- Shane's race truck (Nissan Hardbody ka24e with turbo and I/C). Just put on race slicks and wanted to test out the grip and shake down the vehicle.

A hardbody was my first vehicle. I've always wanted to get another one and do something cool with like drag poo r track truck. Awesome to see you guys doing this.

Ok sorry about not having more info, I don't really know a lot about the truck...and I now live 4 hours away from him so I don't go over there often. But I called him as soon as I read your comment and got a little more info. The turbo is a Holset HY35 which came factory on the old Cummins 6BT engines in Dodge Rams. He modified his stock exhaust manifold by cutting the outlet off and welding a flange for the turbo. The transmission is the stock one. He had some issues with the original one, so me and him swapped it out with a rebuilt one a couple years ago and it has been holding up well. The truck does not get driven often, but he had it at a track last month.
He estimates around 300-350hp at the engine, and with the truck being so light (it is pretty stripped out) it hits hard. Hope that answers some of your questions, let me know if you have any more.

Stock engine, has forged crank, pistons, and rods. Stock pistons can only handle 10psi on a good tune. He is running 18psi now.
Fuel system: Mazda RX-7 460cc injectors, Walbro 255 fuel pump.
Ignition System: Stock

Sounds like you need to upgrade your fuel system now, (not getting enough fuel) causing it to sputter or could use a tune up.

Yes it's the ka24e. Very fun and quick truck! He did all of the fab work himself, including welding a turbo flange to the exhaust manifold.

i hear the shifting noise like this all the time and im young but if i ever build a vehicle i would LOVE this sound with whatever part it is to be honest

How many psi can I get away with without tune ?
Mine is running 7psi on T25 with no tune and pickup injectors
@@thediddly Hello there. I also want to install a turbo for ka24e hardboy. I have a newly built engine with stock parts. I will use stock ecu and stock ignition system. I am thinking of using 5psi, is it safe? Is your turbo ka24e still working
@@ufukcapraz7549 5-7 psi is most you want to use. Injectors are maxed out at around that point. No problem with a Air Flow Meter at that pressure it seems.
Also best to use something like a t25, reason is cost, practicality and availability. Also the turbo is designed for that range of pressure. That t25 i used was from sr20det, so on KA24E, the response was beautiful as engine in bigger. Full boost by 2500rpm!

I got a lot actually I have a 96 d21 that I'm getting ready to turbo. O have a stock ka24e did he build the enegie or is some parts forged stock. What kind of turbo and manifold is he running and does he have a standalone ecu or piggybacks

The clutch has a very short throw so it is sometimes difficult to get it in gear

Sounds like you're running stock clutch, between the short clutch throw and the long shifts it can be a bitch to shift fast. Of course all these jackasses in the comments will call you a bad driver without even having experienced one of these trucks.
Yes your statements are accurate, it's harder to get it into gear than most vehicles (plus the clutch is super sensitive). I'm actually the passenger in the video, but my friend who is driving is a very good driver and has owned that truck for over 10 years. Thanks for the feedback!
