I am a Crispa diehard and idolized Mr. Atoy Co. I had my first encounter with atoy when I was an engineering freshman. While buying some supplies at Mapua bookstore. Nakatabi ko ang isang mama na napakataas. Si atoy na pala kaya tuwang tuwa ako. I think he was already about to graduate with his chem engg course batch '74.
Kababayan ko si Atoy Co kaya Solid Crispa fan talaga ako. Kapag may laro ang Crspa Toyota nasa kuarto kami lahat ng landlady namin, nag aaway away kami sa Boarding house. Grabe kantiyawan, pikonan talaga.
Toyota fan here,but after watching the interview, i became an instant fan... he is very down to earth, a real icon in PBA. He is never short of sharing his stories after his stint ended in basketball, ganito ang masarap panoorin, napaka totoo, walang kayabang yabang.

Thank you, Julius for this interview. I was a Crispa/Atoy Co fanatic from 1980 (1st Grade) until the team disbanded 😄 Sila ang reason kaya natuto ako manood ng TV without sound. Maaga ang tulog ng mga bata nong '80s kaya patago manood ng PBA game lalo na pag Conference Finals. Pumaparaan para makasali sa kantiyawan sa school the following day. Ang chant namin noon is Crispa-nalo, Toyota-lo! 😂 They were part of my unforgettable childhood memories.
Nice interview. Jaworski is my idol. But sometime in my younger years I heard about this man. A very brilliant player. Taliwas sa mg negative comments about him. The PBA always focus on Jaworski. Sure this man have greater contribution in PBA. I admired him next to Jaworski.
Thanks, Julius, for an entertaining interview with Atoy Co. He showed admirable humility. I am a Mapua alumnus and have seen him play many times for Che/Chm basketball team (intramural league). It is true, their team was always the champion due to his high scores. Sayang, when Coach Ike Liwanag of MIT Red Robins took over the Cardinals, Atoy quit the varsity team. Nalungkot buong school kasi major contender sa NCAA ang MIT at the time (vs DLSU with Lim Eng Beng). Good for him as he focused on his basketball career and the rest is history. May God bless him and his loved ones.
Toyota Fan here. Galit at Inis ako sa Crispa players noon not because of anything kasi ang gagaling nila. Tapos naka-grandslam pa. 😂😂😂 But looking back & watching this nakatuwa & brings back a lot of memories. Kudos & salute to all the Crispa & Toyota Management, Players & Fans. Their behind why PBA is here up to this day. Even if I'm a BGSM Diehard now. But still nothing compares during the Toyota-Crispa days.

My dad is one of his college professor in Mapua, everytime he talks about basketball he always mention Mr.Co as his former student 😊 up to now he is already 81 years old.

naglaro ang crispa sa amin abucay bataan kalaban ang team ng cubi point early 70's . kasama ni atoy co sina soriano my neighbor, florencio, papa, abarientos, revilla, adornado. iam 12 years old at noon ako nahilig sa basketball. he is 8 years older than me. hindi ako sumikat sa basketball but i played alot untill 2010. iam avid crispa fan until 1982 when i joined the us navy at subic bay. hindi ko na nasundan kung ano ang nangyari sa crispa at pba. i have lots of memories about crispa toyota rivalry. i watch them one time at araneta noong 1976. thanks to atoy for the memories. he is great basketball player , i imitate his fade away shot.

I was a die-hard Meralco / Toyota fan and hated Crispa. Atoy Co was deadly from the perimeter. I believe his jersey number was #6. His patented fade-away jump shot was unstoppable. Atoy Co is a one of a kind basketball player. --dribbles with his left hand, shoots with his right and can take off on either foot. Not even a Jordan, Lebron, or Curry can do that.
