Today's video was a fun video where I attempt to save whatever fish and animals I could find in this pet store dumpster before the Hurricane Helene hit us! The first dumpster I checked was completely empty and way smaller than most of the dumpsters I find containing aquarium fish but I will definitely check back on it in the future and see if anyone throws anything in there on another day! The dumpster we ended up finding TONS of exotics in turned out to be crazy one, as soon as I started to approach the dumpster there was a RABID RACCOON that almost attacked me! I decided not to get between him and the dumpster and when the time was right I scared him off to discover that he tried eating one of the fish someone dumped in there! Once I quickly got the fish secured in the keeper bucket we ended up finding so many species of aquarium fish such as loaches, koi, guppies, platys, exotic freshwater shrimp, stingrays and so much more!
What an insane day at the dumpster! I thought that raccoon was gonna attack me! What was your favorite rescue!?
It's a Chinese hyphen otherwise known as banded shark
I loved you barking at the racoon
@@RobsAquatics yeah ,keep making good content
🔥👌🏽
Cool video man . But you get some light on the aquarium. It will look way better
You really should have a quarantine tank or 2
Good fish shippers will put in methyline blue in with the fish to keep stress low and have lower risk of illness. They hopefully aren't sick.
Yes, it is the best cure for Whitespot I know of.
Lmao the dog barking 😂... Keep up the good work u do can't wait for the next video
That fish is called a Chinese hi fin banded shark
I love those dumpster videos
As always, I'm here to show support. More dumpster vids!
Shouldn't u quarantine these fish before adding them?
That’s a high fin loach 4:43
Dude someone needs to stop them from just throwing live shit away - freaking disgusting- great job Rob
bro wheres your boots? let us know if the shark survived.
I hope to goodness , you washed your feet and legs before entering the house.
These dumpster videos are my favorite
Those Chinese High Fin Banded Sharks can get up to 24 inches in length. The are supposed to be very good cold water fish to keep with Koi and Goldfish.
The little flat fish is indeed some sort of hillstream loach. I couldn't get a close enough look to know for sure, but it may be a Borneo loach, or a Chinese gold ring loach. There are over 200 species of hillstream loach, and without a good look, you just can't be certain. I couldn't get a good enough look at the head of the last fish to make any sort of a reliable ID.
The shrimp will do very well with a sponge filter. They will also do really well if you put some rather porous rock and some wood in with some coarse substrate. They like to eat algae, and rough rock, driftwood, and coarse gravel will give algae plenty of places to attach to. You do not want the tank to get overgrown with algae, but a little will make them very happy. They do have specific food needs, but if you buy foods specifically designed for shrimps they'll do quite well. Personally I prefer Logemann Bros. line of produts, which includes Bacter AE, which is a well respected name in everything shrimp nutrition.
Rob, the high finned banded shark can get up to 4 feet in length so youll nees to tranfer it to a bigger tank and then into a pond at some point. I have 2 in my 1800 gallon koi pond
wow ur an awesome person
One of my favorite things you do! Thanks for the video Rob and camera girl!
The first one you asked is a Chinese Loach also called Chinese HiFin Banded Shark.
You barking at the raccoon was great😂 these dumpster rescues are my favorite videos! 😊
Good
Hope you got through the hurricane okay. My friend's family lives in Tampa, lost power, but seem to have weathered it.
Concern is at most tempting treasures, be carefully with the helene
Set up an aquascape nano tank for the shrimp 🦐
The blue in the water is an anti stress med so they dont die in transit
Love the video rob
that is sad and cool that there are fish in the bin
ANOTHER BANGER FRIM ROB🤯🤯😁😁
Stay safe in this hurricane. Look after cameragirl, sending love and prayers from Australia 🇦🇺
I love everything you do. Finding fish in a dumpster would NEVER occur to me. Thank you for your work.
Thank you for saving the fish. I hope the shark gets better soon. Love you dumpster videos. I remember when you used to have a whole tank of cherry shrimp breeding. You could do that again with the shrimp. 😻😻😻😻💙💙💙💙
Yeah you better keep that leather man tool handy. Otherwise a gang of raccoons might come back and abduct the camera girl.
😂🤣😂

I have seen videos of companies that ship fish across the nation that they use some kind of blue tint super oxygenated water before they pack them up for shipping?
If your power goes out during a storm, do you have a way to keep air going in the tanks? How do you prepare for storms/hurricanes.
What is crazy my husband has been dumpster diving a lot but never for fish we live in Texas and he just got a chance to use his traps for the first time and we had 10 little turtles in one of our traps and one Texas sickled

Great video!!!!
under 1 hour 👇
Stay safe!
It is so crazy and cruel how so many fish and other creatures get dumped in dumpsters like rubbish. As for the Racoon it is just as crazy that they are looking for food in dumpsters and that food could be thrown out fish.
Roooooooob
🔥
Taking stuff from private dumpsters is theft. You can be arrested for it
You are a big tough guy ready to defend yourself but put you in a dumpster and you turn into a little wimp, does make me laugh.
It’s just disgusting
@@RobsAquatics You need to put your big boy pant on lol
You both are so great! Going out prior to the hurricane and in a dumpster!! You're saints!!
And screw that raccoon !!!! Lol
It’s called methylated blue the treatment they use but it doesn’t explain why they are throwing them out in the garbage bin
Live fish in dumpster? Y not they release it to nearby lake or pond etc?
You barked like a big ol savage dog big Bob and racoon said duces yawdadaming
Great job 👏
Hi
They usually put the blue water to make the fish calm in transportation. It's a medicine that makes them sleepy.
do you ship fish to Canada ?
Metilen blue for external parasites 🦠
