For me, the '58 Strat. The reason is easy. That guitar sounds awesome and 1958 is my Year of birth. She's looking good, a little relic, not to much. What I missed, the pinholeburns on the headstock. @@silviosantapaola2825 True, but they are only made to order, and they are more expensive than the already expensive Fender ones.... However they are made from alder, and to me, a Telecaster should be made from ash. That goes for the P90 Artisan too.

Guitar Pedal Demos True but kinda moot. There are plenty of great guitars, which means you can select one that’s either relic or not. We’re talking about that choice. Not really whether it plays well ;)
I never got the whole relic thing personally, the only way I see any desire for this would be some sort of a collector that doesn’t play and just wants to paint that illusion as he hangs it on his wall with a dozen other unaffordable guitars 😣
Man Fender is killing it again. I’m in awe every time. I have two guitars, both Fender (not custom) but anyhow this video makes me a proud Fender owner.
Good one. I'm thinking about selling my Suhr sss to buy a custom shop sss. The custom shop fender felt much more lively than the suhr strat. Took me a while to pay off that Suhr.

Finally Fender's moving it's self into the future, at least it's guitars. Watching Mesa Bogie patent so many ideas that should belong to Fender on it's amps . I own Fender products and my best advise is to buy any product Fender makes that doesn't come out of CHINA at least for now. PLAY IT FIRST.
That P-90 tele is the TRUTH. I can't get over all that flamed wood! Too bad I can only afford the standards 😂. Should be a jazzmaster pickup instead of a P-90 tho..
Beautiful, amazing sounding guitars. I love how he confirmed what I've always known; "Anything you change on the guitar, even the pickguard, will change the sound." Thank you. I'm loving the Esquire. Does Fender accept Souls' for trade?
Anodized pickguards don't enhance high frequencies, they affect the magnetic field and sweetens the highs. Use it on my strat to tame down the icepickyness of the pickups.
I knew there was a reason i Esquired a used DIY kit Tele (the 'straight-no-chaser' bypass especially!) apart from my uncle owning a '55 Esquire until he traded it for a Gretsch sometime in the 60s. I'm diggin' the half-&-half Alnicos of the 1st Strat as well as the '58. The Teles got nice vibes going on too!
Amazing! What I don't understand with the 1950 Esquire is, why didn't you route a channel for the neck pickup cables in the body? Honestly, that makes no sense to me. How am I supposed to install the neck pickup when there is no way of getting the cables down to the controls. Or am I missing something?
Make me an Esquire just like that except with a thinner neck, a truss rod and available in a flash coat of black, see thru "wash" white and shell pink and under $2200.

Not that they’re not quality instruments, but the custom shop’s catalogue is more or less exclusively vintage regurgitations. I wish you could do something a bit more modern.
Actually, that's the opposite problem I have. Almost all their offerings are "vintage" in name only. Every year they roll out year marked basses with horrible modern spec necks. Medium Jumbo frets, and 9.5 or flatter radius. If I wanted a Fender that played like a knock off I could save a lot of money and just buy a Nash.
God that’s a matter of opinion. They used to have a series for what you’re talking about. It was called the Custom Classic. The Time Machine Series was true to spec instruments. Now with the exception of two Rosewood board Basses and the limited edition 51 you can’t get a true to spec Reissue or recreation of a P bass made in the US. They are all bastardized with modern necks. If you’re putting a year on something then it’s default specs should be true and you can pay extra and wait for whatever you want done to it. The American Vintage series is gone. Now all US factory Basses are modern neck only. It’s ridiculous. Glad I got both my AVS 57 P and CS Time Machine P when I did. The Shop offerings have gone to hell since Mike left. Fender now treats Basses like big guitars. It reminds me of Gibson.
@OmniPlayer Sound Correct. Not knocking the Mexi basses, but the Vintera signals a step in the same direction from the Roadworn and Classic series basses. The Road Worn and Classic Lacquer 50's P had correct finish, and neck specs, hardware (minus tug bar and covers), and the only thing you really had to swap if you wanted to upgrade it was the electronics as they were modern pick ups and tone circuits. Now the AO has followed suit. I believe not only has the fretboard radius changed, I don't think they are using the correct tone circuits anymore. It's all cost cutting most likely. However, we had the AVS for 30 plus years (yet somehow never got a 51 Reissue in it). The AO is already failing. I don't mind paying extra for a Fender that plays and sounds like a Fender using the correct specs. That's not an option from Fender on basses at all anymore outside of the Custom Shop and most of them require a special order. Despite having a large assortment of "year" models. The Journeyman and Post Modern series all have years attached to them with modern necks. The 69 P bass has a modern neck radius. It's ridiculous.
