Great video again. Had me on the edge of my seat again using tanks for recon lol I think you'll have to have some infantry with the tanks, even if it's only Bennett. Snipers are good at spotting infantry and AT guns. They are also expendable hence the few points needed to get them. If you are replacing or upgrading units, always go for the Guards version as they tend to me much better.
I'm hearing that I should be choosing guards versions. I was also told that the upgrade tree for regular happens sooner, so I keep avoiding them, but despite my efforts, I'm likely not going to have the same tanks in 8 more operations. I'll need to make that switch.
I love how the sniper's rifle in Za Rodinu unit broke and Bogolepelov was trying to fix it xD This game is so full of beautiful details. Remeber - all guns (but heavy ones) are very easy to hide, even after they fired. Use this for ambushes and try to place them bit further. Another great battle report!
Thanks! So you're thinking when I have riflemen on ambush and spring the trap, I open fire, engage, and rehide so they pull their guns back in and hopefully break enemy LOS. Sounds solid!
you dont pay attention when choosing the units. For example you could have refit Vodkin with either a T-34 Flame for more points, or you could have refit him with Guards T-34 for same points you took regular T-34.
So I was paying attention, I deliberately didn't choose guards because I was thinking too far down the road. I want the upgrade tree for the tanks soonest, but I'm realizing that wont happen for several more operations, and by then the tanks will likely have been destroyed anyway. So thanks for the heads up. I will be watching for guards units as I go forward, but there was a (flawed) plan behind the madness!
One of the things I loved about CC:3 was the need to revamp from a more static defensive force to a highly mobile offensive one. That constant juggle made it totally different from the other CC games in the series. On another note, why not drop the sniper for an infantry team? No Flame T34?
I'll probably lose him soon. I figured that he was helping a tiny bit, but I haven't really wanted to spend 20+ points on infantry to take his spot. He has been pretty inactive though, so it's on my mind. I haven't taken a flame because I don't know how effective it will be. You know how I play, and I favor the ranged AT ability, so do you think it will serve me well if I take it, or will it be more of a hindrence?
@@RubberDucky087 Fair enough. The Flame T-34 still has its main gun, but drops the hull MG for the flame thrower. Maybe for the Stalingrad campaign when you needs to deal with infantry in buildings more.
Close Combat squad: Beefier Recon squad & almost as cheap. They're are stealthier & quicker than the eight or ten man squads. (A plus of the 5 man squad being they can hide in every building) Packs more of a punch than most early/mid war medium & rifle squads. Come '43 on, Soviet light infantry start packing more pew pew (5 Ppsh 41s) 5 Ppsh 41s (& 5 Mp 40s of the Fallschrim rifles) is nothng to scoff at.
Ok, thanks! I was looking at them with SMGs like that wasn't a great choice because of range, but if I use them as scouts and require them to engage only very close, that could be beneficial!
30:36 Small & medium At - guns are super ninjas... Why the A.I. can't deal with. Large guns are almost as bad with their cloaking device as the small&medium ones. (Thank goodness for the SUs, nothin like on call, spot on, arty) Though you've multiple eyes on,and have damaged that Pak 36, you'll not spot it. Even if you were to drive your vehicle over it.... Previous battle (day 2) Was actually shocked that Pak 36 was in the open.. Game will always setup a At-gun there, first time I've seen one just right out in the open... RNG smiled on ya :) (I've had 88s hiding in that spot, happily firing away at point blank range while fully cloaked
@@RubberDucky087 Definitely RNG Spotting At-Guns is yet another hidden game mechanic. I've had squads only spot guns after they were right on top off it..and only after thegun had fired at 'em.
Wow those russian vodka rations sure make a diference, even mortars can't hit me... Papa Stalin sure is looking out for me... witch is weird. Ducky are you thinking of starting a community discord or something like that? I would like to contact you so I can share some spare Steam keys, so you can make a giveaway. I can't contribute as a member right now, but I would like to help your channel in other ways.
That's awesome! I do have a community discord set up, and it's tied to my TH-cam. What I can't figure out is if anyone can access it. When I connected it, there were things talking about "members" and I assume that means paid members, but I have a section for "@everyone" that should be fine. When I do searches for info, I can't find an answer for whether or not "subscribers" can access it. All I've seen is that, the viewer needs to have their discord connected to their TH-cam, then they can see it in their connections tab in discord. It's a work in progress, but if you try connecting yours and attempt to find it, you might get in. I would put up a link, but they're only valid for 7 days. I'm looking for a more permanent solution!
Getting painful to watch you play this game. Here are some tips: 1. Review all the possible troops, armor, support, leaders and their point cost first before you do anything. 2. Prioritize your refits and purchases. It is suboptimal to refit an infantry squad missing a couple of soldiers when those points cost you the ability to buy something truly useful like a tank. Just run the squad down a couple guys or rest it. 3. Take your time with your refit and purchase decisions. Review your options again and watch where you could get a better quality unit for the same or marginally higher price. 4. AT guns really aren't very useful on offense. They are extremely slow to move, vulnerable to fire when doing so, and usually won't have line of sight to the half of the board you are trying to take. Retire the guns and get more mobile units. 5. Practice combined arms action. You tend to act with one or two isolated units of a single type rather than acting with an infantry and armor team backed by mortar and/or machine guns. Infantry alone are vulnerable to enemy tanks. Tanks alone are vulnerable to AT guns and handheld infantry AT weapons; let the infantry scout ahead a bit, particularly if you have some cheap small units like a recon team or sniper.
Thanks for the advice. I'll work on that with upcoming battles! I can spend more time examining the units during requisition, I sometimes rush as I try to balance getting things moving. I am about ready to ditch the AT guns, so I'll be working towards getting more assets that can maneuver. Sometimes I do the combined arms very well, and others I totally miss out on it and allow the infantry to stay back and the tanks are off on their own. Thanks for the reminder.
Great video again.

@@RubberDucky087 ... and remember AT guns are good against tanks but infantry guns are great at everything else (and will deal with lighter tanks).
I might need an infantry gun. My problem is committing to it when I have limited points but I COULD take a tank instead.

@@RubberDucky087 yes, the expendability of the tanks will be much higher then when you played as German.
