Down in Tahipite Valley, Crown Creek is basically impassable early season. From higher up on Blue Canyon Trail as in the video, you can see that Crown Creek is challenging. And that trail is listed as 'intermediate visibility'. Fun times.
Right back at you man! Both Lyell and Black Giant were massive undertakings that I don't think I would be ready for, I get inspiration for you as well.
what an ADVENTURE many creeks and an amazing summit. That descent crux looked slightly spicy with that 1000ft or so drop to the right! Glad you went skiiers left. Miss ya man
Thanks for checking this out!! I agree it was a little more than I was expecting for the first outing of the year. Hope you are doing well. We are moving to Nashville this summer so we won't be able to see you in SF, but if you ever end up in the south, please let me know!
Thanks so much! This is a cool spot to visit and one you may have to on your SPS journey. I have been loving your conent recently as well, Black Giant was big, and I have a Freel-Job's Sister-Job's vid coming soon as well, you have been a great inspiration and very helpful!
Love the views from the dome! Not sure I could do that! I do have a question though…have you ever done Mount Goddard? I understand there is a class 2 route that is doable. I was wondering if you have a site you go to to get routes for potential climbs?
We attempted Mt. Goddard when we did the JMT in 2021. If you check out that video you will see a little of it, we didn't make it. I have heard a little about the class 2 routes from the west but never really been near them, its a monster approach. I use summitpost, mountain project, Bob Burd's trip reports and RJ Secor's High Sierra book, along with alot of time in Gaia GPS and Copernicus Browser for satellite imagery. Good luck out there, I want to do Goddard really bad, you can see it from so many places the views on top must be rad.
@@Wanksteez Thank for the reply! I now have a permit (easy to get) to go into the area over Hell For Sure Pass and will pass by Goddard on our was from Martha Lake to Wanda Lake...going to make a lollipop loop out of the trip, going down Evolution Valley and then back up Goddard Canyon and out the way we came. I got RJ Secor's book. Will probably just explore the base this time. I hope you can get a chance to climb Goddard, I would really enjoy a trip report from you! Thanks again, take care and safe travels.
Thanks for acknowledging the bushwhacking, it was alot. I don't think Rancheria was closed, but I wanted to do Spanish Mountain as well, which is more Crown Creek. Between a bad creek crossing and a change of plans that required me to get back a little earlier than I originally planned, I didn't do Spanish. I hiked out the higher route closer to Rancheria to avoid the creek crossing, and it would have been nice to park there for sure.
Nice production and editing. Beautiful scenery!
Thanks!

I can believe it, its a little rough out there.
Your videos are always inspiring.

Love the adventure and originality. Sweet hike!
Thanks! There is alot of adventure to be had in the Sierra Nevada.
Wow that was crazy!!!
Thanks, its a wild place I feel very fortunate to have been able to see.
Great trip - appreciate the details - this peak is on my short list!!!
Nice, you will have no trouble with it, just pack your patience.
Gorgeous scenery ! I've enjoyed the video very much 👍
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it!
Man, absolutely crushing it! Wishing I could get out there with you, but I know your pace! haha
Thanks man! I wish you could have been there too, this was a big one, 23 miles in 13 hours (9 with the full pack), I was spent.
Excellent video! I too enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing it!
That's great, thanks so much for the support!

Was Rancheria closed still due to snow? Crown Creek Trailhead adds like 2-3 extra miles.
Also congrats on the summit. That brush whacking is no joke.

@@Wanksteez I've done it 3 or 4 times, I can't get up the courage to do the cat walk. That exposure is spicy.
Yeah, crown valley kills plans.
