Thanks coach, I'm in ninth grade going into my second day of tryouts. The coaches are pretty strict but I got some new found confidence. Remember guys, the reason why your coaches are tough is because they want to see your potential succeed and they want you to work hard, cuz hard work always pays off. Good luck to you all 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 Edit: got cut boys 🥲🥲🥲
same mane I played in the summer with him, I played in the fall with him but never got minutes. I was maybe a spot away but when it came to me and the other guy I got cut. I wont ever be able to experience freshman ball again.
Just had my first EVER basketball game tonight, in both the games (We have a A Game and B Game) I had 4 Points, 10 Rebounds, 1 assist and a block. Not important to the video, just wanted to share lol (I’m 5’7 Btw) Update: After 7 Games, I just got the starting spot at a position that 6 other kids are.
Man i also got my tryouts today i am scared idk how to do that shit, still i will try they are really hard because of if you miss a basket you will be kicked
Thanks so much for the videos they just get better and better! I love that you picked this topic with all of the tryouts coming up for everyone! Guys listen to this guy he knows the game and he knows what he’s talking about! Also another thing Is you have to realize that bad things will happen no matter what they happen to the pros and even more to us there will be times when your shooting is off or you make bad passes the first thing you got to do after a bad play like that is get it completely out of your head don’t worry about it at all just worry about where you are in the current game otherwise if you let you’re mistakes get to you your even more likely to make more mistakes. Good luck with all of your guys tryouts and upcoming season!
If I lived near you I’d have you coach me as soon as I started watching you! You’re channel may be small to some other basketball coaches but you are so much better then them!
I go to a very tough school with high skill level competition and it's always a constant battle against everyone or at least that's how it feels, and unfortunately for my first year I didn't make it, last year the coach had said that if I had the guts to keep getting better as I was only starting that I would reach far, a week before tryouts now and lowkey I’m feeling like ill make it to jv this year. I've worked harder than everybody on that court they don't know it and nobody believes in me. but I believe and I know what I've done to bring me to where I am today, I'll tell u if I make the tryouts, and good luck bro I'm sure you'll make it.
Another thing you could do is if you mess up, don’t put your head down. Have that next play mindset. That’ll show coaches that you have a great mentality and that you stay focused even if you make a mistake
I have a tryout today thank you so much for the tips it was really perfect time to come out with this video my biggest tip is if you can’t control anything else you can control your EFFORT!!!
Glad you enjoy the vids! I’ll definitely have to make a video going into this but in general, play as much as you can, try to join a team or league if you can. Watch a ton of basketball and commit to actually learning and understanding the concepts involved. And then develop a plan, what do you want to improve and how are you going to do it and then stick to that plan.
This Really helped me so much! I am a 4'8 7th grader who has been playing basketball for only a year and I found out yesterday I made the team. Your videos have really contributed to me making the team. Thank you so much! Edit: it’s been a year and I’m back watching this video the day before tryouts. We had the fitness gram yesterday and they measured my height and I’m still 4’8 💀
I’m a senior I have never actually been on the team before. I wasn’t able to tryout due to being at private school. I’m a good shooter, fast but not the best at finishing in traffic. I’m only 5’10 but I’m athletic and always finish top2-3 in the sprints. I have been going to the workouts and been showing interest for months now. I know most of the team is mostly already figured out but I know I’m good enough to make it. It’s just about the coaches truly wanted me. They tell me I’m good and they like how much work I put in and I have potential. Being on this team is all I think about. Any advice come tryouts?
Hello Coach! Once again thank you so much coach for this amazing video, in my opinion you are the best basketball channel on yt. I find with tryouts just take every opportunity you get to showcase your skills on the court. Try and get as much playing time as possible on the court.
thx for all the content! also im extremely nervous for tryouts next year, i already know im in this year (im transferring schools nex year) im skilled but sometimes in games i freeze up. i feel like my game doesnt flow just naturally. i dont have much opportunity to play pickup in the off season, so its hard. any tips on how to just become a natural so the game will flow more for me? mabey its lack of confidence, idk. i struggle, any tips?
Yeah it’s definitely a lack of confidence. Obviously the best thing you could do is play more, even if it’s only 1 on 1. I’d also recommend watching more basketball and studying the game. Maybe pick players who play a similar position to you and do a deep dive on them and what makes them successful.
@@VisionDrivenBasketball thx coach. i already watch NBA all the time but I'll try to focus on studying certain players. I played 3v3 today and seemed to be more confident to drive in! things kinda clicked today. i forced up a couple bad shots and such (mistakes are gonna happen) but overall i got to the basketball with tough defense guarding me!!
hey coach, I am a great player who is an amazing defender. But I am so nervous. The problem is my shot falls one day and doesn't the next day basically my scoring isn't consistent. I work in the gym a lot but I don't know why. The freshmen team is the first team I am ever going to be on. So can you please give me tips? Thanks!Great videos btw
hey i was wondering if you could make another shooting class but free I'm going into 7th grade and tryouts are in December the thing is that we have to go against 8s and 9s in out tryouts unless your trying out for junior so if you have any tips for me or even if you could pls make a free version it would be really appreciated thank you for reading this if you did.
Thanks so much for the advice! I am somewhat a mid-high skilled player and tryouts are in around 2 weeks, any advice? I go to a private school so around 12 people will make the team and assuming that the same people from last year's junior team (10th grade 7 people) will also make it this year, that would leave 5 spots which I know 4 people in my class will definitely make the team. While i consider myself somewhat close to them (and even able to win in a 1v1 against some of them) I would definitely like to improve because everyone else will also be fighting for that 1 spot. My strengths are being a really good slasher, somewhat able to catch and shoot, and a good communicator and a decent leader. However, my left hand is kinda weak and I like lose my creativity whenever I drive left and catch and shoot dribbling is kinda iffy for me. Since I know people know this and will try to use this against me during tryouts to boost themselves as a defensive player, what should I do/work on during these 2 weeks?
Definitely work on the left hand if ur really good at finishing that will open up ur shot so u gotta hit those. talk on defense do the little things like boxing out etc
Hey so question so I’m trying out for our middle school team in October like when the coach is explaining the drill I pay attention but is it okay too ask if he can show it again or clarify I’m a visual learner so I work best when I see someone go through the drill
For my school, its 3 days. They make you do 3 man weave, 3 on 1 transition basketball, they make you run to test your conditioning, 1 on 1 drills, defensive drills, and see if you can excecute the plays. Etc.
You’d better be the best communicator, a great and supportive teammate, extremely coachable and a great listener, and someone who gets good grades and stays out of trouble because you don’t have room for error. If you aren’t skilled chances are you won’t play a lot so you need to have those qualities of a great team member if you want to be a part of the team. The stuff mentioned in this video is extremely important for you!
I have tryouts tomorrow and my heart been pounding all day
how did it go?

Even though I haven’t made the team the past 3 years, the coach said that I had a great attitude and liked that I asked questions on how to improve.

Be great on defense since that’s what you lean towards and be aggressive on offense if you have the skills to do so
I have a national team tryout this Friday and I’m super nervous

I was suppose to make the team but since I got suspended the coach didn't want me😭
