    Why is this only 4 minutes long? I think we could watch this man go over every little detail of this plane for hours. 👍

    Chuck's the real star of the show, real old school mechanic, the world needs a lot more like him. Most of the newbie's I work with aren't worth the space they take up, a few month's with Chuck would sort them out.

    from one Aircraft Mechanic to another , Chuck is the man I have learned so much from the old timer engineers/mechanics they have knowledge that can't be bought or read out of a book it's good ole hands on experience and that's gold

      2023: I have flown on a DC3. Once with American Airlines when I was a kid. My father worked for American and once with the FAA when they were checking out the new runway approach VASI Lights that we had just installed at Cannon AFB in New Mexico in 1974. No GPS then. Just look our the window.

    As a prior P-3 Orion mechanic I agree with others here. CHUCK IS AWESOME!!! I've been out for 13yrs and he just made me feel like I was back in the Navy. He acts exactly like a Flight Engineer. You are one cool cat bro!
    Pull out all those breakers and make them pee their pants. (I noticed you pulled #2's Temp Datum breaker, yeah nice, you should see a flux on your TIT gauge)
    You are also 100% correct Chuck, that is one awesome airplane and they don't make them like that anymore. She's a beast! Fuel PIG for sure!!!.
    Though the T56-A14 put out 4600 shaft horsepower so we could beat that old pig's speed easy.

      got to test the first C models the navy bought. We loaded it with bags of buckshot and took it out to test it under positive and negative g's. Bent the right wing up
      and the left wing down.....(a little). It brought us back and we ferried it across the country to Burbank. Boy was Lockheed pissed! Fantastic airplane though.

      British-mechanic Agreed, the gentleman's way of explaining the various aspects of the aircraft is excellent and enjoyable. The only problem I've got is the habit of the wings falling off. Check out "The Tell City Crash"on Google. Don't let him kid you, he says "ooott" instead of out just like a real Canuck, but he was born in Tampa, raised in Manhattan (upper east side) New York City, educated at Villanova and Penn. He's high society man, The last time he ate dinner without wearing a Tux was when he went to one of those uppity summer camps in the Poconos, he was 10.

    Thanks Chuck. Greetings from Dunedin, New Zealand. Gotta love the L188, once they got the wings and harmonics sorted out of course! It has stood the test of time and still going. How come they don't have to throw them away once they have done so many cycles of pressurization? is it just that they still have many cycles left in the airframes because those particular birds are relatively low cycle and/or low time planes?

    • @andytaylor1588
      @andytaylor1588 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Canadian airplanes are routinely bought by the Americans to examine the airframes, because we use them for thousands of hours past what the Americans use theirs. Particularly in our Air Force.

    • @DARANGULAFILM
      @DARANGULAFILM 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@geezerhull It was a Viscount, not an Electra. The cause was a mandatory repair done wrong which intiated a crack in the main spar and a wing came off. A young girl on Indee Station remembered the crash. Her mother described the severed wing coming down like a falling leaf. The girl grew up frightened of aircraft and only last year in late middle age, flew in an airliner for the first time.

    • @qasimmir7117

    Wonderful AND beautiful plane! Yes, “aesthetics” mean a LOT to me!! Probably one of the nicest planes ever built! BUT the mechanics “nasty language” was terrible at times! No need for that!!! Can’t show this video to family now! Seems like “mechanics’ language” in general is “foul” (not fowl!)! WHY? It must reflect on their parents? I know, “i should talk”!!! Yes, many times I’m ashamed! Anyway, the Lockheed is one very wonderful AND beautiful plane! Makes me want to go out & buy a nice model of one!!! “Ach du lieber, mein schatz”!
