For example when i went to a village in Sindh, i could only speak to the people who undersood urdu, just like in india you have different languages and dialects, same here. My mother can not speak urdu and has problem when meets people from other parts of coountry, funny but true.

It is 100% Urdu. Urdu has the power to absorb languages in it. A lot of poets have used words like mushk-e-chaman, jaan-e-Bharan and others in Urdu poetry. Real Perian speaking people have quite a different accent of most words that we use in Urdu. Mostly, it is hard to understand the word we use in Urdu but somehow get the chance to listen by a Persian speaking person.

Unfortunately, the confluence of Bollywood, Pop, and dwindling academic standards have brought us to a point where people read Iqbal and Faiz or any piece of poetry written in Urdu e Moalla and think it’s Farsi. Urdu borrows heavily from Farsi and Arabic because it is deeply related to both the languages. However, while someone speaking Farsi and not having an understanding of Urdu would understand many parts of this song because of shared vocabulary, he wouldn’t understand half of it, because it is in Urdu. Ghalib would be petrified if someone confused his Urdu poetry with his Farsi kalam and Iqbal would be mortified to hear that his shaheens could no longer differentiate between good Urdu and Farsi. It is 100% Urdu. Urdu has the power to absorb languages in it. A lot of poets have used words like mushk-e-chaman, jaan-e-Bharan and others in Urdu poetry. Real Perian speaking people have quite a different accent of most words that we use in Urdu. Mostly, it is hard to understand the word we use in Urdu but somehow get the chance to listen by a Persian speaking person.

Unfortunately, the confluence of Bollywood, Pop, and dwindling academic standards have brought us to a point where people read Iqbal and Faiz or any piece of poetry written in Urdu e Moalla and think it’s Farsi. Urdu borrows heavily from Farsi and Arabic because it is deeply related to both the languages. However, while someone speaking Farsi and not having an understanding of Urdu would understand many parts of this song because of shared vocabulary, he wouldn’t understand half of it, because it is in Urdu.
Ghalib would be petrified if someone confused his Urdu poetry with his Farsi kalam and Iqbal would be mortified to hear that his shaheens could no longer differentiate between good Urdu and Farsi.
For instance, look at this couplet by Ghalib:
آتے ہیں غیب سے یہ مضامیں خیال میں
غالب صریر خامہ نوائے سروش ہے
