@@gameloden6765 my recollection is it wasn't much different from ordinary Genesis. And there were not a lot of games. But CDs were more novel then. I had music on casettes at the time. I was impressed it would play audio CDs.

Sega CD had some phenomenal games. Dark Wizard, Vay, Lunar 1 & 2, Popful Mail.. I wish I still had mine.
I hated the Sega CD and I was so disappointed that I swore off anything associated with Sega completely. I decided to give them one last chance--when Aliens: Colonial Marines was released. 🤬

Sonic 2 wasn't working, it was the S&K title screen.
I'm pretty sure they made it so if you have that plug in you can play knuckles in previous sonic games, basically old DLC.

It read the first 4mb of the S&K cartridge on top, the 3rd one + Sonic 2 were for looks at that point

I think all the carts in the middle are litteraly ignored and only act as a passthrou so as long as the signle can make it throu theorecitally infinately. (of course real life issues like signle deprecation will eventually stop it but there no like "hard limit" set by the set up anyway)

It didn't even recognize Sonic 2. With just the one S&K cartridge, that would've resulted in the Sonic 2 & Knuckles Title screen, but it was the Sonic & Knuckles one.

That version of the Sega CD was for the 2nd version of the Genesis. The original model sat underneath the console.

Sega cd 2 and md 1 work together. I have each. You just needed some extra cords and extra shielding. Same for the 32x
@@mobiletransportvideoit didn't need any extra shielding it has some cosmetic extras like you see here with the extension plate on the Sega CD. Literally just a lump of plastic.
And the same with the 32X used a different plastic divider to fit the model 1 so it wouldn't wobble.
Both not needed for it to work, the shielding is the same for both models.
@@DukeDudeston looking at my md now, For sega cd there is a plate that holds the extension to mega drive / genesis, there is a plate on the MD that locks into the sega cd, the s there’s a little shield plate around the connector that’s on the md that goes into sega cd. For 32x there’s 2 little metal clips that go into the cartridge slot for the md then you insert the 32x. I think the spacer was for MD2.

Yes, stacking multiple S&K's on top does work! It's because of how the Lock-on Technology works. Here's a quick explanation, although it's not perfect:
The LOT (Lock-on Technology) scans the data of both S&K (Sonic & Knuckles) and the other attached cartridge. LOT looks into the header (the beginning of a Genesis ROM file) of the attached cartridge. If it's Sonic 1, LOT commands S&K to launch Blue Spheres from it's data. If it's Sonic 2, S&K launches Knuckles in Sonic 2. And finally, if it's Sonic 3, S&K launches Sonic 3 & Knuckles. redhotsonic (a channel dedicated to Sonic) has a series called "But Does It Work On Real Hardware?". It has a video testing the Sonic 1 Prototype. He also tries testing it with S&K's LOT, and there's an explanation there how LOT works. Check it out!

The fact that Sega was able to create a system that could be upgraded over time was Fantastic for families that could keep up with the times for the kids to enjoy
They barely released the games for the 32x tho, or for the 32x CD… and 32X was announced just a few months before a new sets console released. And it was just as expensive as the new console at launch
No lmao nobody wanted this bullshit. The CD add-on was honestly neat but didn’t really have the library to be worth buying, not to mention many of its best games were arcade ports that still had perfectly playable Genesis versions, even if the CD versions were better. The 32X was atrocious and had an almost nonexistent library. It was insanely expensive despite the Saturn coming out in just a few months. Hell I’m pretty sure it was already out in Japan. On top of that I remember hearing rumors back in the day that it was poorly made and could fuck up your cartridge reader, not too sure if that was true though

The reason why he only got Sonic & Knuckles is because: Since he put 3 cartridges on top of each other, the memory of each game and the mega drive itself doubles every single time a cartridge is set inside. So sonic 2 is only 32Mb for a singular cartridge. 3 sonic & Knuckles cartridges is equal to 124Mb, so technically you would get an overloaded Sonic & Knuckles.
I didn't even notice that and had to watch it again. That's why I hate these TH-cam shorts. You can't just roll back through them.

2) Insert "XBand"
