The gritty frets are caused by humidity, this happens to a lot of guitars made in Asia, the ones it doesn't happen to are the guitars that have plenty of silica gel packs installed on the fretboard.
My Eastman SB59 came with lots of silica gel packs and the frets were not gritty.

What happened to your Kauffman teles? They looked and sounded amazing.

Having to polish up the frets is a fair compromise as here in the UK this guitar 🎸 is only £139 so yeah for literally 2 days wages it's worth it 👍

How did you polish up the frets and with what ? What grade paper did you use on the back of the neck ? Great vid

It is. Mine needed a little work neatening up the cuts (although I string 52-10's so that's probably why!) I've owned one of these for three years now. They're good guitars...frets were okay I've not had to do anything with them on mine...did need a set up but to be expected coming in the mail. I 0000 wire wooled the back of the neck (personal preference) and I've put copper shielding tape in the cavity. I was picking up AM radio! Other than that it's stock and I enjoy playing it for some psychedelic rock stuff. Gets a really nice fuzz tone out of it too! 2 points worth mentioning ....the neck is a baseball bat!! It's a very heavy guitar!

Could you mention which particular Kluson tuners you used? There are a lot of different options on their website... thanks!

Sure! They're Kluson MLK6LN Lockheads. 45 degree screw angle, 6 in line.

Hi JJ! Just a question: Are the tuners the stock or you have replaced them for vintage style, 'cause on the website of Thomann are not slotted?

Needing to polish the frets in cheap guitars is absolutely fair and what I expect.
