John 9:4 NKJV
[4] I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
Strong's Definition
Middle voice from G2041; to toil (as a task occupation etc.) (by implication) effect be engaged in or with etc.: - commit do labor for minister about trade (by) work.
Thayer's Definition
to work, labour, do work
to trade, to make gains by trading, "do business"
to do, work out
exercise, perform, commit
to cause to exist, produce
to work for, earn by working, to acquire
John 9:1-5 NKJV
[1] Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. [2] And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" [3] Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. [4] I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. [5] As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
Jesus here speaks about work, day and night, I have been sent for a work
John 11:9-10 NKJV
[9] Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. [10] But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."
John 1:1-5 NKJV
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. [4] In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Working while it is night is impossible, we need the victory that is in the light
The word “do” demands action
The blessing of the Lord on your life needs to be manifest for us to see
Stumbling is distraction, stumbling comes when you’re walking
Stumbling causes delay and steals time
What are the things that are stealing my time
Top ten things that kill productivity:
•Cellphones
•Gossip
•Social media
•Emails
•Conversations with coworkers
•Meetings
•Smoke and Snack breaks
•Noisy coworkers
•Sitting around on your chair doing nothing
Psalm 73:1-3 NKJV
[1] Truly God is good to Israel, To such as are pure in heart. [2] But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. [3] For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Us working while it is still day will not happen when we look at the ungodly and envy them
We cannot be deceived by the things around us
Psalm 73:4-5 NKJV
[4] For there are no pangs in their death, But their strength is firm. [5] They are not in trouble as other men, Nor are they plagued like other men.
There’s a problem when we as the light look at darkness and envy it
Psalm 73:13 NKJV
[13] Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence.
What do you see?
It is still day, time for lazying around is over
We’re on a God assignment
We are the breath of the almighty God, we cannot use words like “it’s my life”
We have been chosen for good works
Matthew 9:36 NKJV
[36] But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
It is time for a church that sees through the eyes of Jesus Christ
Darkness can be present for years until light comes in
Luke 10:30-37 NKJV
Work is not for people who didn’t have anything else to do
Jesus saw us when we were destitute and came down from heaven to save us
Devotion is love, loyalty and enthusiasm over something or someone
Work needs devotion, not to be burdened
We cannot teach enthusiasm
Believers were added to them everyday because they saw their enthusiasm
There’s a problem when light begins to mimic darkness
Matthew 6:22 NKJV
[22] "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.
May the Lord fix the way we see things.
