One thing I learned about the containers homes, is that I definitely want a ten foot wide container instead of the eight foot wide.
That 2 extra feet would probably make a huge difference! James did a good job with these though, we were impressed! Do you think you may build a container home in the future?

Ive built 4 container homes (CA & AZ)
Here are the challenges:
Road permitting costs make using 10’ containers WAY WAY WAY more expensive
They are fare more rare so they cost more and get used more further worsening the issue
They are less stable when cutting due to leverage.
If you want 10’ width use stick building and clad it in corrugated metal.
@@sierrajade63 slide outs only make sense for lightweight mobile trailers. The leverage cost completely and insulation challenges are terrible for a fixed in place structure
I say this would make a perfect home for many on a full time basis. 👌🏼

Our mountains are gorgeous that why I can't live anywhere else. Anytime I lived in different states I always had to come back home.😊
Stick built is always cheaper than container built. Because you don't have to worry about welding which is a major expense! It's cool to see what types of houses can be made out of containers but it's not practical as stick built is.

That depends entirely on terrain, foundation, permitting and logistics for the containers. Ive built four of them. If youre after trick cantilever designs and have a chill zoning, containers are easier and more cost effective.

Any recommendations for the one who did the interior and where the shipping container came from, already have a lot to purchase but I really don’t know yet if the county will allow a shipping container in the area......❤️love it 🥰

If your county requires permitting expect to spend $18-20k on a full bespoke stamped engineering plan-set and be ok with not having insurance as next to no companies write policies for them.

Hi Edward! Thank you for watching and reaching out to us! Unfortunately we do not know that information because we do not own this container home. We just stayed there overnight. But when we spoke to the owner he said it cost the same as about a small house. So we would estimate anywhere from 100k-200k. We hope that helps!
I can answer your questions even though I didnt build this unit. Depending on inflation, be prepared to spend $175-225ft2 for something like this depending on foundation type.
If its a remote location with little or no city services, that could easily go up another 25%.
For reference this home is 480ft2

Who would have thought a home 8' wide and was a shipping container would be considered a luxury today.
Decades ago when mobile homes went from 12' wide to 14', I thought that was a step up.
Now there are people happy with something much, much smaller, has our standard of living fallen this much ?
By the way, if you can afford an acreage with a fantastic view like that, why would you choose to live in a shipping container ?
Hahaha it is kind of crazy when you think about it logically! But it is a neat and unique experience and you can certainly add in luxury touches even though it’s a small space! With this being an Airbnb it is definitely a short term experience that I think a lot of people enjoy. We hope you enjoyed our video and we hope you will subscribe to our channel!😊
It’s because some of us care about the environment and want to have a smaller footprint. Also some of us hate cleaning and paying expensive bills to heat, cool, larger spaces that we don’t really use.

I live on the south side of Indianapolis Indiana I wish I can have me a man's man's man's house with a man's man's garage but I don't have enough money so I'm in an apartment life for now there is a bar around the corner next to my neighbors and I wish I could have it but like I said no money and if I did have that little bar I will turn it into a man's man's house with a man's man's garage for a reason and I want my house to be all efficacy energy-saving used but like I said not enough money I wish it could happen but my dreams are not going to come true right away if it did if he awesome
