A lot of people are pointing to mil for enabling her daughter's alcoholism. But FIL was there the whole time too. They raised that daughter together, and both let her move back into their house and both enabled her drinking. FIL put his foot down way too late in the game to do any good to her.

You can send an alcoholic or drug addict to all the rehabs the world has to offer. Until the moment that the person wants to get clean, they won't work. Ever. The best you can do is just distance yourself from that person until they choose to get clean and or sober. Otherwise, it's a lost effort.
