I cried all the way through this, thank you for showing it, I am a New Zealander living in WA for almost 20 years now...I miss our culture...especially the way we do funerals, our families perform the haka and more, it's our way of life...I appreciate you so much
You hear of people complaining about the ABs doing the Haka prior to games but they don’t understand the honor and respect that is being offered , not too many kiwis have received such a overwhelming tribute as did Lomu , Kia Kaha Jonah
I remember the first time I saw the haka was on TV while my dad was watching a match. I was 13 i didn’t know what it meant or why they were doing it but I felt goosebumps all over. They have such a rich and powerful culture only a hater would complain about it regardless of knowing the meaning behind it 🤷🏾♀️
It is more of an honor to understand that ther is a special Haka for eve y occasion...Every Haka is respected for it simply being performed. Those criticizing the Haka more than likely have no culture of its own and it will always go way over their heads....
As an Englishman I never thought I would have cried whilst seeing the Haka. But believe me this chocked me up & seeing your reactions one could see you were genuinely moved while watching the video. The Haka isn't just a battle cry, it's more than that. It's also about honor, tradition & also respect. And I can't think of a more honourable & respectful tribute than these very powerful Haka's for the greatest ever rugby player. Not just for the All Blacks but the whole rugby world. R.I.P
The special thing about all this is that all these people doing the haka all ain't from New Zealand... there actually maoris, Polynesians, whites , all sorts of cultures... but that what us New Zealanders all about ... the haka all so brings our small country together as one .... LOVE IT 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
the looks on those men's faces brought tears to my eyes. The haka is such a beautiful tradition and gets you right in the heart. they have different for joy, farwells and thanks
I just want to say how proud and elated I am to see you delving and exploring our PASIFIKA cultures. I have not witnessed anyone that has really taken on and be at awe with all of us Pasifika.. God bless you.
FYI.. @2:20 far right at the end is Buck Shelford. Its 1986..20mins into a game against the French, Buck got caught in an aggressive ruck. His testicle was ripped from his scrotum and was hanging outside of his body. He also lost 4 teeth. Our rugby players are hard as nails..They're tough b*starts. Wayne 'Buck' Shelford was the toughest player in history in my opinion. Jonah Lomu will forever be my favorite. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂
Being Australian there’s a lot of friendly rivalry between us and NZ but I can say wholeheartedly their Māori people and culture hold the utmost respect. I still get goosebumps when I hear and see the haka. I think the world would be a better place if we could come together and feel that bond, togetherness and magic that binds people with the haka
I appreciate this record of Jonahs tribute. Thank you. NZ should remember such unity when silly people try and divide the many races that comprise New Zealand. I like the thought of Jonah as a peacemaking dove, bring the world together in Union. The haka too as a unifying force...is a good thing. The world needs more unifying things. Rugby. Heroes. Team. Hakas. Family.
Jonah was a legend, a beast on the field, a beautiful, generous, kind man off it. Taken too soon, why is it always the best ones? Even before he died suddenly, there was never a bad word spoken about him. RIP JL. Thanks for your reaction
It's 2024 and I have just seen this moving tribute to an absolute gentle giant. But what I really want to do is congratulate you sir. You spoke eloquently and with style. Once again, well done sir and RIP Big Man😢
I just love the Haka !!! And i am from South Africa. And i just hate it , when the NZ plays in SA and the fools in the crowd start singing rubbish whilst the All Blacks are performing it !!
Kudos to you bro…I got your immigration papers anytime you want them haha Great to see the love for our Pacific brothers and sisters. Jonah was a gentle giant and fierce on the field. I always remember that day very sad we lost a legend and he will never be forgotten RIP and love big guy ♥️ Thanks for the respect and for the reaction awesome stuff 😊
Firstly thank you for the effort and respect you put into this video ❤ Explaining who he was and how special he was on and off the feild. The outpouring of love shown from around the world when he passed was so lovely to see and this send off was so beautiful 💗 RIP big man 🕊 Gone far too soon 😢
Kia ora. You should check into a book called Facing the Haka. Lots of pics and stories about the Haka and those that performed it throughout the years and what it is like to be across from it. Translations are included. As many times as I’ve seen this video, I’d never noticed that the pallbearers are interlocked as if they are in a scrum. Beautiful. Aroha from the hills of West Virginia.
Thank you for sharing this about this well known in Rugby Jonah born and raised in NZ but full blood Tongan his parents both Tongan, like IAM Tongi originally from Tonga.
'still moved by this tribute to Jonah Lomu.. I can relate...this is the value that I love the most, WE, people from Pacific.. WE enjoy things together, WE cry together in sad days because all évents if our lives are lived together family in the wildest meaning of Family...
Thank you for sharing this haka tribute to this awesome athlete! He is blessed to have his family, friends, & loyal admirers to be a part of this day..❤
All our past present, and future All blacks men are all here for Jonah and im in awe, To see this. with Respect to his family and friends. being proud as a all blacks supporter for life. Rest easy jonah your spirit is still with in Aotearoa NewZealand.
We lost a poly brother and i am maori from New Zealand. While New Zealand lost a legendary player. His family lost a beautiful humble family member. Condolences to the family wide. ❤😢 Sending out Respects to the lomu family.including his wife and 2sons.
I'm just a Dutch guy so pls forgive me if I'm wrong. The Haka is part of the history of New Zealand. But what I really love is that "white" people embrass it to. For me it's really a token of unity and respect. I hope other countries will learn from this.
The guy in the front carrying his casket is a well known player too in Rugby League is Manu Vatuvei also Tongan wearing something on his waist we called it taovala which we have different kind we wear at funeral.
Black Americans should have a call like this...✊🏾✊🏾💪🏾💯💯💯Even the children! They know who they are! Proud of their culture! Proud of their fallen hero...Where is black Americans??? 😥😦😓😓
subbed bro love your ability to be open minded and educate yourself on the culture from the otherside of the world!! love it man these reactions are so good and wholesome. i can feel the mana you have when watching these hakas. mbro 💯💯💥
*That's the beautiful unique sound of the DEI Soul that characterizes New Zealand Aotearoa, the land of long white cloud. In this instance, it's expressed for the departure of a legend of their sport in Auckland. In other instances, it's expressed for the needless violent loss of their fellow Kiwis from a vile racial terrorist attack in Christchurch! New Zealand is a model of multiculturalism harmony, far ahead of other countries in the world. At the risk of this reaction video becoming political, I will refrain from naming the worst ones on DEI!!!*
If you understand the mana attached to these hakas, it is all about honouring him as a hero to his college and his nation , the flax skirts are also a significant cultural dress for Tongans and Fijians to show his heritage.
Another good insight to haka is the Beats by Dre video about a tribute to another All Blacks player Richie Mccaw. It’s not the full video but it is a good watch nonetheless!
Thanks for sharing and showing respect for the poly culture. Jonah Lomu is Tongan born and raised in NZ just as Iam who is Tongan but born and raised in Hawaii. The other island groups have their own version of the haka that I would like for you to check out. Samoan haka is Siva Tau, Tongan haka is Sipi Tau, etc…Another video of an amazing Tongan Rugby Star is Jason Taumalolo that also did a lot for the game as Jonah Lomu you should check him out too!
th-cam.com/video/obS4m8tOBVA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mngZtHdN4XupyF3m You can pull up any videos on Jonah Lomu and Jason Taumalolo both known as wrecking ball, unstoppable, beast etc.
