- Every year we are always looking for those players who take that next big step and we can all say we knew they would be the one to have the "breakout season". Who could that player be this year?
We also take a listener question from Finland not just about if / when Gabriel Landeskog returns, but what happens if things aren't going well once he does? Who makes the call nobody wants to make?
Finally, we got the sad news that Altitude is not picking up the 3rd year of the contract for Katie Gaus. A sad day indeed and we had to take the time to say thank you.

Dammitall, quite fond of Katie Gaus since the day she showed up here. She'd ask good questions, and never interrupt the answer. A lot of charm, too. Dammit.
She was all class
I think the Gabe question is something we’ve all thought about in the back of our minds but never wanted to say it out loud. I have no doubt he’ll return…….but! How long for? Will he be able to produce?
I truly want him to return to glory (we all do) but will he? Only time will tell.
Between Gabe and Val I think we have a very interesting season ahead on and off the ice

I think Landy's departure is going to be Landy's decision. About like Elway choosing to retire despite Shanahan's sureness that Elway could continue. Tough moment, but Landy knows better than his coach or doctor(s) if he can continue at a level that *he* finds acceptable.
I'm holding out here. I think he's got a few years of hockey left in him, and he's being smart about healing enough before testing it.
Agree with Mr Doom's choices on breakouts this coming season, which isn't coming soon ENOUGH.

I agree 💯. Good old McFarland, stacking the Avs with undersized soft NCAA players. Vegas, The Oilers, and Florida understand this
I thought Katie did a great job and wish her well. Not sure what happened but she was dealt a bit of a bad hand coming in when she did after the cup win where the vibe from the fanbase went from the ultimate high to a bit of a dark and dreary feeling at times. And can’t forget shortly after her arrival saw the passing of McNab which was the greatest blow that crew could take and was devastating to all the fans as well. And she never got to cover a single game in her two years with an actual captain on the ice who is beloved by the entire Avs fanbase. Can’t forget getting stuck in the studio with Lacroix who although seems like a great guy and very knowledgeable, was a terrible fit. Just hasn’t been the same chemistry since 2022 and I think some fans that didn’t care for her was less because of her body of work and more because she was an unfortunate victim of circumstance.
She will be fantastic where she goes next
There could be any number of reasons why Altitude let Katie Gaus go. There are things that we will probably never be privy to. She could have pissed off the wrong person. Most likely we'll never know.
