Thank you Elise. Spent a lot of time studying this. Wow what a difference it makes to raise confidence and roll into your presentation. You make really interesting videos.

Some really useful tips. The first few times I played live I kept forgetting to thank the audience, even though I'd rehearsed it. Will definitely have to try some of these ideas out next time I play live. I like the idea of asking them questions, could have some fun with that.
I remember seeing Tim Vine live and when he did a few songs he said "This next one's called subtraction, take it away!" I thought that was funny, so I've tried to come up with some similar lines to throw in between songs like "This next song is called procrastination... actually no, I’ll play that one later."
I saw someone playing live once and they were talking while they were tuning their guitar, saying things like "I swear this was in tune when I bought it" which I thought was clever, because that could be an awkward moment.

If it's your first open mike and your feeling pretty nervous about the whole thing don't talk just play your songs do your best and try to enjoy the night as well.

Another tip. Make sure you don’t have too much delay or reverb on your vocal mic. If you do, it won’t matter what you say, because no one will be able to understand a word you are saying.

Reminds me of a line, can't remember who said it... "I'd like to play some of [name]'s songs, but they haven't played any of mine, so I won't bother."
