World Cat In Big Waves

  • I was down at Manasquan Inlet yesterday during the storm and came across one bad-ass sea trial. The waves were breaking over the end of the jetty and these two crazies were seeing if they could catch air in a center console. The boat handled amazingly in the conditions.

That would be a bad place for the engines to cut out! I could only imagine what the Barnegat Inlet looked like on that day! Boat definately handled well!

@expostfactum. Expostfactum, the WC diesel model has a defective hatch design over the engines & EVC boxes that allowed water to be sucked into the turbos and drain over the electronic controls. The hatch is a 90 degree angle hatch that is not even close to being watertight. These sit on the swim section.

Those aren't big waves! That's a fairly calm sea in the Northwest. No question they ride well, but does the company stand behind their product?

Recently, met a guy from California who bought a brand new 2005 model diesel and he says he has had nothing but problems with the boat. He says his boat has been in the shop 10 times in the first 2 years, and WC has done near nothing to fix his boat, although he paid for the warranty. This guy says he can't take it out because it breaks down constantly. To me this is not a good situation, as I thought WC was a better company than that?

Found out that the company will NOT disclose to potential or current owners if a boat has had any major structural damage or service issues, this is "company policy" as the owner of World Cat puts it. Now, for anyone interested in buying a used World cat boat you will never get info from the dealers or the factory if there has been any major repairs or defects.....so BEWARE OF BUYING A USED WORLDCAT BOAT.

Since 2005 World Cat boats get stress cracks just sitting at the dock or on the trailer. Every one I have ever looked at had stress cracks everywhere. Phyllis Manning at WC headquarters said ALL fiberglass boats get stress cracks....I think she is smoking crack. Only lousy built boats get stress cracks all over them was my response.

+worldcat lemon You're a liar. You are the same dude that was stupid enough to buy a diesel inboard worldcat when almost no one buys them and they built so few of them. You spend your days writing crap about them anywhere you can. Why buy a boat that there was hardly any others to do research on and get feedback? You were stupid to buy a boat with no proven track record. They have a ten year hull warranty that they never have to pay on because nothing ever goes wrong with their hull. Time to move on. You got a bad design and it crapped on you, move on.

The super Cat diesel that fished in the canyons of the Atlantic suffered severe hull damage due to the beating taken from ocean swells...and that was years ago too. Lessons were un-learned. The makers of pontoon boats warn buyers not to use their boats on the great lakes due to the degrading effects of large swells...take a hint! Limit their use on rivers and inland waters...an engineer talking.

So, have you actually owned or have had hands on experience with catamarans? I noticed I've come across 5 different videos and you post the same fucking thing every time. So, 1 fishing boat you heard about encountered hull damage? If it was a diesel driven cat, it was probably a Baja King Cat and those were junk.....concerned citizen talking.

I would like to see the owner of World Cat, Andrew brown, take one of his diesel model boats out in a rough sea. I bet he wouldn't have the guts to do it because they are a death trap. How about it Andrew let's take a diesel ECS model out. We both know a guy in California that has one........I'll buy the fuel!Stay away from diesel model WC"s. World Cat warranty, in my opinion, is a worthless document that will cost owners even more money. Save money and don't buy the warranty.

Just for the record....NMMA CERTIFICATION IS A JOKE. WC pays the NMMA membership dues and wham! The boat gets this worthless marketing stamp, and the consumer thinks it ensures a quality boat........NOT TRUE! Beware builders who make a big deal about NMMA CERTIFICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
