- I have decided to sell my motor yacht "The Dark Side" and go back to a sailboat. I have already paid a deposit on a sailing catamaran! The Dark Side is a 1997 Hatteras 60' Cockpit Motor yacht. It was originally a Hatteras 52' motor yacht but the aft cockpit and swim deck were added on.

Wow, nice Hatteras. Brings back old memories when my partner and I sold our Hatt 58 Yachtfish. Loved that boat for cruisin Florida and the Bahamas.

When I was a teenager some 40 years ago my hobby was studying motor yachts via magazines and Hatteras was one of the dream brands. But on the pricey side. I like the compact, practical motor yacht designs. Looking forward to the ocean crossing adventures.

Ya know, you can watch enough videos to know Bobby took care of this boat. It may not be perfect, but it's in good shape. Cannot wait for getting back to sailing! Circumnavigation going to be awesome.
Glad to hear you're getting rid of that boat especially for a fuel prices today. Get back the sailing brother you know that's where it's all at and you seem so much happier when you're sailing instead of running a power boat. This!!! I originally found flying doodles first, then went back and started the sailing Doodles series as a subscriber. I remember watching Bobby making the ramps so Goose and Maverick could get in and out of that tiny original sailboat!!!
Please use some of your shoreside time to do a few Flying Doodles episodes each year!! I really enjoyed meeting good guy pilots and learning about their planes!!!

We go back and forth between power and sail. A catamaran would be great but marinas charge double moorage because you take 2 spots unless you get an end tie. Which are rare. If your cruising it's not a worry. $350k is big $$$. Goodluck.
Those 2-stroke Detroit Diesels are crazy! Apparently they will still fully function UPSIDE DOWN!! The U.S. Navy apparently has a love affair with them because they've been buying them for over 100 years for the Fleet. They are very simple designs that are very robust. They will continue to function even if you somehow capsize your boat. Bonkers.

Sad to see the Dark Side being left behind but you will have further great adventures in your future Cat. I can’t wait to watch them. I would think getting a good crew for longer trips will be a challenge because they can’t leave in the middle of the ocean. Hopefully Steph will continue with you. Have fun!
He can cherry pick among his patrons for crew. I suspect many would be happy to sign up for a few weeks of time with Sailing Doodles! They might even pay him a bit for the experience. Use that money to pay the travel expenses of several fresh crew members who look great in 👙 bikinis to keep it fresh!!

It's been a good run, with half of the world still shut down for covid, she's been a great boat for hopping around the Caribbean, I've enjoyed your adventures, but for me, I do like the long passages and seeing more of the different cultures as you island hop around the globe... Hope she sells quickly so you can get on with your world travel without stressing about selling her...

I do not think you will have a real difficult time selling the boat as demand is exceeding supply for those with means to afford such things. I suspect the same issues are at play for your new Cat. That should open up long distance cruising to you and like the rest hope Stephanie will be part of the first crew.

I don't know if this extremely detailed, well-presented video will help or hurt in selling the boat 😁 It is VERY eye-opening as far as what you'll be getting into and what you'll have to manage and maintain. But I guess, it's all about the passion for sailing 😍
People buying a boat like this, of this age, should know what they're getting into. I see too many learning the hard way and dont have the ability to fix themselves or afford someone else to do it. I have a Hat 52, lots of maintenance no matter how many upgrades are/were made.

He was a commercial pilot had a stroke got disability. Can’t fly anymore at least for a living. He still gets medical disability most likely.
Patreon would dwarf what he gets from TH-cam. Plus the ads in the channel and public appearances.
The 8v92s are great engines. When Dark Side is eventually cut up, someone will take the 8v92s out and rebuild them and they'll keep going.

At times it seems like the boating life involves buying the boat, constantly repairing the boat, and then selling the boat. It's like the circle of boat life.

Actually it is not too much and my guess it will have already gotten an offer....60ft does not require a captains license and great boat for the loop or live aboard....yes it need some TLC but the value is there with the Haterras

No one usually gets the full price. People always try to negotiate down. So, you add 10-15% to the price you want.
