I'm 22 and highschool was TORTURE for me and look at me now! I'm getting my life together, I'm having a kid, I'm studying to be a marine biologist and zoologist and I'm still antisocial but I have other people who will be antisocial with me. It's like completely an oxymoron HOWEVER my friend group only likes people in my friend group because were all the same, quiet and stand offish. Everyone thinks were dicks it works out GREAT :)
And I meant other kids tortured me in highschool... I tried to be invisible and they found me because my town is small af... I live in Casper, Wyoming... Yeah, small af

I miss that about the old shows. There is just so much going on now on the new shows.
OTH’s probably the first teen drama where all of the main characters had serious character development. There’s usually always one or two characters that don’t change because they didn’t need a lot or development to begin with but each of the characters had flaws
I do think Rachel's character development could have been better

Idk why ppl are saying lucas bc he only ever sucked in the romance department and that's bc he runs from his feelings and throws himself into wrong relationships... which is unfortunste bc ppl got hurt but he obviously learned not to do that when he finally accepted the person in his heart and married her. Other than that he was actually a pretty chill guy who was always a great friend and the first person who reached out whenever a character needed help. Ppl who criticize him bc he didn't do a 180 like Nathan really don't understand that he's prolly one of the most realistic character in oth along with peyton. Their growth is subtle bc they were good ppl to begin with they're just flawed like any human being and made few mistakes along the way just bc their change wasn't dramatic doesn't mean they didn't have a character development.

One reason I loved this show was because of Lucas and Haley’s friendship, one of the most realistic ever on TV. Most other shows would have had them be a couple at some point, but their friendship stayed pure and innocent thought the entire series.

One Tree Hill was so much different than every other show I’ve watched. After 9 seasons, I fell in love with the characters and felt like they were like my family. I cried so hard during the ENTIRE last episode. After it was over I felt like a part of me was gone. I know that sounds dramatic because it’s only a tv show, but that’s how good the show was and what an impact it had on me.
and thats why, every now and then, i start to watch it all over again..it makes my heart warm and gives me some peace, cant really explain it..
cant count exactly how many times i have watched oth.. that serie is the best for me, i love everything about it :)
with oth you really have to scratch under the surface a little to see how beautiful it is..its far, far from some shallow teen drama :)

the rule of the series was that whomever spent the most time with haley developed into a better person as a result she reformed nathan and brookes personalities undoing much of the damage done by their parents

Yeah, the military school in North Carolina 😂 I always liked that little nod in GG. Just like how Dave went to college in California (he went to The OC).
I so wanted Tristan and Rory together. I did not want him to leave, but he deserved his own show.
There’s more to it than just the romance and “hot” boys talking about feelings and stuff, they shaped their characters strongly, you were connected to the stories constantly and always at the edge of what will happen to them, one of the best teen drama shows ever created.

Bc there’s no vampires witches demons wolves sirens, a town with a secret deadly game etc. Yes there’s a death but we know who did it and everyone finds out who did it after a season not 7 seasons w a stupid ending and always different killers *cough cough* PLL.
One tree hill and Dawson’s creek was the closet to being “real” and “relatable” compared to any other shows. I don’t even know if they make high school shows like this anymore.

I was and still is addicted to One Tree Hill. It is a good teenage drama. You can't judge a series by the plot episode. You need to watch at least till the tenth episode. It is really good. My sisters and I have a lot of inside jokes and laught till we had tears watching the series.

I think OTH was one of the best shows to ever exist (in my opinion) because the way the characters were portrayed was amazing. You can take a look at Nathan’s character, he went from a bad boy to a good husband/Father. Each and every character has taught us something or the other. Basically it portrayed the lives of the ordinary humans. Growth played a major role in it.
RIP KEITH ....never forget, NEVER!
The great thing about One Tree Hill is that it doesn't NEED complicated plots and twists every episode to be engaging. It has great characters that feel REAL and you want to know what happens with their lives. After four seasons the show does a 5 year time skip (avoiding the complicated college years that usually kill most teen shows) and you go back to their lives as adults, the struggles of parenthood and career life, etc.
OTH also has a couple of unique things not many shows have, including exploring the darkest parts of a person and the things they're capable of doing (Dan), having a genuine friendship between a straight male and a straight female (Lucas and Haley), and having a couple last for the entirety of the series instead of making every character date each other like Gossip Girl (Nathan and Haley).
So to answer the question of this video (why did everyone like OTH so much?): because it was a really good show. Good writing, good production, and characters and plots that made sense.

one tree hill was actually kinda good tho...... a shit ton of drama but the characters do stay with you and it had some really great moments regarding the writing.
yeah I tell people get past the first 4 episodes and then decide if you must watch it in order. I started season 3 episode 3 because the pilot was boring me. Best decision ever. I then skipped to season 4 episode 14/15 and boy did that hook me watching the sex tape get out and cause all the drama then peyton getting kidnapped. A good show in my opinion means anyone can start watching at any episode and still feel drawn into the story and characters. I will not end up watching a show if I jump in and get bored especially if it is season 3 (supposed to be a really good season if the writers are doing something right)

One tree hill was amazing. It had the best character developments and the most realistic reactions to stuff like body image, grief, pregnancy, addiction ect. Looking back this show was really bold taking these topics on tv and handling them so well.

The first time watching one tree hill on Netflix was a recommended yes. I felt like I was reliving someone's memories of childhood, tv classic vibes, PlayStation, eye-catching good storylines, characters, hot mess, and emotional impacts, Tbh, this show has the best soundtrack, underrated series of all time, I have to say.

Agreed! They introduced me to a lot of music I feel like I’d never hear in a show focused on high schoolers. I liked that they didn’t use really popular music at the time in the show like that I definitely think it would’ve aged the show more. I can still watch it today and it feels modern.
I love music and I write stories and scripts to songs because of this show. It is beautifully done. Mark knew what he was doing when making music such a big part of the show
You have got to be kidding? I HATED the music paired with the scenes. The music was SO LOUD it overtook what the whole scene was about. All I could hear was the music. I literally stopped watching it at season 7 episode two just yesterday. I binge watched it and it to me was the ABSOLUTE worst tv show to ever be put on the WB and CW. All this show was a night-time teenage soap opera. It was so predictable it was a freaking joke! Sorry people I just don't get the love for this show once the two main characters left the show. I heard that Chad left because they wouldn't raise his salary as he wanted and Hilarie left because of the sexual harassment that she had to endure from Mark Schwann every day. He harassed basically every woman on the show. The cast said that the set was SO TOXIC that it was unbearable to have to deal with day in and day out. The man was constantly groping the women on set and off. Hilarie HATED that guy with a passion and wished she had never even done the show, to begin with. She suffered PTSD long after leaving because of bad Mark harassed her. She said that he would even grope her in front of his very own wife and not even care that she was there to witness it? The show even offered Hilarie a big bonus to stay for the next season but she couldn't take one more day of having to deal with that HUGE douchebag. Mark also was the screenwriter for The Royals as well. He harassed those women too and once one made a complaint both shows had women coming out of the woodwork telling their stories of how AWFUL this man was to all that had to endure his crap. The show was "okay" up until the end of the story when it was revealed Dan Scott had murdered his brother. After that, it went downhill. I ended up wishing that I had never wasted all my time on such crap tv. All it was about was gratuitous sex and exploiting women. I guess there are a lot of people in this world like Mark Schwann I guess? Sad.

I still love OTH. I purchased the entire series on Amazon Prime a few years ago after it was dropped from Netflix. Nathan ended up being my favorite character.

One Tree Hill had the perfect mix of teen drama, romance, comedy and tragedy! The characters and plot have stayed with me throughout and i'm truly grateful to the writers lol and lets not forget about that intro! It always drowns me in nostalgia

@@florianstumpf4349 i don't think this show was too bad as the eldest actor i think was like...22? playing 16/17. the only one who was actually a teenager was james lafferty who was 18 in season 1. skipping college helped though as it meant they were playing closer to their real ages.

Tbh all my fave Tv shows are from the 90s and 2000s and I wasn’t even old enough to watch them when they came out originally. For some reason these older shows find a way for you to relate to the characters in a way where you stay loyal to watching the entire series. I think these days we r so saturated with Tv shows on streaming services that the shows just wash over you and they don’t really have a lasting impact like the older shows did.

I love how OTH started all normal and like really nothing happened but it ended up with (SPOILER ALERT) psychopathic killer nannys, NBA players getting kidnapped by european gangsters, amnesiac dads forgetting their kid for 7 years or whatever, stalker ex wife doppelgangers, a stalker brother rapist, school shootings, in fact just a lot of shootings... honestly I can't even carry on, this show was just non stop crazy but it was legitimately brilliant.
Honestly you should keep watching.
TLI1817 those storylines were still way more believable than what is on Riverdale at the moment

1. Brooke had the greatest character arc.
At first she was dumb, stereotypical mean girl. And when she began dating Lucas she became incredibly self-aware, kind and smart. Most importantly, she was the best aunt/mom, friend and girlfriend ever. Brooke went from being a self-obsessed cheerleader to a caring, loving person.
2. Her smile is infectious. I don't know what else to say about this one. Brooke's smile lit up the room. It broke my heart every time she was sad, because her smile was everything.
3. Literally everyone fell in love with her. And how could you not?
Lucas. Peyton. Karen. Mouth. Haley. Chase. Owen. Jamie. Julian. Need I go on? While she may not have started out as the most likeable character, she weaseled her way into everyone's heart.
4. She has a heart of gold. She consistently put others above herself. She gave Peyton and Lucas her blessing (after they totally did not deserve it). Brooke was there for everyone through everything, even when she was going through the struggles of her own life. Nobody deserved Brooke Davis.
5. She sacrificed so much and finally got her happy ending.
Brooke Davis is the best fictional character to ever exist because she was a ray of sunshine even in the dark times. I've never looked up to someone on TV quite like her.

@@layalal-kadri9370 Can I just say that I absolutely couldn't agree with you more. Especially with the point number 4. She was just always there for everyone, keeping everyone's problems above hers. She might have come across as a typical mean girl at first but she became so much more. She had to develop her friendships and relationships from scratch. It was heartbreaking to see all the time her love was not returned and Lucas going back to Peyton when Brooke was loyal and in love. We saw her fall apart so many times but she picked up the pieces alone and man was I happy to see her get the love she deserved at the end. It was about time she would be someone's first priority for life and not to mention she was a total boss when it came to her career. She was and always will be the reason I'd go back to watching oth.
