I know this comment is really old, but when I think about it, this quote is really accurate. I once had to do a play where I was this surfer monster dude, and it was not the role i was hoping for. I hated it so badly. But after the show, my teachers told me after asking a couple people my character was their favourite. Keep this in mind future actor and actresses!

Olivia Caroline Since it was my first musical, and only my second show, I only auditioned for ensemble. I played the lead character in my last play but that was just pure luck since the actress who played her at first decided to quit and my director thought I would fit the role. Even as ensemble there was so much to learn, such as harmonies, choreography, etc. And we were told that we ALWAYS have to act so if we weren’t singing or didn’t have lines, we were reacting to what was happening or playing our part. I was a goth so I was always like over everything lol. It was honestly an amazing experience and I loved every minute as irrelevant as I may have been or seemed.
@@anahelena6047 you're never irrelevant in theater, because the ensemble is just as important as the leads in the musical! without an ensemble the musical wouldn't be complete :) it's so cool you guys got to play heathers! But I think that in this whole situation your brain is going fast and you have to save yourself quick so the rap is her thinking fast and making sure she doesn’t end up hurt. So I honestly love it.

That's very understandable. Blue was, by O'Keefe and Murphy's own admission, extremely polarizing for the very reason you stated. While I'm sure that it was never their intent to trivialize sexual assault, You're Welcome is a much more serious take on an issue that is VERY easy to be made insulting if you make light of it, like with Blue. So you're totally valid for it making you uncomfortable! It was literally removed from the West End production for that very reason.

He's trying to create a better world, by his own admission. JD's character flaw is that the only way he knows how to solve problems is by destroying shit, which is a lesson he learned from his dad. It has nothing to do with "SJWs". Seriously, dude, only children complain about SJWs. Grow up, dude. The writers explained why they removed Blue; because it was a lazy song that trivialized date rape as locker room talk. This song doesn't shy away from it. I do not like the replacing of blue with this one. Blue was silly and much more in the dark comedy genre than this one. The lyrics of this song is truly disturbing, and suddenly, JD shooting these two seems more justified because they actually pose a real danger to Veronica here, so JD basically only defends her now, and the entirety of his character arc disappears. While I agree Blue is a bop, its comedic lines make you forget that she constantly told these two guys no and they proceeded to try to pressure her anyway. Not just a danger to Veronica, but potentially to _society._ And then following their murder Veronica's all like "OMG WHAT HAVE YOU DONE" and "They were just seventeen, they could've changed ;A;" and I'm like "Girl, these two attempted to violently assault you and then blamed you for it, I think murdering them is kinda justified". Blue may have still felt sleazy and had Unfortunate Implications, but at least Veronica's reaction when JD commits murder on these two actually makes narrative sense.

Allyson King I get that and maybe that’s a good thing. It’s a reminder that he did care about Veronica. Instead of taking it as he was always the villain it can be taken as he spiraled is into the villain because of the choices of others. I think both versions are good but it depends on how you view JD as a character. If you consider him always evil then blue is better
Love Ram & Kurt performance and their parts in the song, Veronica's rap parts takes me a bit back but whatever, however I still like Blue a lot better, it's just so catchy and the metaphors are funny and clever. Love how they kept some of the original lyrics in here, like calling her geeky and nerdy and then freaky and dirty, which she kinda is, but not with them.

This oddly found a middle ground between blue and the west end version of you're welcome. Kurt and Ram are still goofy to a degree but they're still being sleazy pretty bad. I prefer it to the west end one which makes me uncomfortable how aggressive their being.
It's interesting how the song is slightly faster here and Veronica has a completely different, much faster rap. Unpopular opinion: I feel like Veronica's new lines do fit with the song better. It shows how she's actually scared and is thinking fast to get out of the situation in a way where she won't get hurt.

That's very understandable. Blue was, by O'Keefe and Murphy's own admission, extremely polarizing for the very reason you stated. While I'm sure that it was never their intent to trivialize sexual assault, You're Welcome is a much more serious take on an issue that is VERY easy to be made insulting if you make light of it, like with Blue. So you're totally valid for it making you uncomfortable! It was literally removed from the West End production for that very reason.

He's trying to create a better world, by his own admission. JD's character flaw is that the only way he knows how to solve problems is by destroying shit, which is a lesson he learned from his dad. It has nothing to do with "SJWs". Seriously, dude, only children complain about SJWs. Grow up, dude. I do not like the replacing of blue with this one. Blue was silly and much more in the dark comedy genre than this one. The lyrics of this song is truly disturbing, and suddenly, JD shooting these two seems more justified because they actually pose a real danger to Veronica here, so JD basically only defends her now, and the entirety of his character arc disappears. No, I'll always prefer Blue over this one.
MarieCarro I think the importance of this song is that the situation Kurt/Ram we’re putting Veronica through WAS disturbing. While I agree Blue is a bop, its comedic lines make you forget that she constantly told these two guys no and they proceeded to try to pressure her anyway. The only way Veronica could get away in BLUE was by getting them drunk - that’s disturbing.

Blue may have still felt sleazy and had Unfortunate Implications, but at least Veronica's reaction when JD commits murder on these two actually makes narrative sense.

Love Ram & Kurt performance and their parts in the song, Veronica's rap parts takes me a bit back but whatever, however I still like Blue a lot better, it's just so catchy and the metaphors are funny and clever. Love how they kept some of the original lyrics in here, like calling her geeky and nerdy and then freaky and dirty, which she kinda is, but not with them.

It was written for the Junior version of Heathers the Musical because the writers felt Blue was not suitable for a younger audience. Eventually they ended up preferring this song to Blue, so they cut Blue from future productions of Heathers and replaced it with this song.

This oddly found a middle ground between blue and the west end version of you're welcome. Kurt and Ram are still goofy to a degree but they're still being sleazy pretty bad.

In conclusion, You're welcome really shows why JD killed them.

It was literally referred to as rape in the Broadway version as “date rape” when Heather used Veronica as a “trade away” to get away and they still were trying to pressure her into sex in that song too. Again, they were literally doing the same thing they did here, just one came off as “goofy teenage boys” and the other was a little darker. So it’s explicitly stated that Heather M. got away from date rape by volunteering, and they were literally using rape tactics, so Kurt and Ram still tried to rape Veronica in both places, but one justifies their actions, because they weren’t drunk?
