OTH’s probably the first teen drama where all of the main characters had serious character development. There’s usually always one or two characters that don’t change because they didn’t need a lot or development to begin with but each of the characters had flaws
Idk why ppl are saying lucas bc he only ever sucked in the romance department and that's bc he runs from his feelings and throws himself into wrong relationships... which is unfortunste bc ppl got hurt but he obviously learned not to do that when he finally accepted the person in his heart and married her. Other than that he was actually a pretty chill guy who was always a great friend and the first person who reached out whenever a character needed help. Ppl who criticize him bc he didn't do a 180 like Nathan really don't understand that he's prolly one of the most realistic character in oth along with peyton. One reason I loved this show was because of Lucas and Haley’s friendship, one of the most realistic ever on TV. Most other shows would have had them be a couple at some point, but their friendship stayed pure and innocent thought the entire series.
They were actually supposed to be romantic and follow Dawson and Joey but joy and Chad had no chemistry so they decided hailey would go with Nathan and change him

One Tree Hill was so much different than every other show I’ve watched. After 9 seasons, I fell in love with the characters and felt like they were like my family. I cried so hard during the ENTIRE last episode. After it was over I felt like a part of me was gone. I know that sounds dramatic because it’s only a tv show, but that’s how good the show was and what an impact it had on me.
and thats why, every now and then, i start to watch it all over again..it makes my heart warm and gives me some peace, cant really explain it.. cant count exactly how many times i have watched oth.. that serie is the best for me, i love everything about it :)
There’s more to it than just the romance and “hot” boys talking about feelings and stuff, they shaped their characters strongly, you were connected to the stories constantly and always at the edge of what will happen to them, one of the best teen drama shows ever created.
The great thing about One Tree Hill is that it doesn't NEED complicated plots and twists every episode to be engaging. It has great characters that feel REAL and you want to know what happens with their lives. After four seasons the show does a 5 year time skip (avoiding the complicated college years that usually kill most teen shows) and you go back to their lives as adults, the struggles of parenthood and career life, etc. OTH also has a couple of unique things not many shows have, including exploring the darkest parts of a person and the things they're capable of doing (Dan), having a genuine friendship between a straight male and a straight female (Lucas and Haley), and having a couple last for the entirety of the series instead of making every character date each other like Gossip Girl (Nathan and Haley). So to answer the question of this video (why did everyone like OTH so much?): because it was a really good show. Good writing, good production, and characters and plots that made sense.

yeah I tell people get past the first 4 episodes and then decide if you must watch it in order. I started season 3 episode 3 because the pilot was boring me. Best decision ever. I then skipped to season 4 episode 14/15 and boy did that hook me watching the sex tape get out and cause all the drama then peyton getting kidnapped. A good show in my opinion means anyone can start watching at any episode and still feel drawn into the story and characters. I will not end up watching a show if I jump in and get bored especially if it is season 3 (supposed to be a really good season if the writers are doing something right)
I was addicted to one tree hill! The drama was great and the characters really went through a lot! And it made me root for different characters that I didn’t expect I would.
One Tree Hill had the perfect mix of teen drama, romance, comedy and tragedy! The characters and plot have stayed with me throughout and i'm truly grateful to the writers lol and lets not forget about that intro! It always drowns me in nostalgia

Agreed! They introduced me to a lot of music I feel like I’d never hear in a show focused on high schoolers. I liked that they didn’t use really popular music at the time in the show like that I definitely think it would’ve aged the show more. I can still watch it today and it feels modern.
I love music and I write stories and scripts to songs because of this show. It is beautifully done. Mark knew what he was doing when making music such a big part of the show
You have got to be kidding? I HATED the music paired with the scenes. The music was SO LOUD it overtook what the whole scene was about. All I could hear was the music. I literally stopped watching it at season 7 episode two just yesterday. I binge watched it and it to me was the ABSOLUTE worst tv show to ever be put on the WB and CW. All this show was a night-time teenage soap opera. It was so predictable it was a freaking joke! Sorry people I just don't get the love for this show once the two main characters left the show. I heard that Chad left because they wouldn't raise his salary as he wanted and Hilarie left because of the sexual harassment that she had to endure from Mark Schwann every day. He harassed basically every woman on the show. The cast said that the set was SO TOXIC that it was unbearable to have to deal with day in and day out. The man was constantly groping the women on set and off. Hilarie HATED that guy with a passion and wished she had never even done the show, to begin with. She suffered PTSD long after leaving because of bad Mark harassed her. She said that he would even grope her in front of his very own wife and not even care that she was there to witness it? The show even offered Hilarie a big bonus to stay for the next season but she couldn't take one more day of having to deal with that HUGE douchebag. Mark also was the screenwriter for The Royals as well. He harassed those women too and once one made a complaint both shows had women coming out of the woodwork telling their stories of how AWFUL this man was to all that had to endure his crap. The show was "okay" up until the end of the story when it was revealed Dan Scott had murdered his brother. After that, it went downhill. I ended up wishing that I had never wasted all my time on such crap tv. All it was about was gratuitous sex and exploiting women. I guess there are a lot of people in this world like Mark Schwann I guess? Sad.

I was and still is addicted to One Tree Hill. It is a good teenage drama. You can't judge a series by the plot episode. You need to watch at least till the tenth episode. It is really good. My sisters and I have a lot of inside jokes and laught till we had tears watching the series.

I liked OTH because of Nathan and Haley's relationship, Brooke's personality development, and its simplicity. Nothing much going on, but still a lot to learn.
I think OTH was one of the best shows to ever exist (in my opinion) because the way the characters were portrayed was amazing. You can take a look at Nathan’s character, he went from a bad boy to a good husband/Father. Each and every character has taught us something or the other. Basically it portrayed the lives of the ordinary humans. Growth played a major role in it.
I love how OTH started all normal and like really nothing happened but it ended up with (SPOILER ALERT) psychopathic killer nannys, NBA players getting kidnapped by european gangsters, amnesiac dads forgetting their kid for 7 years or whatever, stalker ex wife doppelgangers, a stalker brother rapist, school shootings, in fact just a lot of shootings... honestly I can't even carry on, this show was just non stop crazy but it was legitimately brilliant. Honestly you should keep watching.
And the fact that like half of the main characters became somewhat famous in later seasons despite all being from the same small town lmao Edit: plus remember when Pete fucking Wentz appeared as himself as Peytons love interest for a few episodes? hahaha oh my god

Pilots are 9/10 bad and if they aren't then the show is probably going to get worse. A pilot is supposed to be experimental- no one knows what they are doing- heck the first whole season is supposed to set up characters, dynamics, and story. Season 2 usually changes things up slightly before things settle and get really good in season 3. One Tree Hill was AMAZING season 3/4.

I strongly encourage you to watch more than just the first episode. It’s a really great show, the actors also grew into the roles really well. There definitely is a “story” through the series too, give it a shot!

I'm a guy, I watched more than a 100 different shows and OTH is one of my favorite shows ever! It's an emotional show and one of the few shows that make me cry. And my favorite episode of all time is from OTH - the episode about the school shooting. And the cast is great at delivering real emotions through the screen. I'd sometimes forget this is a tv show while watching it - that's how realistic it was.

There 's a lot of action later on. Season one is good because you get to know and love each character. Season two is funny and mostly a bout relationships (love and family). My favorite seasons are the third and the fourth.
I still love OTH. I purchased the entire series on Amazon Prime a few years ago after it was dropped from Netflix. Nathan ended up being my favorite character.

A good show in my opinion means anyone can start watching at any episode and still feel drawn into the story and characters. I will not end up watching a show if I jump in and get bored especially if it is season 3 (supposed to be a really good season if the writers are doing something right)

Agreed! They introduced me to a lot of music I feel like I’d never hear in a show focused on high schoolers. I liked that they didn’t use really popular music at the time in the show like that I definitely think it would’ve aged the show more. I can still watch it today and it feels modern.

You have got to be kidding? I HATED the music paired with the scenes. The music was SO LOUD it overtook what the whole scene was about. All I could hear was the music. I literally stopped watching it at season 7 episode two just yesterday. I binge watched it and it to me was the ABSOLUTE worst tv show to ever be put on the WB and CW. All this show was a night-time teenage soap opera. It was so predictable it was a freaking joke! Sorry people I just don't get the love for this show once the two main characters left the show. I heard that Chad left because they wouldn't raise his salary as he wanted and Hilarie left because of the sexual harassment that she had to endure from Mark Schwann every day. He harassed basically every woman on the show. The cast said that the set was SO TOXIC that it was unbearable to have to deal with day in and day out. The man was constantly groping the women on set and off. Hilarie HATED that guy with a passion and wished she had never even done the show, to begin with. She suffered PTSD long after leaving because of bad Mark harassed her. She said that he would even grope her in front of his very own wife and not even care that she was there to witness it? The show even offered Hilarie a big bonus to stay for the next season but she couldn't take one more day of having to deal with that HUGE douchebag. Mark also was the screenwriter for The Royals as well. He harassed those women too and once one made a complaint both shows had women coming out of the woodwork telling their stories of how AWFUL this man was to all that had to endure his crap. The show was "okay" up until the end of the story when it was revealed Dan Scott had murdered his brother. After that, it went downhill. I ended up wishing that I had never wasted all my time on such crap tv. All it was about was gratuitous sex and exploiting women. I guess there are a lot of people in this world like Mark Schwann I guess? Sad.

I was and still is addicted to One Tree Hill. It is a good teenage drama. You can't judge a series by the plot episode. You need to watch at least till the tenth episode. It is really good. My sisters and I have a lot of inside jokes and laught till we had tears watching the series.
One Tree Hill was my childhood, and it still kind of holds up for me,... like sure it is cringy, but for me it is still less cringy than the new shows are

I think OTH was one of the best shows to ever exist (in my opinion) because the way the characters were portrayed was amazing. You can take a look at Nathan’s character, he went from a bad boy to a good husband/Father. Each and every character has taught us something or the other. Basically it portrayed the lives of the ordinary humans. Growth played a major role in it.
I love how OTH started all normal and like really nothing happened but it ended up with (SPOILER ALERT) psychopathic killer nannys, NBA players getting kidnapped by european gangsters, amnesiac dads forgetting their kid for 7 years or whatever, stalker ex wife doppelgangers, a stalker brother rapist, school shootings, in fact just a lot of shootings... honestly I can't even carry on, this show was just non stop crazy but it was legitimately brilliant.
Honestly you should keep watching.

Pilots are 9/10 bad and if they aren't then the show is probably going to get worse. A pilot is supposed to be experimental- no one knows what they are doing- heck the first whole season is supposed to set up characters, dynamics, and story. Season 2 usually changes things up slightly before things settle and get really good in season 3. One Tree Hill was AMAZING season 3/4.

I'm a guy, I watched more than a 100 different shows and OTH is one of my favorite shows ever! It's an emotional show and one of the few shows that make me cry. And my favorite episode of all time is from OTH - the episode about the school shooting. And the cast is great at delivering real emotions through the screen. I'd sometimes forget this is a tv show while watching it - that's how realistic it was.

The first 2 seasons were great season 2 was not as good as season 1 but season 3 is the best season in the series. Then season 4 and 5 are great. Season 6 is good then season 7 8 and 9 we're ok.

There 's a lot of action later on. Season one is good because you get to know and love each character. Season two is funny and mostly a bout relationships (love and family). My favorite seasons are the third and the fourth.
