I'm going to Tanzania next weeks and I hired same/similar safari. In Tanzania tips are a common thing, but on the safari is tipping something that you had to do? or was something optional?

It was never something we HAD to do, but we felt it was appropriate to tip people along the way, mainly the Maasai village people and our driver. He took very good care of us.

If you go on safaribookings.com, you can set a filter for just a 1-day tour and see what they offer. It can be as high as $600/person but there were some on there for $200-$300. When I was on the ground, I would see some chalkboard signs set up in the street that sold day-trips to the national Parks for about $200 but I don’t know how legit they were. Or check with your hotel and maybe they already have an excursion option. My best advice is go on the website and book it ahead of time.
