      @@ttime808 I just got back into diving like last week to stop the fogging run a lighter on the inside of the mask there's a silicon layer inside once that's burned off just rub it clean with a towel and when u get to the beach spit and the naupaka leaf. But the secret is to not touch the lens with your bare fingers while rubbing with the spit and naupaka leaf hold onto the leaf and rub rinse a few times then should be good

    first off thanks for all the education, love your videos. i dive a lot and just starting to get into spearfishing, i just have a question about how you tow your buoy behind you? where do you attach the float line?

    • @ernestocreto1689
      @ernestocreto1689 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      there are two ways, you can attach it to your weight belt or waist or you can pull it all with your free hand. i prefer pulling it with my free hand and dropping it when you are read to make your dive. be sure to tie a 2-4 oz lead weight on the end to keep it from drifting away.

    Do you suggest getting tighter fins or fins with a little play? I went to check out fins but don't know if I should get it tight or loose and wear it with a sock or something. I'm a size 11 the cressi hf 10/11 fits with a little play but the 8/9 is tight and my toes come out through the hole.

    • @FishandDiveHawaii
      @FishandDiveHawaii  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How loose is the other one? I wouldn't recommend tight fins cuz your feet will start cramping up fast. I would recommend the looser one for sure, depending on how loose it is

    I know this might seem stupid but I'm wondering why all this gear is "needed" Why do you need a mask and snorkel if you're not diving too deep. Why do you also need a wetsuit in that warm Hawaiian water? Grated I haven't been spearfishing before so this commment might just be pure ignorance but I figure if this guy can do it why can't I?

      safety equipment is required by law and it warns boaters that there is a diver in the area and to stay a safe distance away to prevent getting run over. i have in my experience where a boat drove directly over me when i was on the bottom. there are also instances where divers got run over and hit by the props.your mask helps you to see more clearly under water because it creates an air pocket between the lens and the water. your snorkel enables you to keep your head under the water and continually allows you to breathe while searching the area. if not you will be bobbing all day long for air and you won't last long out there. wetsuits are an option and it does keep you warm even though hawaiian waters are warm compared to other parts of the world. it also protects you from jelly fish stings(portugese man o' war). your fins help you navigate during your dive increasing your dive time along with the other basic dive equipment. divng barefoot without a mask,snorkel and fins will get you nowhere and NO FISH, trust me. Diver for more than 50 years There isn't a place which is divable on the island of Oahu where i haven't been.
