Sefiu Alao's New Album, "Unity" (Isokan): Addressing The Emerging Misconception
Fuji music star, Alhaji (Dr.) Sefiu Alao Adekunle, Baba Oko, Agbara Orin, is about to release a new album. The new album is titled: "Unity" which literally translates to "Isokan" in Yoruba which happens to be the language of Fuji music. And since a small portion of the songs in the album was taken out and posted on the social media for the purpose of promoting the album ahead of its release date, a misconception has emerged from some members of the public.
What is the misconception? The misconception emanated from the believe by some people that the album, "Unity", is a campaign material for the presidential ambition of the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. But the truth is that the content and concept of the album is very far from that.
So, what is the actual content and concept of the album? You must be wondering. Without mincing words, the album is a clarion call on sons and daughters of the Yoruba origin, home and abroad, to come together and stand as one to confront the forces militating against the peaceful existence of the Yoruba people. The album solemnly addresses the issue of the killer herdsmen who are already invading Yoruba Land.
Moreover, the album also dwells on the need by Yoruba leaders to have a common front in ensuring that the Yoruba people are not relegated to the background in the scheme of things in Nigeria. And that was the point Sefiu Alao sang about the Yoruba people rallying behind the candidacy of Tinubu after he had emerged the flag bearer of the ruling APC. Because, beyond any other form of sentiment, Tinubu has become the only political figure that the Yoruba people have to take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria as the 2023 General Elections draw closer.
The point herein is that, when a Yoruba man becomes the President, there would be a better ground to negotiate and achieve other goals and desires that the Yoruba people want, than the Presidency going to other parts of the country. Once you have one of your own in charge, the tendency is higher that he would discharge better deliverables to his people than letting the number one position in the country slip into the hands of those who don't understand your real agitations.
In essence, the album, "Unity", by Sefiu Alao, is a call on Yoruba people to think deep and see the bigger picture that, it is only when the Yoruba people unite and stand together that all the desires and aspirations they have, could be achieved in the country called Nigeria. And the Tinubu part in the album was only cited as an example of how the Yoruba people could unite and support one of their own to achieve a common goal in the long run.
Finally, the album would be released into the music market nationwide on Monday, July 4th, 2022 (tomorrow), so, make sure you grab a copy, listen to it with open mind, and digest the messages loaded in it accordingly. Without doubt, "Unity" promises to be one of the best Fuji music albums of this era. Trust me.
