I loved the rant you gave about how if you like something keep on doing it, my parents aren't to fond that I like making music and have gone through so many lengths to get me out of it but hearing your story motivated me to do even better at what i love.
I started cutting my hair in the summer going to 9th grade too. Always had some type of Mohawk or something in middle school but I came across your videos and ended up cutting it all off with my dads clippers. I was determined to get waves and cut my hair like you. I’ve been cutting my hair since I was about 14. 5 years later I’m still cutting my hair and watching all your videos. Crazy!!!

moved from new york to utah and couldnt find anyone that could cut black hair good, got some clippers and tools from online and looked up self cut videos, liked yours the most. i always got a dark ceaser since i was a kid but now that im cutting my own hair im trying all kinds of different cuts that i see you do on myself and my nephew and im liking it, definitely treating it like art. between cutting myself and my nephew i saved so much money. i can do touch ups whenever i feel so it looks fresh the whole week.
Inspiration right here. I have been cutting my own hair on and off for about 5 years. Started out with just buzzing it cause I liked that look. Then i went to start fading my hair. It was absolutely terrible, but with trial and error you will get there. Now for about the last 2 years I have been wanting to go to barber school, but where I live it is very far away. But now if everything goes as planned I will be starting my Apprenticeship at my cousins barber shop. Things are looking up and I'm going for it. Thanks for the motivation Jeezy!!!!

Shout out to pops. I'm years late to this video because I only needed to watch your wave videos when I first started waving in 2015 (which is when I subscribed). But now, years later in 2021 it's time to start cutting my own hair. So I'm watching you and all our fellow wavers to pick up more tips. I'm very self-confident so I don't care if I mess up. But, I'm tired of barbers cutting against the grain and cutting my waves out, as well as pushing my line back. I'm going to learn through trial and error how to cut my waves. All I get is an even all over with a a boxed line in the back. I never really get tapers. So I should be fine. Thanks for all that you do brother!

Ive been cutting my own hair for 10 years and there have been dozens of horrible cuts, but you have to be humble and take a bunch of L’s before you get good. Just make sure you always keep up on your blade adjustments.. Nothin worse than goin from half closed to all the way closed on addident..

You never lied. I was 14 when I first started cutting my own hair. Never been a barber shop a day in my life still. I'm 33 now so many years of experience now. But when I first started, I never had a hand mirror. So what I could see was on point. But had patches in the back. Cut looked good tho, till my older brother pointed it out to me. Then he cut it down for me. But like you said repetition. I'll never let anyone cut my hair ever. I'm no longer a waver. Have had locs for 10 years, just cut them off but started them over right away. Gree up cutting my homies hair then branched off to others thru word of mouth. I'm sharp foreal. Cut my kids now and all of their friends. It's a good feeling to know they'll rather come to me then go to the shop. I've been watching you since back in your original waver videos. Now with the barber videos you've taught me so much brodie. Appreciate you man. I gotta get those andis master's next. I don't have the t outliners. I actually have the headliners. You’re story and my story are basically the same. I also started cutting my own hair since I was 14 years old and had to go bald to high school but as I got better at 16 I was looking fresh with a short part high bald fade. Definitely agree with you. No one can cut it to your liking like yourself or they can yeah but doing it yourself after 8 years is more therapeutic in a way.

i can do my taper easy, but tried to do my hightop fade and boy🙏...i wrecked one side looked super blocky with no gradient, since it was only one side i just blened it the best i could without making it too different from the other side...3 days later it was all good cause my hair grows back quick, god bless

S/O to pops! My dad never cut my hair but he took me to the barber shop he went to as a kid. A new barber fire need my head up when I was 15 and that was enough. I grabbed my dad's clippers and sat my younger brother down and gave him a cut. It was honestly dope. My brother went outside to play after his cut and everybody went crazy libert it. I made $40 that first day at $5/person. I became the barber for friends, relatives, neighbors, etc., and word of mouth spread. Been at it ever since.
I still need to get licensed though, so...there's that.
Anyway, I love barbering. People's haircuts are the first thing I look at when I'm out and about. I love watching these videos and I love learning about the latest products and techniques. Some people like shoes, purses, fitted hats, cars...I like clippers, barber supplies and fresh cuts.

Yo Jeezy! I’m 47 years and you spoke to me about regretting not investing in myself in this video. I’ve been cutting hair for 32 yrs and never went to barber school. I got talked out of going to barber school because I’m a lil long on the tooth. So, I ended up investing in myself a different way of technical school and completely different direction. I don’t know if I will change but I needed to share my regret. Man, you inspire me and I appreciate your dedication and yeah shout out to pops lol

william chen nah, only if the blade is set too close and your skin is sensitive. The front tends to be tougher skin than the neck, in my experience.

Was bald all throughout highschool because of alopecia. But once I graduated and stopped getting stressed out, my hair grew back and I began to cut my own hair. 5 years strong !
