Koh Samet: Best Tropical Island Close to Bangkok Thailand

In this Thailand Travel Vlog, we head to Koh Samet - the closest paradise island to Bangkok! You can get there in just a few short hours by taking a minibus to Rayong, Thailand plus a 15 minute speed boat! We had a 3 day weekend and decided the day of to change our plans and head to this gorgeous beach for the first time!
As it was so last minute we really didn't prepare much! When you arrive on the Koh Samet pier, you need to pay the national park fee (cash only) to enter the island, motorbike rentals are 400 baht/day all over the island (luckily it includes gas) which is the most we've paid for a bike in Thailand, and the island only has 3 ATMs ALL OF WHICH WERE BROKEN THE ENTIRE WEEKEND!!! 😱 Definitely make sure you take cash incase the same thing happens again! We were lucky we could use my Thai bank account still to pay for most things, however if we didn't have a Thai bank account we would've been in trouble!
Koh Samet (Koh Samed) is a small island. It's also very long. Right by the pier you can walk to many different restaurants, a 7 eleven, and a great beach! There are many other beaches you can get to either on a motorbike or by using one of the many songthaews. There was a cute little boardwalk area at the very bottom of the island.
Koh Samet is also cool at night! The entire beach transforms and is covered by beach chairs and bright lights. There are even fire shows on Koh Samet! We definitely recommend heading to this island is you're in Bangkok and you don't have much time to travel very far!

Hi. Nice video. I remember going to Samet in the mid-80s. Nothing there. It was great! Bungalows were right at the beach for like $1. Water was like glass. Sand were white fine powder. There was a small cafe on the beach ran by a very nice older couple. Very good food and warm friendly service. But the pancakes were phenomenal! Best ever I promise. They said one of the visitors taught them. Must have been Gordon Ramsey. They were truly delicious served with strawberry jam. I have fond memories. It was truly paradise.

ถ้าคุณเดินจากท่าเรือ Speed Boat ที่ีรถมาส่งคุณไปประมาณ 300 เมตร คุณจะพบท่าเรือ High Speed Catamaran Ferry ซึ่งเรือลำใหญ่กว่า และถ้าเดินต่อไปอีกจะเจอกับเรือ Regular Speed ที่ราคาถูกกว่าครับ
ผมเคยไปพักที่โรงแรมทางทิศเหนือของเกาะชื่อว่า Samed Seaside Resort ที่นั่นเงียบสงบในวันธรรมดา คนไม่เยอะเหมือนทรายแก้ว
Yesss - we realized that about the different piers when we took the slow boat back! But that hotel sounds nice! 😍 we’ll definitely check it out if we make it back to Koh Samet! 😍

I wholeheartedly recommend South of Koh Samet to anyone who values peace. It is lovely and secluded. My favorite is Ao wai.
That’s the beach we tried to go to before we stopped for lunch at Apache! At the top of the road it seemed like a private resort though. Luckily there were so many nice places all around Koh Samet! 😍

Wow ..The sunrise at Samet Nangshe is very beautiful . For the standing for Thailand nation anthem , I think that Thais stand for 2 times a day to make the foreigners surprise what do you think so.

Koh Kood is an island you shouldn't miss. Beautiful sandy beach and very clear sea water. Still has the nature of the island is high.
We would love to visit Koh Kood! 😍 it’s so far though that it’s hard to do over a weekend 😭 we need some vacation days to get there! ❤️ lol

@@NataliesPassport I recommend you try some homestays at some klongs which connecting to the open sea. Good vibe. But for my family we always book all inclusive package with the resorts 2 nights 3 days. I like peter pan or tinkle bell or bang bao beach resort.😊😊😊 Dont ever miss this Koh.

I’ve been there for 10 years ago I think. Couldn’t remember but my friends and I stayed on the Wong Deaon beach or something.

Watched the whole clip and felt something was missing! Both of your parents!!! Miss them. Missed seeing them being soaked in the rain when traveling to the islands in the south. By the way, have you ever mentioned their names in any clips? Thanks so much for taking us to Koh Samed. I was there more than 30 years ago with friends from secondary school. It has changed a lot. I no longer have to refer to you all as Nat and Carles' parents. It's real joy watching those clips while you were in Thailand. I don't know what it is but I guess it was the love of children to their parents and the parents' love to their kids that permeated in the clips. Thailand was just an element that made it shown. Thanks the internet and TH-cam that makes it possible and allow us to communicate even though we haven't met and known each others in person. It's almost impossible to see young couples taking both of their parents on a trip together. I do admire Nat and Carles' intention for making this trip and also on the parents' side as well that you all came to Thailand. Hope to see you all in the same trips again. Mmm we didn’t work when we were there, but we had cell service and wifi at the hotel. I’d assume the internet would be decent as it’s not too far from the mainland ❤️
