas for useful things to do.

"You’re simply amazing and have been able to verbalize clearly so many of my vague feelings that things were very very wrong."
That is his profound talent in a nutshell. When it comes to Critical Theory, I get the same sense listening to him as i do reading G.K. Chesterton. Chesterton had the ability to easily swing a wrecking ball into the errors of thought of his day. He did it not with complexity, but by finding the most fundamental part of the error and stating it so artfully and with comedy that while reading him, one gets the feeling of, "So that is why those ideas always seemed so wrong to me."
Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees. We know something isn't quite right, but can't articulate why. Lindsey is the guy who can clearly articulate those deep seated 'feelings' in a way that makes you smack yourself on the side of the head and think, "Yeah! That's it! That is why I feel this way."

Hey, whoever you are. I think another appropriate analogy would be comparative studies. Comparative literature, comparative art, comparative history, comparative sociology etc. goes beyond the obvious and studies what’s going on and what the subtext and true processes are going on that may not be immediately evident from a direct interpretation of the text.
I’ve tried to focus on that my entire life, originally incidentally, but after I received awareness of it in during an esoteric architecture program in New York during my early 20s i got pretty excited about how that can really be helpful in eliminating the BS and getting to the core of any issue. Does it mean 1 or it will always be correct but it can be fun and also constructive.

One weakness I see in the Woke is their over reliance on institutions. This could potentially be turned against them, for example if in the UK we got rid of positive discrimination, it would greatly blunt their spear, if we got rid of protected groups ( return to treating all equal under the eyes of the law) it would drive away grifters who would presumably go on to seek other opportunities to grift

I loved having a high level analysis of the issue and pointing out how these cycles have played out before to the detriment of everyone and how we can move forward in knowledge of that huge mistake most backlashes bring upon themselves and that the other side is counting on. I think you should be crafting this into your next round of speeches to larger audiences minus the embarrassment as I didn’t think that was necessary at all, it’s the rigorous scientist/mathematician in you but this played more to the creative, outside of the box side of things and there are plenty of people this lands with with because you’re framing the subject matter in a get-able outline and it really provoked a lot of creative ideas for me. One example is Manzanita, which is a shrub that has very oily wood that catches fire easily and burns hot enough to melt iron, which it does to burn down competition plants so its seeds can grow on the scorched earth. It burns down the plains and forests to create more scrub land for itself to proliferate. Yes, it’s very unfortunate that the Chinese government doesn’t allow religion or philosophy to dictate their culture. If religious teachings and philosophical ideas were taught and promoted as part of their culture it would be easier for the Chinese people to see how they are being manipulated.

You don't fight evil by being evil. Because if you win, you create a society as bad or worse than what you fought. You beat evil than being better than it. No to purging. Yes to leading by example.
Example: Woke culture has reached the point where they fight racism with racism. For example, they teach that white people are inherently inferior to everyone else because they are intrinsically part of the system of oppression and white culture is inherently oppressive, and the only way for them to be good is give up their power. This leads to slavery, just of some other race.
Second example: Woke culture fights sexism with sexism. Hollywood has gotten to the point where their female characters must be infallible and that means that men must be by comparison fundamentally flawed. The worst offender in recent memory is the Last Jedi-- every time a woman has an idea it's presented as above reproach. Every time a man has an idea it's presented as stupid, useless, or counter-productive (except for the villain?) Luke performs one good act which entails killing himself and getting himself out of the way of the female protagonist. Main message of the movie? Women are inherently good and men are inherently flawed. Men need to get out of the way of women and we'll have a perfect society. Sexism. Just the other way around.
      Don't be like them.

33:39 So you bring up lawsuits. I have noticed you and Tim Pool bring up lawsuits as a way of fighting wokeness, and I have responded in the comments in the past trying to find out how to go about suing if you can't afford a lawyer and have been ignored and the few times I have gotten a response (not from you or Tim Pool, but fellow viewers) the only advise I was given was to contact legal aid as if that wasn't basically the first thing I tried. I started by calling lawyers to see if they take cases on contingency, but none of the ones I called were even willing to hear me out to see if I have a case in the first place. They expect payment just for a consultation. I am not rich, I can't afford to go lawyer shopping if they all expect payment just to tell me they don't want to take my case, whether because they don't think it has legal merit or they are ideologically opposed to it (lawyers don't exactly advertise their politics and I don't want to get some woke lawyer who will purposely sabotage my case). The one lawyer I was able to actually talk to who didn't filter me out through their receptionist wouldn't even hear me out. As soon as I asked about contingency he outright said no and suggested I call the OR state bar. I did that. It was an endless automated loop where I couldn't get through to an actual person and none of the options applied to my cases.
I have multiple cases against woke institutions that, based on my layman's understanding of the law, I feel have merit, could damage wokeness and their policies/set legal precedent, and could be profitable if I was just able to find a lawyer with an axe to grind against wokeness who is willing to help on contingency. Not asking for pro bono work. Just contingency, and if a lawyer is confident in their skills as a lawyer, I don't see why that would be a big deal, since they could take a cut of whatever is won in the lawsuit or a settlement. The problem is, I don't know where to look. I tried the legal aid/State Bar route, I tried google. I honestly have no clue what to do at this point. I want to pursue these cases, I have been gathering evidence, but I can't even get a damn lawyer to hear me out because apparently legal justice is only for those who are financially well off and/or connected in some way.

Although it might be useful for an Easterner, for a Westerner, the five element analogy is a needless diversion. There are plenty of analogies already common to Western thought we could use to generate counters to Woke actions.
All the time we spend thinking about the nature of Woke, after we already have a good enough understanding of Woke, instead of acting against Woke, is time wasted.

  • @meinking22
    @meinking22 ปีที่แล้ว +3

While I appreciate the effort, this is overly complicated. Defeating the Woke is fairly easy. 'Accountability' is their poison. Holding the Woke accountable, especially through satire as suggested (because Wokeism lacks any sense of humor) and public exposure, is key. Of course, defunding them is important as well. Most of the Woke have no real productive talent or skill and produce no real product or service of value. This is why they must leech off of existing systems to survive. Cut off funding to those systems and the Woke will die on the vine.
Given the above, it should be no surprise that Woke infiltration is most pernicious in bureaucratic positions funded by others (NGOs, Government, Public Employee Unions) with low accountability and visibility. Those bureaucratic networks are what should be the loci of any offensive attacks and Woke participants in those networks should be publicly outed and named.

I have a heathy network re: people who support me if I, say, lost my job. However, the whole wokeness issue is another story. There simply is no support network, because I break the carinal rule of "keeping the family peace." I don't care about family peace since I consider the issue religious, both as my primary fuel and as people in my Greek Orthodox Church here in the States are at risk. I lost almost every single one of my friends, except for my stormchasing partner (who is going through issues himself) and some friends I know face to face who don't live here.
I have nobody to talk to. I've tried crying out to my wife, to my Priest, to God. God, in His Wisdom, has seen fit that I bear this cross alone, and it is an increasing temptation just to unload this burden and pretend to believe in this wokeness crap again. I've never been in a place where nobody, not even my wife, wants to listen to me, even after reforming my formerly emotional, enraged word choices and tone when speaking about the subject. Nobody wants to hear it because it's easier to pretend around here, and people have too many kids to start up these kinds of fire and lose the career that's feeding them.
