The song's not actually in reference to the C-Word. Rather it was done in association with the mobile game Arknights, a tower defense game. In the game, there are people who are infected by something referred to as Oripathy. The game is actually extremely deep in terms of characters and story with multiple story based events occurring over the year.
This song wasn't written for Arknights. It was initially demo'd for their third album Divisions. Arknights reached out to them for a song and so they revived Infected for the collaboration.
Thank you so much for doing this video!!! I was so excited when they came out with this and my immediate second thought was this video coming out. I love your reactions to Starset, they're my favorite band I can't wait to see them for the first time
Been waiting for this song for half a year now. Ever since it got teased for Arknights 1.5 year special. Song's an absolute banger for me even though it does seem pretty cookie cutter. But for a song made for a game they did pretty damn well.
I've been WAITING for you to put our a react!!! Just listened to his song yesterday, and I've been absolutely ECSTATIC about it. I'm excited to hear this, listening to you about a minute and a half in. But I'M SO STOKED TO HEAR YOU, and I'm not ashamed to sound crazy. I'm proud of you, CZYK!!!🔥💪
I think the repetitive “Infected” has its own merit. To me, those repetitive words are like the chanting to its own madness, while the chorus music tries to pick up the pent up energy in oneself. It’s highly addictive when you’re being angry and the chorus hits just the right spot (as the lyrics suggest: being powerless in front of the incurable world and everything that a person can have are pure hatred and rage, which, funny enough, are very contagious in right circumstances).
I heard Infected was supposed to be put into Divisions but was cut for not fitting the theme, so they used it for a game called Arknights, and I heard in the context of the game it fits very well. Also got a song suggestion: Pendulum - Crush (Devin Townsend Remix) is a great version of a already fantastic song.
The song was going to be on DIVISIONS but they choose it for make an "Game OST" It isnt bad. I was hoping for an scream because Dustin always did that in the songs. For example Monster.
Starset is extremely detail oriented, and I'm very happy to see that they still are. The song is super great, but I agree with you on your points here. Dustin's voice was a little bit lost in the mix, and the song is a little bit cookie cutter, it could've used some spicing up. There's a lot of awesome work in there, and the song is absolutely awesome. Having listened to it probably close to seventy times since it came out (I do Starset tutorials, so I have to listen to it a lot, lol), I can definitely say it's grown on me quite a bit.
FOLLOWUP: YES, THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL PREVAILS. I’ve been doing a dive into the BPM of the song, and the verses are 107 BPM, and the choruses and bridge are 108 BPM. A very subtle difference that gives a very slight increase in intensity when the song transitions out of the verses. Such a smart use of tempo.
This one kinda reminds me of Trials in Divisions General it’s a little under my expectation cuz I was looking forward to something lil heavier but it’s still a very good song. I’ll give it a 7.5 out of 10 after few times listening, but I’m pretty sure this score grows as time passes🔥Starset’s songs always gets better and better when you listen to it more and more.
Great to see starset put out new music I look forward to hearing a new album hope it's heavy af just like divisions this song was great but I expected it to be a head banger
@@axelhdz3672Considérate afortunado de conocer a esta banda desde Transmissions. A mi todas sus canciones me parecen majestuosas, excepto un par de Divisons.
If you haven't already, don't forget to react to the studio cover of Kashmir by Led Zeppelin that they did. It's an Amazon Music exclusive, but you can find it on TH-cam. It's my favorite song they've done since anything on Vessels.
Yes, I am so glad, that my favorite band released a new song! 😍 I really like it and the game Arknights as well, "Infected" fits the game perfectly! And Dustins vocals are 🔥 as always! Thanks Kyle for the reaction! Greetings from lockdowned Germany! 🤗
@@flamehaze59 ik about Divisions. I was aware of its release. This song isn't part of the Divisions album, which is why I asked if Starset released a new album
I know it isn't about the pandemic and was made for a game (or used for it, whatever) but it still fits SO WELL with the current situation. the first time I listened to it I was kinda underwhelmed too tbh, but now I'm listening to it on repeat lol. Idk, even without screaming I feel like there is a lot of anger in that song and I relate so much xD
Fun fact: This song was originally slated for the DIVISIONS album, but got cut because it didn't fit the 'feel' of the album. Honestly, I suspect they just released this song as something to tide us all over until the next album, hopefully released Q3 or Q4 2021 or beginning 2022, Album titled something like "PASSAGE" or "PROGRESS"
Have to agree, overwhelming sounds different. Like their Kashmir Cover that finally got an official audio release two weeks ago for example. Those screams are heavy
metal fans love AuRoRa. i suggest It Happened Quiet at Nidarosdomen, but do the tiktok trend song Runaway if wanted. but do it at the Nobel Peace Prize. all reactors need to hear her. good stuff!
It isn't their best song, but it isn't bad. Definitely a C+ song. Considering it was made for a game, there probably wasn't as much passion or desire to experiment put into it. Either that, or they were given guidelines to follow for the song. Can't win them all. I'll still jam to this one, though :). Great breakdown.
It just kinda feels repetitive. Melody lines are just awesome though. It just doesn't feels as creative as Dustin usually is. I honestly wish they did a little solo or something. Also the chorus felt a little too mainstream. Although, they did this for Arknights, and I don't think this is actually supposed to be in a new album. We'll see.
Probably one of the reasons why they chose to keep it off divisions. It’s a catchy electronic rock song, but serves a video game OST better than being on divisions which was nothing but heat

Dustin is a profit from the future confirmed😳😳😳
This song isn't a single for an album as of right now, it is part of division that got cut then was released for the ArkKnights game
