Because Michael's management always stipulated that he had to receive some kind of award when he made an appearance. That's why he mistakenly thought he was getting an "Artist of the Millenium" award from Britney Spears on MTV many years ago. It was just a birthday trophy, but he gave an acceptance speech for a non-existent award. He was not promoting a tour like Janet is. You all need to stop with bringing Michael into every comparison with his sister. It's getting old.
