      From watching his stuff for the long term, I love his "always learning, always a student" mentality. I feel like just because of that, any other quirks he may or may not have are excusable. When I can do it, im definitely going to take some of his classes. Im broke right now but I wont be forever!

    Bro, I have a good job but, I'm NOT rich. I have a family, two boys and a wife. I have a house and cars to pay for. I don't have to scrape together a couple hundred bucks for a pistol but, I need to justify the cost. I can justify spending a couple hundred bucks on a weapon I KNOW will work and better yet last. You help me make that choice and for that, I am so grateful. THANK YOU, keep up the great work.

    I own and love my Taurus G2C. I have 5200 rounds through mine now. At 1500 rounds at cleaning I noticed that my recoil rod and spring had a slight bend to it. NOTE IT DID NOT BREAK OR FAIL. So being me I replaced it. I still have OEM as back up. I would put my life on this firearm. In fact 3 weeks and 5 days ago it saved my life. This fire arm is exceptional. I would stack it up against any other fire arm out there. Plus the G2C works with sig saur p226 9mm mags. Canik 20 Rd mags MEC Gar 9 mm clips ProMag 15rd 18rd 32 Rd mags Taurus made 9mm mags. Wow that's a lot of different magazine possiblities.

      Restrike capability is also faster than tap/rack. Both work but pressing the trigger again to utilize restrike vs tap/rack; restrike capability to fire off a round when at first it won't go bang,will save someone's life,one day. Just a thought. Great gun at a great price.

  • @ungratefulpeasant8085

    I love my G2C, put about 800 rounds through it stock, and 1200 through it after the lakeline LLC stainless guide rod, recoil spring, and the stainless striker guide.
    The trigger reset is sweet by the way. I talked the gun manager at the local shop into trying it and he said the reset is as good as his sig's that he owns.

    I’ve had 2 of these and also 2 709 slim I honestly couldn’t tell you how many rounds I put through the first one and your right I wanted to get my CHL and refused to carry a hipoint and my wife and I had just bought a house and had a 1 year old so the Pt111 g2 was the best option for me at that time and I just recently was able to buy my first Glock 19.... I’m glad to see you giving Taurus a fair shot

      @glockfanboy4635 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      austin eubnks That sucks man. My best friend carries a 709 slim, and we’ve put over a thousand rounds through it with about as many failures as my Glock. I’m not saying it’s a Glock by any means, but it’s a hell of a lot better than a hipoint for almost the same price.

    • @Paladin1034
      @Paladin1034 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have a hi-point .45, thing is just terrible in every metric. It's a nightstand gun with one in the chamber now, because it'll go bang at least once. Now after that...lady luck will decide. In one range session last time I took it out, I had 11 failures in 100 rounds. FTE/FTF/double feed, you name it.
      I bought a G2 after that. In 700 rounds so far I've had no issues, and that's in four range sessions shooting various kinds of ammo, all the way down to crappy range ammo. It's my EDC, and I do trust it to get 13 shots off just as fast I can acquire the target and pull the trigger. That's another strong point - 12+1 capacity. Even my friend's VP only carries 10+1. It makes the gun a little heavier, but I'll take 13 rounds if I can, thanks.
      It would take a special gun to take the Taurus' place on my side, as I've tried out Glock, M&P, Beretta, XD, Kimber carry, etc. The only gun I would take today over my G2 as EDC is the VP9, and that gun is over 3 times the price.

    Last year I bought a new Taurus PT111 G2 because the reviews were so good. From previous experience with Taurus semi-autos I was expecting a failure right away. After 1,200 leisurely rounds through it, still no failure. I did sell it, but kind of wish I still had it. It just worked. I am looking forward to this test.

  • @abortedlord
    @abortedlord 5 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    Hey James, I work on people's shit. The only problem I have witnessed with G2Cs so far is the fact that the rear sight is held on by a single screw; which seems to have a slight tendancy to back out and fall off. Also it is basically only held by that screw so I've seen people lose their sights. So all I'd really say is get a bottle of low heat loctite.
    That said, this is relatively few. I've sold probably something like 400 or 500 of them, I think my rate of this problem coming in has been like 1% roughly. Sorry, haven't kept a perfect count. But it's definitely less than 10.
    I have NOT seen any problems with the guiderod on this one personally, but I also haven't personally shot it up either.
    If you give a shit, great, if not, great. Just figured I'd drop the heads up on what I've seen.

    I had the generation before this G2 model, and it had problems from the first mag. The recoil spring had a catastrophic failure under 50 rounds. I didn't even make it out of the complimentary 50 round box of 124gr Blazer brass the dealer through in. That being said, I sent it back to Taurus, paid 27.95 for shipping (bs), and it seems to be alright.

I hate being on ssi but I started working when I was 15 and worked up until I was 35 when I needed back surgery because of an accident and the surgeon ruined my spine. The G2C I now own fits my hands like a custom, it's one of the most naturally pointing pistols I've ever laid my hands on. I shoot it better than any other pistol I've used.
      Cabela's sells mags for these pistols, and lower than some online sellers.

      I agree on the grip fitting well. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks it fits like it was custom tailored for MY hand. Taurus really stepped up and set the bar higher with this firearm in the ~$200 range. I’m left handed, so finding a handgun off the shelf that feels good and is easy to operate is a pain. I’m officially a fanboy on this specific model.

    James, keep up the good work friend. I know everyone says the recoil springs are bad, but my wife and I have had ours for 7 months. We put 300 rounds through them every Saturday since we bought them. No issues, no problems at all. We dont shoot steel or aluminum casings but we love our g2c's. I even shot mine at a local 3 gun shoot for a charity back around Christmas. The sights are great, the grip is wonderful. Taurus out dis themselves this time. And with my we the people iwb holster, I carry it everywhere

    My local Rural King had them on Special this week at 179 with a 25 dollar rebate from Taurus. I went three different times and the last one sold just before I got in line today. I went to my local Dunham's and not only did they match it (with rebate) I got the stainless steel top. Looking forward to range time.

    I have a PT111 G2 Millennium that I’ve owned for over 2 years. My pistol is the generation previous to the G2C but there were only very minor changes in the latest version so I consider this comment pertinent. I use this gun to carry hunting, fishing and as a truck gun. My pistol has fired at least 1,000 rounds. It is the solid black version. I have added Trijicon tritium night sights purchased through Lakeline LLC and they were easy to install and are windage adjustable. I really like this pistol! It is not as accurate as some my higher priced pistols with match grade barrels but is still very accurate. My pistol likes better quality ammunition in 124 grain or higher in a fairly hot load. It does not like 115 grain bullets nearly as well. I shoot the 124 grain Speer Lawman and it always performs flawlessly. I ordered a SS replacement guide rod in the factory weight and the pistol did not perform well so I went back to the plastic factory guide rod. I paid $209 plus tax at a local gun shop. I will list Pros and Cons below.
    Pros: Price, reliability, descent accuracy for the intended purpose, it is easily concealable, well constructed for a pistol in this price range, large magazine capacity at 12 rounds in a fairly thin double stack magazine, reasonably comfortable to shoot at up to 100 rounds at the range, adjustable OEM rear sight for both windage and elevation, large trigger well (gloved hands fit with no issue), good ergonomics (with one exception I will list below), very tactile external safety both on and off, crisp trigger break with a short reset, came with 2 high quality anti-friction 12 round magazines, magazines seat and eject outstandingly, fairly low bore axis, nicely polished feed ramp
    Cons: Plastic sights and plastic guide rod from factory, finish will eventually show wear on the slide if holstered in a kydex holster (but so does the Kimpro finish on a much higher priced Kimber pistol I own), the undercut for the grip under the trigger guard is not cut high enough so it tends to be uncomfortable on the middle finger of the dominate hand when shooting 100 plus rounds for me (I don’t shoot with gloves, I live in GA and it is just too hot), fairly snappy felt recoil with the hotter rounds but you expect that with a 3.2” barrel,
    Overall, I consider this to be the best VALUE priced pistol on the market.

    the G2C was/is my first pistol, i got it after watching many reviews on youtube. i will admit freely that a huge factor was the price, $218 after tax, but everyone of the videos i watched had great feedback. i got mine, went out bought 200 rounds and headed for the closest range. the trigger has a long pull compared to the others ive shot, it took a bit to get use to and i still am. i got 90 rounds through before i had my first fail to feed, i did take the gun from the box and went right to shooting it didnt take it apart or anything. so the gun failed to feed, pulled the slid back cleared the round feed the next, fired and then failed to feed again. on my 94th round the gun completely jammed the slide would not move it was 3/4 the way open and i could not move the slide at all. i contacted taurus, they have a life time warranty on their firearms, i get the shipping label emailed to me and send it out. 2 weeks its with them, they ended up replacing basicly everything except the barrel inside the gun. since that ive had 600 rounds with zero issues from the gun, i still need some more practice. for the price for a first time budget minded person looking for a gun id recommend it even with what happen, the company took quick care of me and i had my gun back quick. i would like to upgrade the sights down the road but the ones it comes with the rear are adjustable. the texture on the grip is great its grippy but doesnt feel rough on your hand even after firing 200 rounds. take apart is very simple making cleaning a breeze.

    The G2C is a perfect gift for a new ccw also. I bought this for my brother as soon as he got his license to conceal and I’ve been there for 1.5k-2k rounds of the 2.5k that’s been through it and I’ve not seen 1 malfunction. I even tried to get it to malfunction from poor grip to simulate a limp wrist malfunction and I couldn’t get it to do wrong. It took him over a thousand rounds to hit where he was aiming but once he got his technique down he can now cut the bullseye out of targets at 15 yards with the G2C. We’ve been using only +p ammo for the last 1500 rounds and counting. He’s got a much better edc now so we’re seeing how far the G2C will go on 124gr +P Speer gold dot.

    We have seen only one break due to a recoil spring assembly failure thus far. When it failed the slide was stuck open almost fully and would not close more than 1/4 of an inch. We took out the backplate and firing pin to make sure that was not catching on the sear. Best we can tell the recoil spring broke in half preventing the slide from closing, but it had to go back to the factory for service.

I was able to buy a 1000 round case of 9mm ammo prependemic and anticipation of getting a G2C to carry but when the pandemic hit I got distracted trying to keep my business afloat and ended up waiting and luckily the G3C came out. I have 790 rounds through it and it has been flawless. I made sure yo clean it good when I first got it, lubed it really well to break it in properly and I've kept it clean and properly oiled. It runs so smooth and I couldn't have asked more from a gun especially one that cost that cost me $250.

    Rocked the original Pt111 pro for almost 4 years. Ran roughly 3000 rounds through with only 3 malfunctions. 2 were due to improperlyreloaded ammunition so cases bulges in chamber. The third was a ftf, but was due to a broken mag spring. I gifted that pistol to a friend of mine, and he hasn't had a problem yet. I currently have about 1100 rounds through my g2. No malfunctions as of yet. Only issue I had was the trigger would hang up a bit due to a bur on the trigger safety shoe. Once the bur was gone, trigger was good. And though it seems like I only shoot Taurus; ruger, beretta, sig, and Hk all grace my safe and are shot almost as frequently.

    Update from my comment on part 1
    Have over 2000 through it now. Almost 900 in the last 3 weeks without cleaning it. (Was curious if it would have the same mag feed issue but it must have been gravel/muck from dropping it in the run and shoot) Action shoot last weekend and indoor range today. ZERO problems. Am now putting almost all rounds in the 8 ring or better under 25 yards. Once you get comfortable with the reset and sight picture this is a gem.
    No unusual wear noted. Just cleaned it. Barrel needed a little extra but all good otherwise. G19 still all alone in the safe...sorry Gaston. The bull is in the holster now.

I did, at @ 400 rounds upgrade the striker guide with a stainless steel one to replace the factory red plastic one. I done this ONLY because I had heard that it helps take out the kinda gritty feel in the trigger between to end of the take up and the actual release of the striker. It absolutely makes it buttery smooth! $16.95 on lakelinellc.com I also, since it was just a little more, replaced the firing pin spring and return spring for $6.99. So, now for only @$25 plus shipping I made my already great little economy friendly EDC firearm even better! Love it! Keep the great content coming James! Love your channel brother.

    I just watched your Taurus show and liked it. I have two Taurus .45's. I got a two tone one when the first came out and later found a PT 145 PRO and do I ever love the pro. I thought the trigger pull was a bit long on the first one, like shooting a revolver but the pro just had a little slack then to fire, don't cough because it will fire. I love it for target shooting and it is dead on. I have shot 45's since I was young, now retired. I really loved them in the jungle during my three tours with Army S.F. I guess mine are Gen 1's but they didn't call them that then I also have three Taurus Judges and three other snubbed. I guess I am a Taurus guy. Glad you mentioned the holster company because I have had a problem finding holsters for the early model autos. I have a 400 lumen OLight on that Pro. Love the fact that it is rechargeable. I had a PT145 that I carried for years, I even shot IDPA with it for a while. It was my first compact handgun. I liked having 11 rounds of .45 ACP. It was also the only gun I’ve competed with that was 100% stock. A lot of that was lack of aftermarket support and the fact that I wasn’t big into modifying guns yet, because I didn’t know much about it.
    I always liked the Straight 8 sights that came on it. Not sure how many rounds I put through it, but I ran it fast in IDPA and it didn’t malfunction other than a couple of failure to fires, which could have been ammo. I got away from shooting it once I got more competitive in IDPA. I went to a Taurus PT1911 shooting CDP for a while, but to be fair I gutted the thing and replaced everything but the slide, frame and barrel. At this point of shooting competition other than GSSF I don’t have many guns that aren’t full of aftermarket parts. I run a M&P Pro 9mm now in SSP primarily. Nothing against Taurus, but they don’t have much aftermarket support...My M&P is more Apex than S&W at this point. I even went to an Apex barrel.
    The PT145 got stolen a few years back, I left it in my car in a safe cabled to the seat. Figured I’d always have a gun handy on the road that way...fuckers cut the cable and took the whole damn safe. I learned any safe in the car needs to be mounted.

    Love the video. I came upon the G2 right before the G2C came out. I had no prior history with Taurus but the price was right. I was getting my LTC so the first thing I did was take it to the range and put 400 rounds through it. I had two failures that were my fault due to bad grip and pressing the mag release. After that (and one very sore thumb) I had no further issues. Since then, I have put 3000+ rounds though it and I will tell you that it will not feed (mine) 124gr ammo very well. Tried different mags just to make sure that wasn't the issue. Also, aluminum and steel case ammo it has ejection issues with. But 115gr brass, it will run as fast and as long as I can afford to feed it. The rear sights are fully adjustable, however, the elevation works on a cam type system, so after a few rounds it will rotate back to the bottom and you loose your elevation. If I remember, TruGlow sells aftermarket sights for the G2. Anyway, that's all I got. And for those who want you to show the entire unedited video, no doubt are democrats who want the unredacted version. God bless and have a good day.Mike J.Schertz, Tx

    For what little my input is worth here: I bought my Taurus PT111 G2 in 2014 and I've put just over four-thousand rounds through it, without a single malfunction so far. It's been my concealed carry firearm literally every single day since I purchased it. The two original magazines that came with it have been loaded every single day since I brought it home, and to this day I still shoot with those two magazines and they still perform without malfunction.
    The bluing/finish (whatever the finish is) has worn off in many spots, due mostly to daily insert and removal from the holster, as well as daily draw and dry-fire practice (which I do for between 10 and 20 minutes per day).
    I did decide to put in a heavier recoil spring from Lakeline. It has greatly reduced snap / muzzle flip. However, I replaced it because I WANTED to, not because I HAD to. The original recoil spring is still perfectly intact.
    That's about all I've got to say about it thus far. I love the firearm and I'll continue carrying it until it proves to be anything other than reliable.

    I had a Millennium G2 that I bought brand new. Loved it until about 150 rounds. Mags kept falling out in middle of firing (I even repositioned my grip to make certain it wasn't operator error). Sent it back to Taurus. Got it back with horrible gunsmithing done to it (grinder marks all in the mag well like the tech let a Dremel bounce around everywhere). It didn't make it through two mags until it paper weighted. Shot it, slide cycled and locked up in the rear. Sent it back a second time and traded it in as soon as it came back (Taurus replaced the entire frame). I really loved everything (ergonomics, trigger, ease of take down) about it except the dependability. I'd love to give another a shot but was so snake bit by the first I'm leery of giving another a chance. All honesty, it was my favorite carry, beating out several higher end firearms I own, until the issues kept happening. I'll probably give a G2C a shot in the future with high hopes but really may end up sticking with my next favorite Springfield XDE.

    I have a stainless G2c and for an economically priced gun it has a lot to offer. I have run more than 1200 rounds without a single failure to load, fire, or eject which has impressed me. The one issue I had with it was that the trigger blade safety was very notchy and often sticks during the long pull. Hoping that it would "break in" and improve turned out to be a false hope and after about 500 rounds or so I was through wishing and installed a trigger that eliminated the blade safety and reduced the length of pull by almost a third. Instantly this mod made the gun feel and operate like one costing twice as much. Although I didn't have any problems with the polymer guide rod, I went ahead and replaced it with a stainless guide rod and spring assembly and just feel more confident with it in there. The stock trigger had to go, but the guide rod replacement was optional.
    Overall, this shoots very well and the excellent mags a good part of it. If you want more than 12 rounds then order an 18 round mag for a Sig 226 by Mec-Gar and it works perfectly, and you can get a sleeve for a few bucks on ebay that fits well. The Mec-Gar mags are very well made and operate flawlessly in the G2c including holding the slide open after the last shot. I'm real interested in finding out how well those G2c's will hold up for 10,000 rounds.

    Most of the recoil spring issues I would see reported in the taurusarmed forum was from the g2c’s predecessor the pt111 g2. The coils would would overlap each other and lock up the gun. It was normally only after some extended use (1-2k rounds). This may have been corrected when they came out with the g2c.

    I NEVER heard of you before today James Yeager; but I heard you today loud and clear. You sound as though you know what you're talking about; and I'll trust that until you ever give me a reason not to. Thanks for the info; great video.

    The reason I respect James's opinion is he doesent just give first impression videos or ridiculous torture tests. He gives realistic reviews of things that were tested to the realistic extremes
