- El castillo de Neuschwanstein se construyó en una época en la que los castillos y las fortalezas no eran necesarias desde el punto de vista estratégico. En lugar de ello, nació de la pura fantasía: una bella y romántica composición de torres y muros en perfecta armonía con las montañas y los lagos. La combinación de varios estilos arquitectónicos y la artesanía interior a inspirado a generaciones de adultos y niños. Éste castillo es un gran tributo a la fantasía y la imaginación.
El rey exigió dos condiciones en su construcción: primero, que sería edificado por trabajadores bávaros y con materiales bávaros, sin apenas excepciones, lo que favoreció la creación de una poderosa artesanía en Baviera, que ha hecho de ella uno de los mayores enclaves industriales de Alemania. Y segundo, que por fuera debía asemejar los castillos de los cuentos de hadas que tanto admiraba en su juventud, pero por dentro debía contener todos los avances tecnológicos de la época.
Así, ambas exigencias se cumplieron: el castillo asemejó tanto los relatos tradicionales alemanes que fue elegido por la Disney como modelo para el castillo de La bella durmiente (1959), el cual es el principal símbolo (de hecho, hay una réplica en este parque) del Disneyland Resort Paris o Eurodisney. Por dentro, además de continuas referencias a estos cuentos o a diversas leyendas y personajes medievales (Tristán e Isolda, Fernando el Católico), contiene una completa red de luz eléctrica, el primer teléfono móvil de la historia (con una cobertura de seis metros), una cocina que aprovechaba el calor siguiendo reglas elaboradas por Leonardo da Vinci, y maravillosas vistas y paisajes a los Alpes, incluyendo una encantadora cascada que podía contemplarse desde la habitación del monarca.

Hello. What fine views and good lighting for this Neuschwanstein Sloss. It is very notable and of import that it was built only one-third complete as to its original plans for the German prince. He lived there and did well, but it was to much dismay that he was visited so little and infrequently. Of course, like me, he was a Gentleman and wanted good company. Thus, it was sparce in that region, and they needed to bring a good wine to help in the yodeling. I am here, "Jim" James Howard Day (Jr.)

To the previous poster, yes this is where they shot part of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" in about 1970 (around there). They could only use Neuschwantsein for the exterior shots, the interior shots were done on a movie set made to look like the castle.

Impressive yodelling. Great technique. However, you should hear the Mad Bavarian who lives in the USA. He is an incredible entertainer and a great yodler.

@RedJoker I live 420km from Neuschwanstein but I've been there three times untill now ^^ At least you should go there once in your live. If you like walking, there is a nice trail starting at the bridge over the Marienschlucht to the Tegernberg peak.

Mandado construir por Luis II de Baviera en el año 1866, originalmente conocido como el nuevo Hohenschwangau, en honor al lugar donde el rey pasó gran parte de su infancia, su nombre fue cambiado tras la muerte del rey.

It sure is beuatiful, and so was the girl I saw there when I was like 17, we had the "eye contact" and she even waved her hand at me but I did'nt think she was doing it to me so I just stood there... -.- thats allmost the only memory I have from Neuschwanstein castle :( that's something Im gonna regret for the rest of my life xD

Walt Disney built his "Cinderella's Castle " at Disneyland after this castle which he never saw in person but in pics.I got to tour this on a cold day in Nov.of 2001.

now it is, but not back in history, this new swan castle was built when germany was only some separate regions ruled by different tribes.
my german friend told me he's a bavarian & the bavarians share the same ancestry as austrians, bavarian germans also have closer accent to austrians rather than northern germans, is that right?

This is the type of music that allows insanity to slowly creep into the human psych if one listens to it for too long. Too long maybe something as short as 5 seconds to 1 minute. As I was looking at the beautiful scenery from Bavaria, my brain kept glitching. The last thought that came to my head before I mute the sound was a bullet to the brain will make it stop. That itself was pretty insane.

Ludwig was no crazier than most members of our Congress. AND he left castles (like this glorious one) that are bringing millions of dollors into the coffers of Germany. Hordes of tourists go to them each year. Ludwig also bailed out Wagner (composer) several times, financed performances of his operas, and built Wagner's opera house at Bayreuth. Ludwig truly was the patron saint of German art. And he was gay as well.
Ludwig was crazy alright--crazy like a fox.
