I'm from Mansfield. I moved away in 1995. I've moved around a lot. I currently live in Northern Ireland. I try to visit family in Mansfield at least once a year. I love the train ride from Nottingham into town. When I was growing up in the 70s there were only coal trains. Like many towns Mansfield TC has taken a hit from the loss of industry, the development of out of town retail parks and online shopping. But I think the people are great and the town has many positives.
Love Wes, I work cleaning the streets and see him most days, lovely bloke and brings a great atmosphere around town, feels weird going around emptying the bins and not hearing him, love how this was filmed!
My niece Phoebe made this, she did a great job and the people in the film are lovely. I worked for Karon at Henshaws as my first job, and am still friends with her today. And I'm fairly sure I met Wes at a party MANY years ago, in a forest outside Mansfield somewhere.
My home town, loved it growing up, moved away in 1958 to west Norfolk, met Shane Fenton and the Fentones at the Kings Lynn Corn Exchange, told them I was from Mansfield and I was back stage with them. lovely people, Mansfield people, I have great memories of growing up there and of High Oakham school, a place that shaped me for my life, the school song everyday at assembly "Jerusalem."
A lot of the young men of Mansfield crewed the first North sea oil rig for BP (Sea Gem) they were called ' The Mansfield Mafia' I helped to build and install the drilling machinery..Fred Harper..Mansfield man....
Me and my family apent about 6 years in Mansfield in the 80s. I remember the markets and the four seasons shopping centre. The big music store called Revolver. There used to be a big fruit and veg shop as you went in and a Tesco's located under the bus station. Not been back for over 25 years. 😢
I agree that Mansfield is an excellent place. I have not been back since 1980. I was born and bred there in 1957. I just wept at the other videos that depict the town as a run-down dump; I was shocked to see one made on a Saturday Afternoon in the Marketplace; no one was there, and about 10 stalls How things have changed, and what happened to all the pubs
Love this - thank you so much for sharing. Lived in Mansfield for several years and so often see you in the town centre. Happy I stumbled on this. Great production and interviews
Oh my word! I moved out of Mansfield about 10 years ago and I still remembered your face! I used to always stop to listen to you from a distance, we did have a brief conversation once but I imagine you've had so many of those over that years that you're unlikely to remember. Glad to see you're still at it, I didn't realise you'd been doing it for so long 😮
Once a mansfield person always a mansfield person anyone can take the person out of the town but won't take the mansfield out of thereselves proud to be part of the town ❤
What's not to love about this video!? 1000% aspire for brighter days 🌻I'm from Mansfield and left my day job in lockdown creating my own business helping clients using hypnotherapy in America, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand.... anyone with an Internet connection! 🌻I enjoy living in a village close to Mansfield and the community spirit. People really do look out for one another. I'm a member of the local gym and running group and go to the local Parkrun on Saturday morning. My husband who is from Nottingham remarked how he walked to the local shop for a pint of milk and a young lad greeted him with "morning"! Martins getting used to the meet and greets and someone asking about opening times for shops in the local Facebook group!! 😂😂
Always be proud where your from and fair play to Mansfield . I will now deliberately have a weekend there in a hotel . Cheers for this really nice video
Just come across this video :) im from Mansfield. Born and Bred. Can see Wes Dolan on this video and hes such a great bloke! Always says hello and i always give him a couple of quid or a drink from Mcdonalds. Was nice that the community came together and rallied to support Wes when the scummy council came in and banned him for 24 hours for no reason! I love the Community of Mansfield and when i move ill never forget my roots!!!
Hey Wes, it's Mel Fegan. Hope you're all good. Oi Oi, It's our Mansfield! 😅 Didn't realise you had a YT channel, I'd have subbed way earlier had I found it sooner. As you know I always love hearing you, keep up the great work! 👌🏼
I was born in mansfield in 1942 and spent the first twenty one years of my life there,it was really a lovely market town. The folk are similar to back then but what a shame the loopy town planners were given free rein to destroy the place in the name of progress.
Oh my gosh! Your the dude that busks outside Costa, I used to work there, June til October this year loved your vibe dude, music and always when going on a break and getting lunch hearing it 🤘 noice vid
I'm from Mansfield and always feel the warmth of people when I visit. Like many towns in the UK, it's been ruined by car culture, with little to enjoy when visiting the town. Get rid of the cars and the town will again become a centre of a forest worth visiting.
Hi my name is kate but I use my husband's account lol, this channel just popped up on my phone lol,you don't need to tell me how good mansfield is ,I live about 45minutes from there and 22years ago I went there for a night out (I had never been before) and that night I met my husband, he's was the most lovely genuine man I had ever met and over the years I have found mansfield to be a great place with lovely friendly people, I always say if you want a good man get yourself to MANSFIELD! the clues in the name lol, kate. 🤗
I'm originally from Grantham, the perception I had of Mansfield is a tough working class town, after watching this I'm wrong it's a very middle-class town
Tough working class is probably closer, but nowhere is completely homogeneous. Berry Hill and High Oakham could easily be somewhere like Cheltenham or in the home counties somewhere, contrast them with Ladybrook or Oak Tree
Love the comments that says I left in the 1980s and it was a amazing place to live. So I question why they left such a amazing place. In 2024 It's run down and drug infested most people are waiting for coal to make a come back 😂 people who left the pits with the big payouts spent it all in the miner's welfare.
