I danced with RD Burman at Kolkata in 1982 when he came with Asha-ji & Kishore-ji and both these stalwarts sang this song at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. I feel now that I was so fortunate.
You are lucky to dance with them...😭😭
Lucky
Feeling lost out but I wasn't even then. God bless
Oh wow
You are very lucky and fortunate indeed !
What a masterpiece ever Composed by Pancham Da during those day's where there were limitations to technology and Sound Engineering No Auto Tunes and Machines to improve the Music & Singing Flaws, a genius like RD Burman can only create this. This song with Singer Kishore Kumar voice will be even remembered after 1000 years ..
Bhai, Pancham da was a musical miracle. He was supremo

There is hardly any bass guiter dominance in this particular song. The counter melody is done by Asha B and KK themselves in the Mukhda in special and some parts of the antara. If you want to find bass guiter in RD compositions, check out - Aaj ki raat (Jagir), Dheere Dheere Jaane jana (Agar tum na hote), Aisa sama na hota (Zameen Asman), Pyar jab na diya (Sitamgar) etc
Think it was bhanu gupta ji
I hope an Indian rock or metal band do a cover of this song 🤟🏽
Now, this is what I call singing. Range is no limitation for Kishore Da. He can reach up to no-one-can-imagine levels. Yo, all you singers out there, you may be famous, but then there is Kishore Da and there are you all, combined.

Let's say old song Will be Number 1..
I prefer listening to old songs more
Old musicians gave more emphasis on voice modulation and less on music..

No doubt
Only Asha Bhonsle could pull her voice so low and then in the very next moment take it to the highest pitch. That was sheer power. 👏🏼🙏🏼
I'm in love with that voice since 75' ! And i was just a kid then 😅

Absolutely. Kishore Kumar ji and Mohammad Rafi Sahab also
I find many listeners praised quite justifiably about Kishore & Asha’s versatility & very true . But let’s consider for a moment about the composition & its intricate beautiful Orchestrations which has made this song ever green & I feel in another 30 to 40 yrs this’ll remain equally popular . I’m 74 now , I may not be there but this song would be played everywhere. Composition is the birthplace of any best song & its planned new creative way of Orchestration is very vital. RDBurman is main source who always was after creating a new but very attractive song to us as an invaluable gift & Kishore +Asha has given shape in this song with their fullest melody . They will remain in our heart & soul ever after. Thanks.
Its shall be Popular for another 1000 years
You’re 100% correct . RDB is the only Hindi Film composer who has invented some new musical Instruments, one was used this percussion “ Pedal Drum” in this Film- Saamne Yeh Kaun Anaya” follow that dragging sound . I’ve seen this Instrument upon Kalamandir Hall, Kolkata.played by RD’s own team of people. What a great composer never born & I’m very2 lucky to be there to enjoy such rich musical performance.
Kishore Kumar was once in a lifetime talent...agreed! The man could do it all...let's also appreciate RD Burman, a man way way ahead of his time, a true genius!!!
All great songs of 70s & 80s are due to combination of KK & RDB.....no doubt....

No words for Shri Kishore Kumar Ji, he is divine, beating him in singing is as impossible as bringing him back. This voice suits each and every genre of singing except classical but the he has sung some semi classical songs also that too with his brilliance, he is not just legend but IMMORTAL too. Asha Bhonsle Ji once said in her interview that Kishore Kumar Ji is her singing idol after her father. Till his last breath he was full of work. No words no words no words
The only hindi song i can listen to 30 or more times in a row . I was 6 years old in 75' when i got hypnotised by Asha Boshle's voice and Jaya's beauty on the record sleeve , that part still send shivers down my spine .
Every now an then i come to take my 1 hour dose of "jaane jaan" !!!
Same here! I am a Sri Lankan but RD Burman is and will always be my favourite music composer. This song is to me a landmark in Bollywood music history. The use of the bass guitar was without peer and, If I'm correct, led to Ramesh Iyer leave his cooperate job and join RD Burman's team as a guitarist simply after listening to the bass guitar in this song and thinking "right, this is the guy that I wanna join"! First I heard this song in early 2000 when I saw Asha Bhosle's live in concert show where she sang this song with Babul Supriyo, and I was gobsmacked thinking surely this song must have created in the late 90's as it sounded too modern to me even at that time. And it still does! The freshness has never waned even an atom! Unbelievable creation!!
I'm singing today at a programme remembering Kishor ji with a veteran singer ..it's an honour to sing this magical song
From high pitch to low pitch within a fraction of a second. Amazing, wonderful.. This can be CREATED by only one. Our beloved untrained GENIUS KISHOREDA only. There are many more unbelievable reasons for us to get pulled towards this DIVINE MAGNET. The above mentioned reason is one among thousands.
How did he sing soooooo well without classical training? How is it possible i wonder when people these days are struggling.
Kumar Sanu has inherited this skill carefully studying KK too as he started out as a clone but found his own individual style which listeners loved and he was popular for. These two singers are great as their throat is like a dynamic instrument in itself and the throw is unreal hence emoting in masculine voices sounds better to the ears.
@@ashishnehra5481 LOL! Kumar Sanu??!!! Do you actually sing?

The way Kishoreda climbs SEVERAL OCTAVES at 1:13 just like that, effortlessly. Just try doing that once and you will see how diffficult it is to change pitch so fast...Kishoreda was absolute beast.

You might not be knowing that Indian music and musicians were very talented.
I can't understand that why today's musicians, lyricists and singers can't compose such songs bcoz Indians have several Raagas and many variations in music.
I think todays artists are mad after western music and culture. They want everything readymade . So, they pick up hit western songs , music : modify them in Indian music and raagas and present them before us. Just copying and not making versatile.

Jaane Ja is a singing lesson from Kishore Kumar Sahab and Asha Bhosle. Anand Bakshi’s magical lyrics and R D Burman’s soulful music create one of the greatest Hindi movie love songs. Kishore Kumar Sahab’s voice climbs several octaves while Asha Bhosle occupies the lower depths. The singers are perfectly matched, proving R D Burman’s unmatched ability to orchestrate magic out of differently pitched voices, complex arrangements and wide-ranging musical instruments. If there is anybody who embodies the mad youth suggested by the title, it’s only the maverick composer, R D Burman.
