We fished Canon Rocks (Eastern Cape) | Good times, great mates and LOADS of memories!

What an AMAZING weekend!!!
The fishing didn’t play its part as much as we hoped for, but we had 4 days of torrential downpour which meant the ocean was full of fresh water.
We tried our best, but came up short about 90% of the time!
Nonetheless, we had a great weekend with some amazing mates and we can’t wait to go back again!

If you have never caught a Cowshark, do not handle it in a similar way to what was showcased in this video. The species can easily inflict serious injuries.
Make sure to carry a hook remover to reduce such risk.
Hook removal from a Cowshark is much safer when it involves two people. One person holds the Cowshark firmly with both hands, placing their grip between the gills and jaw bones having approached it from behind, while another person uses the hook remover whilst holding and extracting the trace.
If a Cowshark is hooked off rocks and needs to be walked back through gullies/reef for hook removal purposes, it’s preferable to allow it to swim on the trace whilst you negotiate your way off the rocks and through gullies, rather than try and grab and carry it. This shark is extremely flexible and able to twist and turn on itself thereby increasing the chance of a bite to an angler. Their serrated stepped teeth cut effortlessly.
If a person who is helping to land it, grabs the tale the angler or a third person should try to keep some tension on the trace to limit the potential for the Cow to rotate around with a view to biting the person assisting with the landing.

That was a seriously lucky escape from being bitten. Cow's can swing around and bite their own tail. The teeth can slice through everything in a jiffy.

cowsharks can bite their own tails so be very carefull when handling them to avoid a serious bite
