Good information. But need a correction. There are only four officers in India who are called four star general, admiral and air chief marshal. One newly created chief of defence staff and three services chiefs. They are equivalent to cabinet secretary in pay and status. The IB director doesn’t wear any uniform neither four stars are assigned on his staff car or uniform collars. Apart from cds and three services chiefs, there are two more cabinet secretary rank officers; one is cabinet secretary himself and the other is isro chairman.
Brother cds chief, army,navy, airforce chief's position are not equivalent to cabine secretary... according to precidence table of india cabinet secretaries position is higher than all four star officer......btw cabinet secretary(IAS) is the highest position of government..

Content is good, except the last one, the insignia of the director cbi. This insignia is of the army chief. The four star full general. As on date, there are only 4 four star officers; three services chieves and one CDS. And there are six All India service officers who have been placed at highest cabinet secretary scale; one cabinet secretary himself, then ISRO chairman, CDS and three services chieves of army, navy and airforce. CBI director is equivalent to secretary or special secretary and to the best of my knowledge, has the DGP's insignia, a three star officer. Must be clear now. Anyone is welcome to correct if I am wrong anyway.

The other evidence is the pay which is ₹ 225000/- fixed, whereas services chiefs, cabinet secretary and isro chairman are placed on the highest fixed scale of ₹250000/-. Until 1982, the police had the highest two star rank only. After this year, the head of any police force is a 3 star officer. Present days, there are many three star police officers, roam around.

commissioner is a post DGP is a rank every city has commissioners with different ranks In metro cities IG's are placed as commissioners
