Man. Ikey, Omar, Juan, Thomas (although I prefer Jon). Do you have any idea of how fucking insane these dudes are? This is like musical ayahuasca, we just gotta be thankful such an encounter took place and we could witness it.
I have to take year long breaks from this band or else I kind of start to go insane listening to it day and night and talking to everyone about obsessed I am! Favorite band and favorite vocalist of all time, Tool being tied depending on which band I'm more into atm.
This concert was exceptional for him. On the performance of "Tetragrammaton" he's hitting full F5s and trying for full F#5s (failing, but coming close).
Haha. Yeah, it's actually 4 separate 3 minute songs haha. I remember when I found out Cassandra Gemini was one song, and being the naive teenager I was thought that was uncool and unwise.... almost 10 years later and I lost count of how many times I've listened to it.

@@sportsterfanatic6593 I'm coming at you guys from the future...but in a Drumeo video Thomas explains that Omar demanded he do some weird stuff, like play beats where you accent everything with the left hand - no ghost notes. Seeing this band live is an out of body experience 100%. They are the cream of the crop. They opened up for the Chili Peppers and made them look like a garage band years ago. I can't express how musically genius and advanced they are. Hendrix would be so proud.
I feel as though every member of this band kept challenging each other to perform their best in this performance after every solo. It's like taking turns in a gangbang on the audience's ears.
Got to meet Thomas Pridgen a few years ago at NAMM. Such a cool and chill dude. And I'm gonna see The Mars Volta AND Thundercat open for the Chili Peppers in May. SO stoked
I was drawing on an app on my laptop while watching this. Every app but the TH-cam that I had this music on crashed. Apparently my laptop can't handle the awesomeness of the Mars Volta.
Don't you just love it when you are balls deep in the middle of a music track and just because you went from FullScreen to Small Screen Fucking TH-cam has to throw in a goddamn commercial for you before you can back to the best fucking part of the song. Thanks Martin Shrek-li
I knew it! I knew I had heard that goddamn riff somewhere! God damnit. 'never heard a man speak like this man before' as they blast out a modified version of a deep vintage metal cut is still art. But the mystery is FINALLY solved. Thank you. I thought this band had magical powers. I'm glad they dont.
+Cody With A C yeah its the mars volta who is unsure of what they want. they've even said they loved jon and firing him was stupid. and pridgen is insanely good, and doing exactly what they want. they just fired dave elitch from Antemasque and replaced him with muthafuckin Travis Barker, there's really no rhyme or reason to it all.

This song and a lot of others are always really good, this band will probably never die.
"Goliath" is the perfect name for this song. It just feels HUGE.
This tempo makes the outro part insanely fast, and they still manage to keep it so heavy, just awesome
The bass player is the true hero of this band.
God bless Juan.
why??
Having to keep everything together with this bands chaotic style is a monumental task.
The real MVP

Neat wardrobe tho.
I can hear that immediately and im not a pro. I play drums as a hobby but this sounds off.

Cedric skimps some parts so he can nail the ones he finds necessary. People give him flak for it but he knows what he's doing.

Is this The Mars Volta or The Drummer feat. The Mars Volta?
