As far as I can make out the customer service dept.. is in Nigeria which makes communication difficult.Spent an hour last week trying to convince them that I have lived in the same house in Scotland for 40 odd years and not the address in England they say I live at..After an hour they disconnected the call and I am no further for it..Don't know whose electricity bill I am paying..
There should be a public enquiry!
For God's sake, LEAVE British Gas. I have, and am so glad I did after seeing this. They make obscene profits and can't even get the basics like billing right. Their overeseas customer service staff can barely string a sentence together in English.
British Gas is the worst Energy Company in the UK.
You'll be lucky if you get to speak to anyone!!
And then, you'll be lucky if they can speak English!!
British Gas is an appalling company.
I was chucked over to them after my supplier got bought out by venture capitalists, and then went bust.
I didn't choose British Gas, but they treated me awfully.
Their customer service was 0/10, and I left just so I could get better service.
Thank god I did.
So that’s an extra £50 million going to a call centre in India then.

We are in the same mess, British gas lies are to much, don't know what to do, got a high bill and reading don't match up with meter,
They forgot to mention the £8 million bonus invested into their CEO’s salary this year. Causing immense upset and stress to thousands of customers on a daily basis. They should 100% be investigated.

There can be no excuse for this. It would not be difficult to put checks in place to flag up if a customers bill is beyond, say, two standard deviations beyond what would be expected for that property at a given time of year. Utterly feckless.
To be fair, I have smart gas and electric meters and ,so far, all is going well with bills, but I keep a close watch on things! I you do get through to them the person hasn't a clue about the English language,it's horrible.
Smart meters are a big con.
The guy with 200k in credit should have asked for a refund! 🤣

He put the wrong meter reading in. As AI deals with everything it can't cope with any out of the usual situations.
So guy put in wrong readings , then excepted to not have to pay his bill and be credited the money ? Sounds more like a him problem.
The report didn't say he was the one who did this.
