I think VW is quite conservative when it comes to changes in the cabin overall looks. Mostly these are bought by older people, who dont want to have new and complicated things. Interior in VW is usually very boring. Passat and Arteon are the most conservative models of the company. Probably the same reason why Toyota changed the "joystick" from Auris to a stick when they introduced the new Corolla. It could be similar lever like in MB, buttons or turning wheel.
That touch screen looks like a nightmare to use while driving . What's wrong with knobs and buttons these days ? I notice the car doesn't come with a spare tire

This is just aesthetic, I prefer that than just the black plastic of the bumper, besides if they add real exhausts then the car would be much more expensive, the real exhausts are only for the R versions or GTI for other models, it is just for performance models. VW is not the only German brand doing this, Audi and Mercedes too
