Ordinary people are supposed to serve as mere cogs in that system under a huge despotic regime, they would have no hesitation in gunning down unarmed peaceful demonstrators as they did in 1989, do you want to live your life in a "beautiful country" but under such a brutal regime?
Wei Hai has been one of cleanest cities (probably world ) in China even back to 1980s .In that time people don’t need wash shoes for one month, including leather shoes

China is already way advanced over USA & western European countries you only have to actually visit China to see it for yourself !! This is how most of the smaller newer cities look. Weihai is a smaller, younger 3rd tier city and ranked 89th richest city in China. With the exception of Shenzhen, the bigger cities have many older buildings they preserve instead of demolishing. And yes this city does have a relax vibe about it.

我老家甘肃的，来到新加坡12年了，所以中国去过的城市也有限，最喜欢的还是厦门，威海，苏州，我比较喜欢去准2.3线城市玩，上海北京广州这一类城市太大了...而且有点压抑
你是甘肃哪里的，我们是老乡，我是兰州的，西北现在发展的还不错，很多人都喜欢来我们那里自驾游
同感，看了太多人太大的城市，反而喜欢发达的三四线城市，浙江那边就很不错，即使是小一点的城市都没有落后感

以我所知這地方曾經是英國埴民地，還有這𥚃近市中心地價多少，有沒有戶外運動塲地，看到這𥚃環境很好，很像外國和陽光充沛，如果比較英國更適合人居住，對於一般香港人威海只是冬天會比較冷而已
